Great opening, Allan, John Landis would love that. Animal House as become the staple for high school and college comedies since then. Toga! Toga! Toga! Also, the film was shot in Oregon in the same area as Buster Keaton's masterpiece The General.

Arkush is OK with some behind-the-scenes info here, but the thumbs up is for "Animal House" instead. Just seeing the trailer again takes me back to seeing this R-rated classic in the theatre at age 13 with my Uncle Fred. Thanks again, Fred !

one of the funniest movies ever made. The scene where Blutarsky is trying to cheer up Kent and breaks a bottle of beer in his head still cracks me up.

They basically tied a bunch of Doug Kenny and Chris Miller stories from the Lampoon magazine together. That they were all great stories helped immensely.

My parents took my brother, sister and myself to see it when it opened. I was 13, my brother 15 and sister 11. Yes, 11 years old. Pop had no clue about ratings. My brother convinced Pop to take us, because it had John Belushi in it. Pop loved Belushi on SNL. I remember that we were the only kids in the line to get in. Well, Pop learned about ratings real quick into the film (when Otter pulls out the dildo). He laughed so hard, and putting his palm to his head and saying, "I brought my kids to see THIS?!" Not the first pair of tits I saw on screen though. That was at the drive-in, when my parents wanted to see Straw Dogs (my siblings were asleep, but I loved movies and watched from behind my mother's seat). Better days, LOL!
