For many people it can be! And it is a great tool for balance, range of motion and pain management Not everyone can handle it so I always advise starting slowly. The body focus can trigger abuse traumas for some.

Thank you so much for this very informative video. Definitely the breathing exercises helped me since I have begun to share the long term violent traumas with my therapist. Now I actually will do the breathing exercises before our session. However I still will completely disassociate when recalling some of the more traumatic experiences. Would you have maybe some advice on what to ask my therapist to help me stay in the present?

You’re so welcome. I am grateful to be of help and I appreciate you watching the video. If you are dissociating, a great grounding technique is the: who, when, where, what why. Practice deep breathing while you are grounding. Some people, when they practice that deep square breathing will dissociate (like you do), but if you practice it while you are grounding, it keeps you focused in the present moment. One of the things that I like to do is the who, when, where, what, why. Who am I? When (what day/ month / time of day is it?) Where am I? ( Who am I with? I am safe.) What am I doing? Why am I doing that? Here are the videos on grounding, to help you learn more grounding techniques : kzbin.infosearch?query=grounding

I had a tumor on my brain stem removed 30 years ago. In doing so, my right vagus nerve was severed. Along with speech and swallowing being damaged, I have only recently learned how integral the nerve is to the mind/body interface. My querying neurologists about a possible relationship between my surgery and my affliction of Fibromyalgia, for the past 5 years, has revealed there is little relevant research in this area. So, I am learning what I can. Any credible suggestions would be appreciated. 🍁

A tens machine with a vagus nerve machine attachment can work wonders.
@DocSnipes4 ай бұрын
Great point! A TENS machine with a vagus nerve attachment can indeed be beneficial for enhancing vagal tone. I actually have a video that dives into this topic in more detail: *Revolutionizing Opioid and Trauma Treatment with Neurostimulation*. You can check it out here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZq6m4ufqcqsm6s.

You offer so much helpful education and support and love how you are incarnating WOMAN!!! 🧡 I trained in Somatic Experiencing to help myself with my severe dysregulation that I have NOT been able to manage and learning that my vagus nerve is super compromised from my severe Cervical spinal stenosis, where I think the Vagus nerve runs through. Curious if you feel I am out of luck as i have suffered massive, chronic insomnia, gut issues, panic etc and nothing I do helps to any significant degree due to my vagus nerve being impinged. I have had CPTSd and struggling to heal due to my incapacity to downregulate as a result of this and wondering if you can offer any suggestions?

With this kind of thinking I can trace back in my mind where I lost my PEACE during this day. I can see that something happened that bothered me to set off the cascade. It is like I was doing okay, that then something happened and I got "all up in my head" with fear or anger. "Retro-specting" like this is like prospecting the past to get a sense of what happened to me. This grounds me right back in my self... things start to take back their normal shape and I can go back to thriving with a full cup. 🥤 It is also about how it might be someone else's energy that got me into the bad place too with an attempt to get me off my path and on to theirs and their needs. But I have my boundaries to keep me from getting deep stuck in someone else's needs. Listening to these videos helps me move from the complete trauma response of extreme need and lack into a strategy of getting centered in the awesome of my power in the moment. 🧁 This is the opposite of trauma for me. I am pulling out of the trauma that has gripped me from age 11 when we moved and I lost all my support for the me I loved and enjoyed. THANK YOU Doc Snipes. I am repatterning my brain.

Thank you for your feedback. I understand your perspective, but it's important for me to use inclusive language to respect all gender identities. KZbin can demonetize my video if there are complaints about not respecting gender identity. I hope you understand the need for this approach. Thank you for your understanding and support.

… I suppose so… Maybe she wanted to INCLUDE both partners? Some couples DO say "we are pregnant!" Or "we are expecting a baby in May" etc...? 🤔

Yes. Some couples say “we are people” and studies show that pregnancy and postpartum depression affect both partners, male and female. www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fpsyg.2018.01728/full Thank you for watching!
