The Skeletons remind me a lot of R Scott Bakkers Cunoroi, or Non-Men. The Cunuroi enslave humanity, then repent of it and help them run society ala second empire They go insane/demented over 1000s of years of immortality (Non-men suffer dementia and slowly forget everything save the most traumatic experiences. Therefore to hold onto memories of love they intentionally murder and commit atrocities towards loved ones so that they may remember. Embracing this lifestyle turns them insane and erratic) They have a love/hate relationship with humans having a living memory both suffered at the hands of and also having victimized in turn Both are persecuted by a theocracy Both master smiths both commit mass self-unalive and both have protected humanity from a mysterious alien force

One thing I love about Kenshi is from our point of view and expectation of sci-fi, they live in an apocalyptic hell-hole, but for them its their way of life. It kind of reminds me of how we look at the Third World. In that sense, the setting feels real. And wow you actually kind of cover that with talking about Kenshi's perspective of the "luckier" world.

Brilliant video, Brilliant channel and Series. I would just like to add a very important note, unrelated to the topic. The video briefly mentions the idea of Cyclical History, making it important to note that this concept was INCREDIBLY popular during Howard's time. Clearly inspired him, and as the concept is gaining popularity in colloquial discussions and entering the vocabulary it is imperative to understand that while popular the concept has always been dubious even at it's height. It is largely considered an archaic and problematic view of history that neglects complex economic, demographic and geo political factors of the era it examines, tends to rely on perception of history vs historical fact,

I want to play Age of Conan so badly. I played it back in the day when I bought it on disc. It’s been ages and I never got far. But I checked the play count and it’s been extremely low. Only 40 ppl online right now. Makes me sad.

4:23:09-4:23:14 as i said in the separate video on the dragons, all 3 members of the Type 3 group can breathe fire. the wiki states that the Green Dragon can breathe fire, and then i saw it do just that in a couple videos. the White Dragon, i thought, either had ice breath, or no breath attack at all; and yet recently, i saw 2 videos of the White Dragon breathing fire. the reason why most people think only the Red Dragon can breathe fire is because it uses the attack more often than the other 2; but i repeat: *all 3 dragons of Conan Exiles can breathe fire.*

I'm a bit late, but I mostly pick and choose. But the bedrock is Howard, Lovecraft, and Clark Ashton Smith.

I admit that when I first saw the title of this video I thought that you were going to be talking about Mummies in the Conan universe. I didn't realize that Mummery was just another name for Con-Artists and Snake Oil Salesmen. So that was an interesting education. You learn something new everyday. Though if there are Mummies in Hyborea like the Tomb Kings in Warhammer Fantasy or the Mummies in D&D I think that would be cool. Maybe in Stygia, Shem and possibly in Khitai. Sorcerers and Kings who would want to rule forever and wouldn't let something like death be the pesky thing that stops them. They could find some way to continue onwards after their allotted time on this world is up. Something like Thugra Khotan/Natohk in Black Colossus could be an example. In the book: Conan The Scrolls of Skelos by Mongoose publishing pages 117-119 talks about creating The Mummy of Ahriman. Also when you talk about Alchemy, one thing that I have noticed is that when people refer to western alchemy such as the experiments of creating the philosophers stone, or people like John Dee or the Rosicrucian's and then when they talk about eastern alchemy, like herbal medicines, Taoism, tai chi, etc,. They like to keep both sides separate. Why? If you combine them together you would have a better chance of getting the results you are looking for in whatever you are creating. On another note: since the universes of Howard and Lovecraft exist together, could the Immortal Chinamen who rule over the Cthulhu Cult, be some dark version of the Taoist Immortals? Or some ancient sorcerers from Khitai who through their magic and/or worship of dark gods survived the fall and still exist to this day in our modern world? Just a thought.

Related, but shout out to an ongoing Manhwa I am reading with a Satan-like horror trickster monster protagonist: "The Fangs That Pierce the Heart." I am not sure how many boxes Iblonde checks off in your book, but they do horrifying and mortifying things you expect an unrepentant, manipulative demon to do. For #1, we do get told the backstory of Beliel's current meatsuit. Don't know if there is a genre or term for a horror story where, rather than the protagonist struggling against a monster, the focus is on rooting for the side characters to realize the growing dread and somehow survive the insidious calamity that is technically the protagonist, while she tiptoes around the church, going from peasant to presumably "nobly" usurping the crown by the meatsuit's birthright as part of the original promise. By the time she set the ___ on fire, I knew that grieving mother who wanted better for her daughter (and in part "miffed" at the corrupt church and state) had summoned an archdemon, a secret harbinger of woe for both innocent and guilty that get caught up with Beliel. (I should have expected that in Ch.1 when Iblonde was caught eating the village horses). You probably know some better stories, and Manhwa art may not be your cup (mostly when art quality dips at points... at some points... I think I remember...), but it is generally good, conveying that not running away as soon as Iblonde smiles at you was the worst life decisions you could have ever made (par with any secretly Satan characters). Similar kind of hebegebees Makima from Chainsawman gives.
