The Wolf-Beast is interesting bc of a creature from First Nations lore from Weetern Canada. There’s a creature that resembles a massive wolf with bear-like paws and higher intelligence called Wahella. It’s known to predate on the largest of creatures in the environment, as well as humans. And I believe has been known to specifically target humans over other prey options.

Great video, man! The thing you mentioned about Silver may be because in western alchemy, silver was associated with the moon, and even symbolized by the moon in alchemical texts. Werewolves, being associated to the moon and the night, may be vulnerable to Silver because it is the metal associated to that which reigns over them, the Moon.

Well, the Moon being related to werewolves is a fairly modern invention. It may even originate no earlier than Lon Cheney Jr's film The WolfMan. The reason silver is harmful to werewolves as well as vampires and all sort of fiendish beings is that silver represented something sacred that was the bane of evil creatures.

@@jonathonfrazier6622 I know about the association of Silver and holy purity; I was referring more to the part where a specific type of werebeasts were weak to silver due to a similar resonance or other metaphysical similarity. The thing about werewolves and werebeasts in general is that the myths about them are present in several cultures. For example, in Brazilian Folklore (which combines Iberic European myths with African myths) a werewolf is associated with the full moon, and Friday; and is normally told to be the 7th-born son of couples with 6 prior daughters. Myths are very varied, so I think knowing different converging reasons for why ideas within them are connected is cool; Especially if you're interested in running a game or worldbuilding.

@@jonathonfrazier6622 The connection of the full moon and werewolves has been around since the time of Rome through the writings of Petronius and in the Middle Ages through the writings of Gervase of Tilbury. The vulnerability to silver was also originated in the Middle Ages. R.E. Howard's story Wolfshead which came out 15 years prior to The Wolf Man also incorporated The Full Moon in the story...

When Solomon Kane sneaks into that city in Africa ruled by an evil woman to rescue an English woman, he finds the last Atlantean Priest, where he discovers this city was once merely an outpost of a great Atlantean civilization. His skin is dark, not white, his society he came from resembles in no way the Atlanteans of Kull or his later descendant Conan the Barbarian. In contrast to barbarians, these Atlanteans as depicted in this Solomon Kane story seem more like the remnants of a decadent civilization, advanced and cruel. Then as a second form of evidence there is the story " Skullface" with a resurected Atlantean priest hell bent on world domination, again resembling in no way Kulls people.

At 3:00 the change from age of connan voice to the grim dark is kind abrupt even with the fade in, I recommend leave a few secs of music play before the fade in and then instead of raising your voice you already start with your normal volume but with a short introduction. "We are back at analyse of connan lore and here we are..." Luentin and oculus imperia do it pretty well I recommend you take a look.

Ah, so there used to be a great lore website that was shut down earlier this year called HyborianExiles, it was my source for much of this information! However, more can be found by looking into gods that the fear hyena is married to in some pantheons on both the Conan Wiki and the Age of Conan Wiki. Other than that I deeply recommend the Mongoose publishing books regarding the black kingdoms as those are where the information on Mongoose publishing comes from! Hope that helped!
