I was destroyed for a while over that, not being able to complete something even if it is the best for you is still heart-wrenching, but that is why they have people looking out for you to ensure you don't wreck yourself for life. @@LevatekGaming They're in the part of training where they simulate being captured and they have to withstand the interrogation. The cover story is used as they cannot say they're part of the military as then they will interrogate you even harder, but with interrogation you can just not give information so the cover story is used so everyone can give the same "information" to the interrogators without giving any real evidence which in real life could jeopardise peoples life's and would legitimise their claims as everyone's should in theory be the same.

From a comment I saw on a different clip, you’re supposed to drip feed information. If you are too stubborn and don’t give them any information (and I assume if you give them too much information too quickly, but I haven’t seen anyone mention this scenario), you have no use to them and they can kill you. If you drip feed information, you’re hoping that you can stall for time and give more time for tactic changes along with hopefully increasing your chances of survival.
