Thank goodness! I am from Haryana, and for the first time I am watching two men who come from the core misogynist patriarchal society talking on one of the most confronting situation for us women and how we through various modes especially bollywood normalise staring, stalking, and other henious crimes like rapes. And yes it starts from HOME. Crimes against women have been minimalised like it is a theft issue. Badaun, Nirbhaya, Hyderabad, Unnao, Kathua, Hathras and how can we forget Bilkis Bano. Manipur has been added to the list. I strongly feel this video needs to be amplified so I will be sharing it on other social media platforms. Well done The Fourth Dimension, Sanjay and Prayas.

The great thing is two sensible humans from misoginyst states are discussing about women safety and behaviour of men in general. I think there is a long history of social reforms in eastern, western and southern parts of India that helped to change the mindset of people about women. Education also played a big role in shaping the conscience of the society. When people like you are there, hope for better days are there. Thanks for taking up the issue.

Another major issue is the colloquial slangs which abuse women. Women are seen as harbours of respect of a family and the men she is associated with. Men have constructed this social idea that by exploiting the commodity which belongs to other men ('their' women) they can take revenge and settle conflict! Men have created created to abuse women from as many angles as mathematically possible. Men need to talk about the disgust they have birthed by using their brains. Men need to know that by being humans they can use their brains to create safety, warmth and love, things which they so desperately search for all their life. Things which they themselves have deprived themselves of. They take this anger out on women, the filth is the ideas which they perpetuate, consciously or unconsciously.

Culture is the key. In misogynistic places toxic masculinity is embraced but feminism is looked down upon. As long as men can’t appreciate the feminine qualities within themselves, like being witty, playing with words and logic, mental and emotional maturity and support, ability to make intelligent decisions with farsightedness, ability to communicate, ability to sell, ability of preservation of family and saving for future, ability to connect to children in the family, ability to plan critically and organise, ability to work long hours, resilience. All of these and more are characters are often seen as weekness but in reality they are crucial. A man by the time develops and accepts all these abilities as important is either old or aging. Once a boy learn that father respects mom for her qualities, he will respect women too. Once a boy learns that women in my family has the same place and valued equally for what they do, they will never be able to do anything like rape. We have a crooked view about women of society and this is why development as a country is slow or stagnant.

I have been hearing Sanjay Rajoura from 5 years and what is says in his discussions including this one is the hard truth about Indian Men and their mentality towards women. There are many steerotypes practices specially in Punjab, Haryana, UP & Delhi where women are being always suppressed and dominated as if she has no brain of hers or she don't know what is right and what is wrong. Sanjay's discussions are always based on facts and one of his discussion in which he mentioned about Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor are the torch bearers of all types of patriarchal society is 100% true

Truly staring is such an uncomfortable form of harassment, it leaves such deep scars especially on young girls who have to still face this regularly. I still remember one such incident from the age of 13 in a shared auto with a drunk man staring at me like I am some piece of meat. It was just feeling of sheer fear, absolute fear that either I am going to get raped in that auto or get killed. I am now 30 and still I just cannot erase it from my mind. That incident has made me afraid of all the men who drink alcohol, no matter how much I try to make sense and think logically about this that alcohol doesn't make someone evil or rapist, but this one incident from my childhood has changed me for life. One more point I want to add, this staring thing is I think common in every part of India, especially small towns where men gather in groups in some corner and think they have the right to harass women. I personally have faced it a lot in small towns and when I used to live in Maharashtra. Even when men sit in public places with such arrogance and attitude that it makes many women uncomfortable. That shows this mentality in men that they own the streets. It somehow gives them authority. And that's why girls have to wear scarfs to cover their faces while walking or driving on roads.
@TheFourthDimensionChannel Жыл бұрын
Extremely sorry about your personal experiences in your younger days. That sounds horrific. You are absolutely right about men making women/girls uncomfortable and scared for life. The male gaze, as a term, was coined by feminist film theorist Laura Mulvey in 1975. The idea of the “male gaze” is that through media and culture women are objectified and seen primarily for their physical appearance. I grew up in Punjab and later moved to Gurgaon after marriage. The nightmare of travelling in public transport has never left me. My husband & I went on to have 2 daughters and decided to move to Pune which was safer for girls & it was but eventually left the country cuz it was all relative . Now I personally feel so much safer for myself & our girls. What a sad testimony that as women we’re most at risk in our own neighbourhoods, in our own country. So much for our ‘sanskar’ & sabhyata’ 🥵

Immensely sorry that due to those lusty men you had to change course of your life. We hope one day men will stop being the source of relentless fear for women. We mentally brought up in Patriarchy, honour culture, feudalism(caste, religion driven tendencies). Financially we going towards capitalism. And sadly women not only victims but also part of this outcome, because they also carry same metal make up. That’s why in each movies/song you mention, women in end start feeling attraction of said “badsalook” hero. Which is actual peak of mental bankruptcy.

We were discussing a Rajasthani lady's plight at the hands of her parents after informing them that her husband seems to be an impotent. It struck that a mother teaches her daughter to be tolerant even if that be immoral acts of males she comes across in her life. But what does the father teach his son/sons???? The son emulates his father, isn't it. ??? So, then Who is whose worst enemy??? Men are man's worst enemy or Women are woman's worst enemy ???

@akashagarwal7734 Жыл бұрын
A child doesn't have the power or developed idea of consent. It is difficult for a child to deny being touched, thus a protection is required which the guardian can put in place. Teach children to say no, to tell the guardian when they feel uncomfortable and tell the children that they are the owners of their body. It is not painting everyone with the same colour, it is prevention.

Women are being objectified because women always served as a selling point for men. In developed countries the same objectification doesn’t lead to rape because men/boys knows that’s just a selling tactic and would knows sexual harassment isn’t acceptable in the society. Men are objectified as well and many finds it extremely difficult to keep up to get girl friends. There are lots of pressure on men to become an interesting, charmer and learn how to satisfy a woman. But in India the same objectification of women means it gives society license to abuse women if they wear a certain type of clothing. Because in India we don’t have an equal society. Male objectification doesn’t exist because our society sees it as peculiar male taste. So you can’t blame capitalism alone. However, Capitalism is creating another disease for us, wanting to have what we don’t need. “The want” is what selling products, or in this world why do we need so many clothes or packaged food or phone? Newer models every where. Why can’t we invest that money into research and come up with free electricity and resolve world hunger problems? Why can’t we tackle climate and population? Why can’t we focus on ending wars and reduce defence budget? Because all our waking hours goes towards producing, selling and consuming unnecessary things. Because capitalism is creating a highly unequal society in which poor is gradually exploited to it’s doom and kept busy by fighting each other. Democratic Governments world wide are losing meaning because they are unable to stop this blatent exploitation that has made us all so dependent and vulnerable. We all need to stop getting side tracked by distractions ourselves. Create demand for things that matter. Demand things that you need. Pollution free air, clean water, no child going hungry, employment into developmental sectors, good law and order, reform justice system and lot more. Maybe if we speak up and demand the right thing some selfish politician or capitalist will invest seeing a market, seeing votes.
@globalcitizen0 Жыл бұрын
@@Msnovy First of all, it is naive to assume that rapes don't happen in Western countries. Second, I only emphasized capitalism I didn't mean to say its the only reason. I am talking about commodification of each and everything we see.. be it a human or an object. Going by the capitalist logic, if its a commodity it is meant to be consumed and thats what we do. Indian context, Sexual repression+capitalist or consumerist behaviour+ false sense of pride in Indian culture (whatever that means) etc. contribute to this travesty.. Growing market for Bhabhi videos or incestual p*rn is a proof of sexual repression and degeneration of morals.
@Msnovy Жыл бұрын
@@globalcitizen0 you’re reading what you want to. I never said rapes doesn’t happen or women are never disrespected in western countries but the daily dose of misogyny is what I was referring to. Like starting or casual sexual harassment. Rape is invasive and criminal. I’m talking about women feeling comfortable and safe enough in public spaces. I don’t think I disagreed with your views but said capitalism isn’t the only reason. Because if that was the case rapes would be happening on every 2 steps in capitalist countries. Just because there are porns, it doesn’t mean people in these countries are having sex in public places all the time. Moral degeneration is a problem worldwide and I agree with you on capitalism driving it. You more or less wrote the same thing. Please stop yourself from making judgemental remarks like “Naive” on social media, we’re all just expressing our opinions.

@@Msnovy sorry if my reply came across as a judgemental one.. I didn't mean it in that way.. I agree with your points in general.. but I guess casual harassment or misogyny is a problem worldwide. In my views, girls or boys or other genders can wear what they want. Period. The wearer of the clothes does not force the watcher to look at them. The discomfort in this case is self inflicted. Men stare at girls actively and make them uncomfortable, thats a huge problem. Ladke 'No' kehte hain?? shayad aap 'No' ka context nahi samjhe yehan.
