Two cents from someone who has been consistently going to the gym at 6 am for over a year - find a timeslot that works for you and ❗stick to it for 6 weeks at least❗. Afterwards it stops being a big deal, it just becomes something that you do. It's important for you to feel dread or to feel unmotivated, ✨work out anyway ✨, and realize that it's actually fine and maybe even good --- do that over and over again and it will rewire your thinking ☺

You are very inspiring! I truly mean that. When I was younger I went to the gym with a workout partner and it really made a difference. I was accountable to someone else so I made myself get up at530 am to go to the gym. I’m now 58 and after 5 major back surgeries I’m not able to do much. But I still get up every morning and move. It really does make a difference. Thanks so much for sharing❤

I totally agree! I feel like there’s this 3-month period that you have to struggle your way through to make a new routine. After that, it just stick! Applies to alot of things, not only fitness.

When it comes to fitness, it was essential for me to find motivation beyond the looks. Being healthy and feeling stronger and stronger is a more reasonable motivation than just looking good. 🫶🏻

This is one of the best videos I’ve seen from you! You emphasising that this is a lifestyle change not a quick fix or a trend, and what you give is what you’re going to get. There are no shortcuts and consistency truly is key. I think that you’re doing such a great job explaining what it’s all about and seeing your progress is really inspiring! Btw, I know exactly what you mean about pasta, ice cream and yummy cheeses. Sadly I don’t have a answer for you why once or twice a year ( for me anyway ) you suddenly can’t resist it and have no memory of how you’re going to feel after eating it. I’m not doing HGW, but are going to do HGS ( the s stands for spring ). Thank you for such a great video! 💕

Ahhhhhh! You said HUSBAND and my heart lurched! How fantastic. I love love love this video. I always tell my clients that motivation follows discipline. The discipline gets you there and makes you move, the motivation follows when you start to see the results your discipline achieved. Your approach is entirely safe and healthy. I understand to someone who hasn’t had health priorities that it feels extreme but for those of us who have had health as a priority for ages, this just sounds like….life. I started exercise in my 20’s and now I’m 54 and WOW am I grateful I started when I was young. I have so many friends my age in really rough shape who can’t go hiking with me even, even a walk is a challenge for some. Do it for your future self people! Muscle is absolutely the fountain of youth. It’s essential to aging well. Focus on strength and mobility and honestly, when you’re 60, 70 and more you are going to be so grateful for your younger self developing these habits. Love this Allana! It’s been my career and passion for decades and I love how you approach health in such a balanced sensible way and promote health, not image. You’re awesome! This made me happy 😃

I would really love a breakdown of your home gym setup - what you would prioritize buying if you were starting from scratch, most used equipment, etc. My husband and I don't live anywhere near a gym so we're hoping to build a complete setup in our basement. Thanks!! This series has actually been life changing so I'm really looking forward to more HGW content from you. :)

I've never commented on a youtube video before, but i've never felt so compelled. Thank you for this video and for this series. I have been in such a slump for a better part of this year and it has been tough getting back into my old workout/lifestyle routine and i can't express how much of an inspiration you have been. I watched the hot girl winter video when you posted it, and (funny enough) that's really when it all clicked for me. I can relate to trying different techniques to find your groove, and i want to first congratulate you on your progress and finding the plan that works for you, it's tough. Watching that video totally got me into gear and i've really been working hard to meet my daily goals and maneuver myself through weighing food and creating a calorie plan that works for me. I've been going steady since then and truly i cannot say enough how fantastic these videos about the program and your experince have been. It's unfortunate that people have been negative about some of the things you're saying or your fitness journey in general, but i definitely appreciate what you've chosen to share with us and i've taken this all to heart. This is such a healthy explaination of being comfortable with wanting to do better for yourself and how to go about it, and your thoughts and advice and all that have really been such an inspiration. I can't wait for what more HGW content we get! p.s. the seal sama sause IS actually unbelieveable

For anyone that also isn’t a morning person but also feels the EXACT same about feeling amazing after a morning workout and getting a workout out of the way in the morning. My tip has been prep EVERYTHING you need to get ready the night before. I prep my pre workout and put it in the fridge and have a snack ready, I put my outfit in the bathroom, so I can 1) set myself up for success mentally and 2) only need to roll out of bed in the morning. Hope it helps!

I love all of this and I love that you prefaced with a warning for those who struggle with disordered eating. I’ve seen the comments where people said it was obsessive and as someone who has a vast history with an ED but has been so healthy the last few years, it’s exactly that. Those who have it in their history will project onto you and that’s on them. I’ve had to catch myself when I do that to those in my own life just because they make a lifestyle change regarding their health because it triggers me that I’m not fit enough or small enough and that’s my battle to work through. Or it’s individuals who aren’t educated on the topic and are saying what they’ve heard other people say. But you touched on all wonderful points and I love that you emphasized it isn’t a quick fix!!! I worked the last year at a senior living facility and it was seeing all the hip fractures and weak bone density, etc that makes me want to implement your HGW routines. I want to live healthy, longer. Again, this is amazing!!! Thank you ❤

I’ve lost 30 lbs and feel great! I was talking to my husband earlier today and I admitted that I get a little jelly when I see you working out for 2 hrs but instead of being down about it, I’m doing what I can in this stage of my life. I know as my kids get older I’ll have more free time and I’ll be stronger too. What I have learned through this is consistency is key. I’m not perfect and I have my days but for the most part I just keep going 🙌 Thank you 🥹🫶🏻💞

This was such a fantastic chat. I feel like you nailed it and I’m so proud of you and your maturity around HGW and your personal fitness journey. As someone who struggled with ED in my early 20s none of this content triggers me because I can see how you (compared to other creators) have a really healthy handle and mental attitude towards this and so much of that has to do with professional guidance and education. I’m 31 and started working with a personal trainer once a week (when schedule permits) and I’m trying to build a cadence of 3 workouts in some form every week. Could be a training session, yoga, and maybe a gym session to start. Hopefully I’ll build from there. What we put in our bodies and how we move them is SO important, it doesn’t mean starving yourself or working out until collapse it means listening to your body and honoring it. Lan, if you haven’t heard of Joe Holder he’s another really inspirational person in the wellness space and I def recommend you guys looking him up.

Yes, I am part of the 5 am. club!! Just that alone has changed my mind, body & soul. Along with a workout plan and a good nutritional diet. It's amazing how much better you feel when you cut out the sugary, fried foods, processed foods, etc. This plan I've been on for about a year now makes me feel disciplined and just so much better in general. #teamhotgirlwinter. A great creamy, non-dairy, high-protein alternative to Alfredo: in a blender mix some silken tofu, nutritional yeast, garlic, pepper, cashews (optional) and some sort of broth (I usually use water where I soaked shiitakes or porcini mushrooms). You can also throw a roasted bellpepper (no skin) in there. I make it whenever I'm craving creamy pasta, and it hits the spot everytime.

When you first discussed The Program it all sounded a bit daunting and even calling it that official name made me think it's some crazy regimen but now I get it. This video was so useful, interesting and thought-provoking. Lately I have been looking after myself much better on a "Sarah just do it" basis and you are right that discipline not willpower is key. The avoidance, the excuses, feeling guilty, feeling unhealthy, gaining weight etc, takes so much more time and wasted energy than simply and without fuss eating good food and moving your body more. It's a relief actually.

You inspired me this year to start being consistent as well. I’m regular with my work outs and run in warmer months when Canadian weather allows and go for walks almost daily but because my nutrition was not consistent, I didn’t see any results and even kept putting on weight. I remember how earlier this year you posted your before and after after diy body and talked about for the first time and I was like “it has to stop, I have to start doing something about it and try my best to be consistent”. I found a nutritionist and ahe helped me figure out how to have more balanced meals, what are my correct portions etc I’ve lost 15 lb in like 4-5 months, and the meals I had never felt like restriction or smth and it became my lifestyle- being healthier, eating more veggies and fruits, making sure I have my protein, etc So yeah, thank you for inspiring to do this and taking better care of myself, I’ve never felt better!

As someone who works around health and fitness, I still find it very hard to stay motivated to workout or just go for a simple walk. I’m in my last year of physical therapy school and our schedules can get hectic and I often use it as an excuse to not move my body even though, others in my cohort find time to work out in their busy schedules! This is without a doubt, the least I’ve worked out within a year in my life and I knew something just felt off. I was getting sick constantly, I was anxious all the time, my hair and skin were dull and greasy, lots of bowel and bladder issues, the list goes on 😅 everyone struggles to find a good balance at some point in their life and I really can’t thank you enough for sharing your fitness journey online! It really helped to inspire me to get back into a good routine and move my body in other ways that don’t involve a gym! I showed my boyfriend your HGW (he is a physical therapist and has also been struggling to find time to workout) shorts and we were both so inspired by how much you and Dejan motivate each other and workout together that we started going to bed earlier so we can become morning workout people (A LIFE GOAL) and we are now signed up to take tennis lessons soon!! Thanks so much for being such an inspiration! ❤

Thank you for this kind of chat. I've been going to a nutritionist for the past year so I relate a lot to your thoughts on food and having healthy meals/portions. I've managed to lose 10kg and gain muscles, but I've been struggling for the past weeks (even couple of months) because I know I mess up with my food and, even more so, my alcohol consumption. So thank you for speaking about this. I know what I have to do, I plan to do better, but when I'm faced with the reality, I don't choose the right option (aka, yes to another beer when I said only one, or yes to the cheese and charcuterie when I said we'll eat at home when we get back..). It's hard. So this kind of video/motivational speech helps to remind myself that it's okay to mess up, just get back on track whenever you can to feel less shitty about yourself. Thank you.

I feel like many of us go through that kind shift when we start our fitness journey. Yours sounds similar to mine when I started years ago where I was scared to grow muscle, thinking I’d get bulky and “manly”. I’d do more cardio and was following trends or fad diets thinking that was healthy. I guess focusing on trying to fit into that society standard for women to be small. Fast forward almost 3 years being with my coach and Gfit Wellness and my mindset has totally changed. I’m excited to lift weights, eating to fuel my body and gain muscle, my confidence also boosted so much too!! I think that was the biggest win was I have my confidence back and strong. It’s a journey! We learn a lot through it!

I loved this whole video! I would love to see a video entirely on alcohol. There are a lot of celebrities that are now quitting alcohol, and it would be amazing to hear all your thoughts!

after you started the program.... i did a deep dive (after committing to change in 2022 and being consistent on my own) and I signed up with DIYbody as well. I needed some guidance. I did the initial 16 weeks with a trainer (shoutout to Emily!) who was incredible and it changed my life! I get it... I get all of it. I love how it feels to make activity have a spot on the daily calendar. I never thought I could be 'that person' and realized everyone is 'that person' if they want to be... just had to make the time. I also have 2 preteen daughters and I think it has been a gift to them too... to prioritize health is such an important message for them to see. I look at it like... as parents we have to compete against all the messages in the world, and eating well at home and going to the gym/being active.. those are our messages. The more we show them... the more our messages become what they know vs. whatever else they may see out there. Thanks for being such an inspiration and sharing your journey. I love following along!

I’d love to see a whole video about your relationship with alcohol and how it has changed or ways it hasn’t or challenges along the way ❤

With a heavy schedule and big work load, what has saved me physically but also mentally is to prep! Prep your meals, your outfits, schedule time slots for working out and to not make myself feel bad if one day, I'm not feeling it and not doing it! It has helped tremendously to be patient while having a plan instead of setting myself up with big goals that are not achievable in a short period of time! xxx

THANK YOU for posting "the truth", Sometimes people think that because a person posts one video it happens every time and in the end of the day, people who are good in their dieting and sports, are balancing things and not killing themselves over not doing something one day

Thank you for being REALISTIC! I skip people’s videos that combine “ what I eat in a day” and “my exercise routine at the gym every day.”

I'm not a big believer in the 'aha' moment (long story but basically I feel like we're lead to believe that happens more in life than it actually does) but the Huberman podcast on alcohol absolutely instantly changed my behaviors around drinking. They were somehow the magic words to shift me out of my complacent mindset that informed my drinking habits. I haven't gone sober and do still appreciate a good glass of wine from time to time, but I'm so glad I listened to that insight and was called to action to make a change.

I remember that New Year’s Video! It’s partly what pushed me to try weightlifting and now it’s been three years and we both have biceps. So enjoying your fitness content and would love to hear about your experience with creatine-how does it feel and does it make a difference? Also-I really appreciate your thoughtful disclaimer up top. You jumped through all those hoops with grace. “There’s people who do drugs and I eat an Atkins bar, I don’t know what to tell ya” KILLED me. Xx

i'm a gen z gal who's loving the HGW content 🤍🤍 i have OCD and A/W can be a particularly difficult time of year with regards to my mental health and as a result, keeping up with my routines, so i do try to scale it back to make it manageable and so i don't just completely rot in bed all day, and your HGW content has been v motivating and inspiring - love how healthy and rational your approach is, no gimmicks or unhealthy quick fixes

Oh man I LOVE the stairmaster. I just set up my phone to watch videos and just go through it. I used to have specific shows I was only allowed to watch while on the stair master haha. I haven't had access to one in a few years, but I miss them often.

Watching from Toronto! I have signed up with a PT because how much you have motivated me. I’d be honest, it took me a year of watching until recently when I decided to make the decision. I wish I would have done it sooner, but here I am and excited for what’s to come 🎉

health is so important. the problem is people projecting assumptions and their bad habits onto those who want to have a healthy lifestyle. they cannot understand why we care because it didn’t click for them yet.

Get it girl. While it’s not trendy or sexy, consistency with the simple basics is the most effective tenet of good physical, mental and emotional health : 8 hrs of sleep, lots of water, hitting macros with real whole foods, daily activity/step count, and 3-4X weightlifting. What’s that Mel Robbins quote? “Never let your mood dictate what you do.” You’re inspirational in living it, keep going 👊
