* She wrote Bad Blood about Katy Perry, cause she was upset over dancers being pulled from her. When in reality, the real reason is clearly due to Katy Perry dating John Mayer, which clearly put her off. Nothing wrong about writing a song about anyone she wants, but having a whole video campaign about pitting woman against Katy, and trying to find every big A-list name she could pull as me vs you, was whack. What doubles down her pettiness? The fact that she backtracks years later and went out of her way to blame “the media” when it was her who was out for revenge regarding Katy. She also posts a picture of Katy’s Olive Branch gift, with the words stating she is sorry. Which came across as really childish. If Katy never had apologised to her, Taylor would be still taking shots at her (purposely dropping her catalogue release on Spotify the day Katy Perry dropped her album.)

That argument really gave me chills. What an insight into that relationship. The performances and cinematography were fantastic. I totally agree that this video makes the 10 min version of the song way better. I had a similar experience with LWYMMD- I disliked the audio on the initial listen, but the video made the whole thing make sense and become simply iconic. I actually would have preferred if she’d waited to release the 10 min version audio until the premiere of the video.

Yes! the dad doesn't look that old to be father, but I googled him and his name is Shawn Levy. he's a movie/tv producer and director and he's actually 53 y.o.! so technically he can be "19 y.o. Taylor" dad. just found it funny cause I thought he didn't look old enough to be having a 19 y.o. kid as well. but guess he just looks good for his age. haha. his real life kids are actually the people that surround young Taylor in her 21st birthday.

Oh. For me, this short film shows 3 times he let her down, or treated her poorly and then comes back and says sorry and tries to make it all great again. And, she's young and in love and she takes him back each time. First scene they are in love and driving upstate. then the dinner party when he completely ignored her around his friends and treated her like nobody. Then, back in the car he's arguing with someone on the phone and tossing her the car keys like a tool. Who is he arguing with, another woman? Why did he toss her the keys like that? Then, back in the car he's making it up to her, apologizing. Then, again, the kitchen scene, she isn't over it. he's making her feel like its her fault. And, his friends were "f***ing nice to you too". LIke, why wouldn't they be? Like they were doing him a favor. And, its all her fault. then, goes and apologizes, again, but doesn't mean it and she ,again, accepts it and they go back to being together. Then, he just turns her away. She wakes up, in his shirt, and comes in and kisses him, and he pushes her away. It depicts the PATTERN of torture this guy did to her. Hurt her, apologize, hurt her, apologize, blame her, apologize, put her down, apologize. Until the end. Excellent. Loved it. Taylor in red. its fitting. Sadie did well.

The visual depiction of the cycle that All Too Well referred to really does make the song that much more impactful. I hate how much I relate to the naivety on display here, but I think a lot of us fell into that role when we were young and in love for the first time and didn’t really understand that things could be different. I love the way you laid it out here though. Great comment!

I think the “are you real” over the sweet montage is the thought process you go through when you look back over a bad relationship, and remember the moments that were beautiful. Because that person who manipulated you and hurt you and made you feel small and scared also kissed your bruises and said they’d never love anyone else. So was the good ever real, was that version of that person real? Or was it all just an act? Or I’m just projecting my complicated feelings of my own bad former relationship. Either way I love the short film and the ten minute version never gets skipped in this house ❤

Zack, rewatched this today. It’s so good. Wondering if you watched her performance at the theater. While I live for the SNL performance, vocally….. she had some hiccups but to me it will go down as one of the most iconic SNL performances of all time. But, I really like her acoustic Taylor and her guitar version at the theater. Did you watch it? If not, are you going to react to it. I also like that she interacts with the crowd a little and shows her funny personality.

My only small criticism of the film is that I wasn’t a fan of the chapter titles. I imagine they’re meant to be an Easter egg. For the most part, I found them distracting and unnecessary - the music and the acting was enough to tell the story. The only chapter title I would have left in would be the 13 years later one.

I think the chapter titles are necessary since she is writing a book from these experiences. I think its intentional.
@elenagerhardy26363 жыл бұрын
@@sunshinepaulin6315 yes, I agree that they’re meant to tie in to the plot of Taylor becoming an author. When I said they were unnecessary, I meant that they were mostly unnecessary to the overall storytelling. Eg as a viewer, I didn’t need the text ‘an upstate escape’, when the lyrics of the song are ‘we’re singing in the car getting lost upstate’ and the visuals were Dylan and Sadie in the car driving in upstate New York. I get it. They were upstate. My one exception would be ‘thirteen years gone’, because the video would have been confusing without this one. But that’s just my opinion - if you enjoy the chapter titles and find them valuable or even necessary that’s totally fine by me.

yeah... to me, it seemed really generic. I felt it took away the magic the song had, by being just a song and not a short film or mv you can imagine the whole story the way you want to, and thus is easier to relate. Well, at least for me. Also, I didnt like that the scenes followed almost step by step the actions described in the song.
