I did all of this in my 2007 ford fusion but now it keeps saying check left light and saying check right light they both work

Probably need load resistors. The car recognizes the difference in resistance between the bulbs. That's what I have to do next. It's relatively simple. But if you have other wiring problems, you can give yourself headaches.
