Michael Garrett interesting.. I was actually thinking about it the other way around! Getting a leader CB (ie Rice, Skriniar, Gimenez) with a proper LB (ie Tagliafico, Alaba etc) would allow the entire defensive line to be more in sync, especially on the transition and set pieces where Chelsea are most vulnerable. This could allow Kepa to position himself better and allow him fewer areas/personnel he would have to concentrate on.

These defenders need to improve. And the midfield needs to have more control in the game by having possession and controlling the tempo of the game. Lampard has alot of work to do to make us title contenders again. Those games we lost with smaller teams this season has been his downfall. With Pulisic, Werner, Havertz Chelsea have 3 very unconventional forwards who can all score goals, partake in high shot creating actions, take high quality shots in penalty area and importantly it seems they all could rotate positionally. Really great frontline. When you factor in Ziyech in the midfield 8 with Kanté-Kovacic pivot, that's great. Only a CB and a GK away from title challenging team.

The other issue is can they all gel together and adapt to the PL quickly. With Klopps's Liverpool, new signings are generally eased into the first team such as Fabinho, Chamberlain and Robertson. Chelsea are usually impatient, when things don't go their way, which could be an issue for Lampard if the new signings struggle early.

As a Bayern fan, it would be extremely frustrating if Chelsea were to sign Havertz. Bayern have kept an eye on him for a long time and he is literally the perfect Müller replacement. Havertz likes to find space off the ball, in a familiar "Raumdeuter" like fashion, he likes to drift in from the right side in a way similar to Müller, he can even play on the wings like Müller, he's german AND he's at a very good age at almost exactly a decade younger to boot at 9 years and about 9 months younger than Müller. It would be such a beautiful transition for Bayern, but as it stands Chelsea are the favorites to get Havertz. If they do get him, it would be a very smart move.
