Thank you so much for addressing the motherhood topic and acknowledging that everyone’s life looks different. This is why I love your channel, you share your life and manage to make so many of us feel included. 🥰

Loved your thoughts about motherhood! Not only are there women for whom getting pregnant is not easy, there also women who simply do not want to have children. It’s fine. It‘s their live. It‘s their choice. The exact same way that it is a very personal choice to have kids. It is not that the planet desperately needs more humans. It’s a personal choice and no one else’s business.

Thank you so much for being so candid about this journey, it's been so incredibly inspiring! And especially thank you for being so frank in your discussion about topics related to having/not having children. As a 30+ woman without children, I have so many people in my life that minimize my time, my personal or professional accomplishments, or my choices simply because I don't yet have children. It's so refreshing to see another person be honest about children not needing to be the main defining point of a woman's life. Also lol I know you hate running but HGW has inspired me to officially set up my half marathon training schedule

Amen!!! The one thing that reassures me about my choices are the fact that there are other women feeling the exact same way. Why should not having children mean our accomplishments are less meaningful? Sometimes I feel that no matter how successful I am, it will never be good enough for society as motherhood is seen as the ultimate achievement

I can just simply agree with everything you said. Especially for me, living in the Balkans, where not having children equals to the most vile sin and the worst failure. People, please stop doing that!

I have been taking care of my business partners granddaughter for a month. I never had children of my own so a month was about Max for me. I enjoy their company but I have no intentions nor did I of having my own. My animals take up enough of my time that I don't think I could give the attention to a child anyways. Wouldn't be fair to them. My mom and I are grateful we have no grandchildren. We still have fullfilled lives anyways.

Thank you for sharing your journey with us! Love that you addressed the women without children topic, as a woman in her early thirties who has chosen not to have kids, this has always been a touchy topic for me. Its reassuring when you hear other women talk about not diminishing accomplishments based on whether they are mothers or not is very helpful to remind yourself you are not alone. I think the era of taking everything with a grain of salt and using your own knowledge, intuition and feelings to whether or not you believe, follow, copy, disagree, agree etc is upon us. We are responsible for our own lives and that weight shouldn't be put on influencers or celebrities etc. Yes they hold power, but so do you. Trust you know what's best for you without thinking everyone knows better. Take care of your community, spread love and kindness and most of all take care of you, however that looks.

My therapist the other day when we were talking about my own personal HGW journey said “you’ve told me what you want less of… less drinking, less junk food, less “stuff”, less filler in your routines… But what do you want more of?” and knowing that more didn’t have to be tangible. More time to relax the brain (I’m a teacher full time so that’s hard for me and something I need to work on), more quality time with those you love, more movement… and then prioritizing those mores and knowing that more doesn’t have to mean busier, cluttered, etc. I think one thing I’d love to see from the HGW Series are to see more of your non-tangible mores! We know the program, working out, and the walks are all a part of the overall process and I’m so thankful for the inspiration! I’m just curious to what the other things that fill your non physical cup are and think that also falls into HGW and your overall health 🥰 Love this series so much and it was exactly what I needed this holiday season!

10000000% agree with the low intensity exercise! It was mindblowing to me the change that I've seen with switching to pilates/barre with weight training. I never thought I could become a girl who could find consistency in working out at least 4-5 times a week, but now I see that it can be sustainable! It was totally not sustainable when I was also doing f45 and Orangetheory, and beating myself up if I didn't burn x amount of calories, sweat enough, or if I felt too sore or painful to go to a class I booked. Low intensity for the win! It's helped keep me going this #HGW along with my meal plan, and the changes i've made are forever changes, partly in thanks to you, Lan! It feels so cool to have you and your little community virtually in my corner ❤️ 😭

I love your take Allana, at the end of the day, the will has to be there. There's always a reason to not do a multitude of things throughout our days/weeks/lives but when something is truly important we find a way to make it happen. I have 3 children, work full time and still find the time when I can to have a fitness and wellness journey. It most certainly looks like 45 mins vs 3 hrs but our lives look completely different and I think that's beautiful. Thank you for this HGW series, I've really enjoyed it!!! Sending love for MA

Thank you so much for sharing your HGW journey. I am a mom of 2 little girls, 5 and 11 year old and for a long time taking care of myself was always an afterthought. This was very interesting! 2 things: - thank YOU for the talk about kids (i don't want kids, i love my niece & nephew but I don't want any myself, and some people tend to be "oh yeah, you got promoted? Well you have time to stay late / oh you've lost 15kg? well i mean you have time to workout and cook for yourself" and YEAH that's true but also, does it really take away from my efforts? my motivation this year? the hard work i put in?), - re alcohol: i am SO GLAD i hate the taste and never succeeded in getting into it (i've tried of course, mostly to fit in, but i find it digusting) xx

Omg I could cry, I would be absolutely elated if I won this giveaway. I’ve looked into DIY body, but not knowing if I can afford it has held me back. This would be a huge benefit for me. I’m also reworking the way I view my health and fitness as I’ve spent the last year and a half just eating and doing what I want. It messed with my gut tremendously and I’ve been going back to eating basic Whole Foods finally this last month. I also just celebrated 6 months sober-I wasn’t an alcoholic, but my drinking was more than it’s ever been the last few years and quitting has felt so amazing. I’m ready and really serious to get into my fitness journey and really transform my life. I’m turning 30 in June and my mind and body need this positive change.

I believe it helps tremendously to have realistic expectations. My goal is to move every day (unless I'm sick), but I don't force myself to do a super strict workout routine. If I really don't feel like it, I tell myself I just have to do the bare minimum, which is to *move* in some way, so I might go for a quick walk, do a couple of exercises or a 5 minute workout video. Most days, I'm motivated to do more after that, but otherwise that's fine as well. Consistency is more important to me😊

I've loved this and found this so so so inspiring. I'm also not a high intensity girly - I struggle with asthma and had an ACL repair at the beginning of 2022. I have never commented on any KZbin video ever but this video and giveaway specifically is so exciting and generous. I’m getting married in June 2024 in Vancouver and where I’m from the sun sets earlier and getting the motivation to stay active is getting so so difficult. #HGW has seriously changed my mood during these darker months and got me out of a negative headspace of starting an unrealistic diet weeks before my wedding. I got a walking pad to get my 10k steps in and im smashing 3-4 days at the gym despite my job as a social worker. I appreciate Allana talking about respecting that we all have different lifestyles and what works for you may not work for someone else. It’s been so motivating and also inspiring watching all the #HGW videos. When I look and feel my best for my wedding I legit am giving all credits to Allana and HGW! Lol x

Alana, this has been one of my most favorite episodes. It touches on so many things that so many empathize with. Not only just days where you feel 'grumpy', unmotivated, tired and just 'off' (Ah! The human experience!) - but also thank you for having the courage to speak up and spreading awareness as it relates to women that may not be able to have children, or don't wish to have children. Commenting consciously is so important. I tend to believe that people have inherent positive intent, and don't realize how hurtful or disheartening they are being. Words can leave scars. People's comments affect hearts they may never see, know or understand. May we all practice opening our hearts beyond our own life experience. ♥ ....and I AM TOTALLY ON BOARD with HGW!!!! THANK you for the inspiring content!!! It is so motivating, and look forward to your updates. I haven't started yet, but will be starting this week. WML (is that thing?!)

Thank you for sharing your journey and your thoughts along the way! It is so inspiring and motivating to see HGW and these positive habits you're implementing. I've been inspired to get back into running and it has been so fun! I really appreciate you talking about how everything works differently for everyone. The topic of motherhood can be really delicate for so many people, especially young women, how and when we choose to have children or a family. It is a very personal decision and recently in the US it has become a more scary decision because access to lifesaving healthcare is being taken away. Thank you for talking about it and for the reminder that comments can come off as hurtful or judgmental. Same goes for when you choose to eat or what you eat, relationship with alcohol, etc.

And that’s what you do for me so I am grateful for that.

I really want to shout out the part of this conversation about how every body is different, has different needs and abilities, and therefore there's no one-size-fits-all for "health" and lifestyle changes. I'm so glad you talked about that!! One of the best things I think we can do is get in touch with our own body, its needs/rhythms/sensations, and learn how to work with those. Trust your body - it is not your enemy or something to conquer! 💖

We truly are the captain of our own life and have all the power at improving our wellbeing. As you say, we do only have one body and we must do our best to cherish it. That may look different for many people and it all take time. We must give each other grace/compassion and you show yourself that which is very motivating. I am on my own journey and have been determined to get my body at its prime. I have loved following you for years now and I feel like I have grown with you, it truly means a lot that you put in so much work into all these videos. Happy Holidays ♥ Ps. Would love to see videos on your favourite workout clothing, body care post-workout and if you could develop "challenges" that aim to implement new habits.

I appreciate you mentioning the kids talk. As a 42yr old woman I have been bombarded with having my time diminished or undervalued simply because it is filled with work, heath stuff and other responsabilities instead of kids. If I say Im busy it is either “you couldn’t possibly be THAT busy cause you dont have kids” or if I use my free time for a last minute concert, just going to a movie alone or spontaneous trip there is an attempt to make me feel guilty for having that free time. “Must be nice to not have kids and responsibility to simply be able to grab your keys and go”. I always respond with, “yes, it is very nice. It was my purposeful choice to live this way, just like it was your choice to have kids and fill your life in different ways. I am grateful we both are happy a d satisfied with our life choices.” People need to respect and embrace the one size does not fit all life motto. Adaptation is the key to not just surviving but thriving.

I also wanted to say this give away is actually one of the most productive and rewarding. Yes, beauty stuff is great. It is what I actually “want” and would “rather” win. So many thing in my health finally starting to go well and I have been able to loose over 30lbs and was cleared to start working out. I suffer from a condition of generalized chronic pain and fatigue plus have 4 herniated discs and a tear in my hip joint. I was recommended some low impact strength training and have no clue where to begin. Lime you I ecuated working out with high impact and tons of sweating.

Thanks for touching on the motherhood topic! I said out loud "amen sister" when you said you're not going to let the facts of not having children at this time for whatever reason diminish your accomplishments! Love this because sometimes we're made to feel "less than" if we don't have kids for whatever reasons. Love the honesty and transparency and understanding of your HGW vlogs! ❤

Allana, thank you so much for addressing the motherhood issues. As far as I can remember I have always wanted to become a mother and when I learned at age 15 that I could never have children it broke me and 20 years later it is still a very sensitive subject. Thank you for being compassionate and such a kind human being. I also love the transparency and honesty in all of your content, that is so refreshing especially when it is so much easier with social media to embellish reality.

I feel like we need more of this accessible, flexible kind of content around health and fitness in the world. Allana, I love that you’re a normal person with a job and a life and you make it work for you. It’s motivating me to get it together. We all have busy lives but there’s always something we can do, however small, to make ourselves healthier in some way!

I really appreciate how you are an “influencer” that doesn’t make us feel like we have to be doing exactly what you’re doing or using to have a positive outcome! It’s refreshing! Something I would love to learn more about from #HGW is if you have a full stretching and/or mobility routine. I have always consistently worked out but I stopped a true stretching routine years ago and feel it is a highly important part of a wellness routine!

Loved the intro, b/c you kept it real. The progression of your mood change was obvious, so the tip about getting ready works 😉. It is so true about finding what works best for you. Introduce tips, lifestyle changes, test….what works for you may not work for me, however we must try. I think that is where people are unsuccessful b/c they think it is a one size fits all. If they can’t do it your exact way, why bother. Your giveaways are phenomenal, this one I can tell is the most meaningful to you b/c it is life-changing. Congratulations on the affiliate/discount code, I will look into that!

Been a viewer for at least 5 years now and this is by far one of the most transformative lanmases. Following your fitness journey after hearing about your continuous curiosity in the space and body goals it’s so incredible to see you on the other side of it like this. I started taking health and wellness very seriously a few months ago and am so happy to feel like I’m growing with your content beside you! I’d love to see more on the mental side of HGW in terms of newfound confidence and integrating new styling choices as a result of it. As someone who’s also hoping to feel the most healthy and confident I’ve ever felt, thanks so much as always Allana ❤️

Really appreciate your common sense and thoughtful approach to health and wellness. You’re so right - most of us aren’t professional athletes and we don’t need to live or train like it, there’s no need to “optimize” every aspect of our lives.

Allana, I love you. Thank you for continuously being so transparent throughout your life and speaking upon your passions. As a fellow health, wellness, and strength training girlie I can relate to your conversation in this video so much, and I empathize with your frustration regarding the voices in your comments dimming or speaking ill of your efforts. I started strength training back in nursing school (years ago) after working with an older adult population who struggled to mobilize, and I made a promise to myself that I would make an active effort to do all that I could to never lose my strength and mobility. Thus! the strength training journey began! And just like you, has continued to positively influence my life in all aspect - attitude, diet, sleep etc! I feel so passionately about being a strong, healthy and able human, and when you started your DIY body program, I was FRICKEN PUMPED for you! And I have loved watching you experience all that things that I experienced and continue to experience! WHERE MY STRONG LADIES AT!?

I honestly always enjoy these random, insightful chatty videos of yours. I love what you said about confirmation bias on the internet and how we should only use what we see in this information-overloaded digital space as inspiration and tailor it to what works best for us, individually. I needed to hear that!

The reason I can relate to you is not through what you do in your life, but the whole lot of wisdom that you possess and make known to us in a chat like today’s. Maybe I’m lucky to have learned and understood that vital message loooomg time ago - we’re individuals and it’s best for us to cater individually for our needs and wants. And there are others who can inspire us. I’m definitely inspired by you even though i know some of the paths you’ve taken aren’t for me. There in lies the beauty of life. Take care!

I'm writing this to encourage people to do whatever works for you. I've gotten so many not ver nice comments about only being able to go one day to the gym, and I just want to say one day is so much better than nothing and your body will appreciate it.

I’ve never really drank, a couple of cocktails every now and then, mostly when I was at Uni (now 34) and I genuinely find it disgusting when people drink so much, like it’s poison to your body why would you do that, to me it’s the same as smoking etc. If anyone is looking for a good source of health info I would highly recommend Zoe, it feels non biased and all from a scientific standpoint. I’ve really struggled in 2023 as my hormones have just gone mental and I’ve been so fatigued so I’m determined in 2024 to be better at working out so hopefully by my mid-thirties I will be in a routine for healthy living. Thanks for sharing Lan, these talks by people are age need to happy to help inspire people to do what they can to be healthier

"The chat" part of this video is so illuminating and so educational. I am currently doing a very siimilar program to DIY body - of body recomposition. And I agree with everything you said! I have learned so much about health, fitness, mental health, gut health, macros, muscle mass and working our properly from this program! And yes, its expensive and monotonous, and boring and not exciting to people outside the program, but by doing this, we are saving so much mooney on future medication, treatments, therapy and just generally feeling better as we get older. That is just priceless.

This is SO relatable. Those days when you just can’t seem to get out of your bad mood are killer. I’m so glad you’re opening up about your health/wellness/fitness journey more, and plan to continue. I started mine in September of this year, and though only 4 months in it has changed my life. I still have a long way to go, but I’m excited to see where it takes me. This giveaway made me tear up. The fact that both you and DIY body are offering something like this that can change someone’s life in such a positive way brings me so much joy. ❤

You and your wellness journey has been so inspiring to watch - what an amazing gift you are giving to us all to motivate positive change and to give hands on help with the diybody collab! I feel inspired to make more changes and have a hot girl winter and life. Working in health care the last few years was crazy and I felt lost in motherhood coming back from a mat leave to the pandemic. There really is no higher currency in life than health - I started following diybody because of you and have been itching to pull the trigger and dive in. My husband and I were planning to sign up in the new year as anniversary gifts to each other. Thanks for the great Lanmas! Seeing more recipe/food videos in 2024 would be awesome - I too love wet food 😂

HGW has completely changed my perspective on health and fitness - I’ve always been a relatively sporty person but have never been a gym gal and honestly used to kind of resent people who were really into the gym. But it was because diet culture and fitness ‘bros’ never resonated with me - it’s so aggressive and intense and weight loss focused, but your focus on just feeling good in your body really hits home. I’m now genuinely excited to focus more on my wellbeing in 2024 and make it something fun and exciting rather than daunting, so thank you Lan, real pleasure to follow along with your journey ☺️💕

Thank you so much for addressing the kids topic. My husband and I want kids so badly and are unable to and the amount of times I’ve been told “you don’t know tired of busy until you have had kids.” So I’m not allowed to be busy or tired or run down ever in my life!? You know what else keeps me busy and tired ? Infertility. Type 1 diabetes. A job that impacts students. Etc. This was a good word lady. Good on you!
