These unions are totally illegal and enforcing these fake rules just by having muscle power on the ground. If I want to ride from Delhi to Leh I will rent a bike from Delhi. Stupid rules. The government should take action against such unions. Artificially inflated price, Dont service the bike, Just blame everything on the rider. If you don't have time to service or at least check the bike in between 2 customers u simply don't rent out the bike to a second customer. What they are running is not a union but a cartel totally illegal. Now coming to support of local people, I will support them by paying for the service they provide (Food, Stay, Shopping, etc). Dont bully outsiders in the name of supporting locals. One should be free to rent a bike in any part of India and ride it anywhere.

I rented a bullet for a day in manali, it was missing right rear view mirror, while taking delivery i randomly clicked a photo sitting on the bike at the shop. When I returned it they told me that it is missing a mirror I told them it was already missing, they said I had to pay for it and then I remembered and showed that photo to him, then he became silent so this is only for a mirror . Check and take photos properly before taking the bike and check for mechanical errors.

Also wear basic quality gears like helmets as you won't know how the bike would respond as you won't knw how well it has been maintained.

Good information. I understand there is pressure in operating a business in a place where the tourist season is short and the window is limited. However the chap comes across like a mafia head and represents the dark and unfortunate side in what is otherwise a beautiful region. If Ladakh is part of the rest of the country then the law of the country or at least local regional laws should apply universally. This isn't law or support for the local economy by promoting local businesses through respect, this is through fear and intimidation. I like the welcome to Ladakh last words. Not what you expect when people talk about the hospitality and warmth of the people of the region.

If he was literate and had Graduated well in IT, he would be in Bangalore, Pune or Noida, not sitting there on a thin season, just a POV.
@theadventuresofcosmo3 жыл бұрын
@@rgtllc9959 Has nothing to do with literate or place. From my point of view I have total respect for the business and in his position I'd feel the same about the short tourist season, the risk of investing in so many bikes and being undercut by other rental companies in other states. It's completely understandable. But I wouldn't believe that I have the right to create my private laws and dictate them to other fellow citizens or stand or block the road and decide who can do what and go where like I own the place. I live in Pune but I don't own the place and tell visitors where I will let them drive and what I will allow and not allow.

Good conversation between you guys But I'hv many issues with ladakh biking co. I hv many cases against them as max. no. Of bikes are not properly services, many of them issues of fuel pump , throatle body. I hv seen a video on youtube , a himalyan broke down from the chassie, fortunatly the rider was completely geared up so didn't get much injuries. So the main issue is regarding the rental biking co. A person can borrow someone's bike with valid authorization. 4. What happens if all other sectors form unions and inflate prices? Is it acceptable? 5. Why don't they open shops in Manali or other regions. What's stopping them? All these things continue until one day when travelers are fed up with them and chose other places or big whales take away the whole business with the help of govt just like ola and uber took over the taxi.

Ladhaki people should believe in the Concept on single economy and must come with other creative ideas to earn money. Creating Unions and restricting tourists can in turn create adverse effects for local economy in long term. Instead they should consider opening business in delhi and manali by that way if someday Ladakh no longer Remains a popular tourist spot these people can survive.
