I never thought about playing mass land destruction + turn lands into creatures as a way to win the game with Sek'kuar. Greta idea!

Junius01 Thanks! This is how I run my personal Sek’Kuar deck and it’s a lot of fun to play!

Originally this episode was supposed to feature Animar but as I was researching and coming up with ideas, I realized that I was much more interested in highlighting Sek’Kuar. Sorry to the Animar fans out there, he’ll get his time to shine soon! I hope you guys enjoyed this episode of Deck Tech Arcade it took awhile to make so smash that like button!

Awesome deck tech. Interesting take on using lands as creatures. I have too many deck ideas and I’ll def put this on my list to build

my boy sek'kuar! in a world full of kresh the bloodbraided, proshs, and shattergangs this guy always is super fun, i use a kamahl fist of krosa to make land creatures ALOT then wipe em out so im glad to see someone else using that tactic, jund is the color of no friends!

Doesn't a boardwipe send sek to the graveyard as well before the graveborn are created?

I considered building a Sek'kuar deck ages ago, but backed off because I couldn't think of anything unique for him (and I've always been more of a Grixis player besides), but this has got to be one of the most appealing takes I've ever seen on him. Good work, DBS. Out of curiosity, do you brainstorm for all these deck techs and budget builds on your own, or do you have a team/friends that help you?

Baalphegor I have several friends I bounce ideas off then I scope out decklists and see what other people are doing. I never copy other people’s ideas but it’s always good to see what the MTG community thinks and brainstorm deck ideas. Then I start brewing up my own decklist, incorporating into it cards I’d play, and tuning it to be generally good in any meta. I’m big on decks with low overall CMC and creating consistency with the strategy. I want a deck to play to the best of its ability, it may not always come out on top but it will make big plays and have a lot of replay ability.

I have a sek'kuar shadowborn apostle deck. It's incredibly spicy with all the recursion you have in these colours, such as bloodbond march, and nantuko shrine is just insane. The amount of sacrifice outlets in the deck is really high, and as we are playing shadowborns, most of the creatures that are sacked to draw or search cards are nontoken, so we will get the hasty 3/1s. Add impact tremors and suddenly your apostles are one shooting oponents thanks to bloodborn March or thrumming stone. Sek'kuar just totally milks it out with 6 hasty bois for each demon you cheat in with the apostles. (Do not forget about abhorrent overlord+impact tremors for even more damage on the spot). Also, this deck can totally wear out the athreos version. It supports ramp and more devastating spells. so this is why I love sek'kuar. I felt like o had to explain why I think he is that good.

We're getting a Jund Land commander in C18! I'm really excited as Prosh seems to be the only good Jund commander. Sekkuar is fun, but just feels like a downgrade from Meren or Gitrog Monster just for an extra colour.

Well considering Sek’kuar was the first mtg card/precon deck I ever bought, I guess I’m going to have to make this deck with a couple mods, maybe focus more on creature dying effects and slightly dial back the token generation. Either was this deck is going to piss people off

"Don’t lie, you’ve never heard of Sek’Kuar Deathkeeper but that’s okay" Far from that, built it long before Commander 2013 alternate art came on. Even has an Ashenmoor Liege to pump those Graveborns

Dear Alex (did I get the name right?) of Deck Builder's Society Utmost respect to a fellow Sek'kuar-phile. Recalled, was it you who commented it as a underrated card at Command Zone? It's almost criminal that it's still priced as bulk rare after so many years. Certainly will re-visit the deck helmed by the Commander 2013 art, 1 sweet day. Peace out!

wait, using a board clear doesnt kill your sek'kuar? and doesnt the effect of sekkuar resolves 1st on the stack? so all your creatures created by sekkuar wont be destroyed? AM I CONFUSING SOMETHING????
@TheCommanderDojo6 жыл бұрын
João Miguel Azoia You have it backwards my friend. Here's an example: - Sek on the battlefield - Animate all the lands - Cast Blasphemous Act - All creatures and creature-lands take 13 damage. - Sek's ability triggers, I get a bunch of hasty 3/1 tokens

At first, good job man, keep it going! Dude your channel has so much potential but after the first 5 seconds with this fast, aggressive, loud, annoying, oldschool computer bit music, I wanted to leave the channel/video (instead I skipped to the middle of the video, but only because there aren't a lot other good Sek’Kuar Deathkeeper techs). Don't get me wrong, I like this kind of music, but it needs more melodic peaceful earwingy elements.
