After a very abusive childhood, you've halped explain things about my brain and trauma that helped me move forward to dealing with some core issues that I was still holding onto because my body was reacting as if I was still in the past. I've watched so many of your videos and I am in therapy again. It has helped me realize where my fear and anxiety were coming from and learn to heal that. I was on anxiety meds the last two years and I don't need them anymore. I finally feel like I'm living life in the present. Thank you!

What all videos did you watch
@nw68662 жыл бұрын
@@latishaharris31 Hi. I started off because my therapist mentioned CPTSD and I didn't understand why my body kept responding the way it does when I'm in a different space and had already dealt with so much already. I watched Complex PTSD (CPTSD) and strategies to cope and then The Neurobiological Impact of Psychological Trauma: Understand the Impact of Trauma on the brain. That helped me understand why I'm still having issues. I'm not going to list every video, but here are the key ones after that. Healing the inner Child: Addressing Trauma and Abandonment, Tips for Reprogramming Your Subconscious with Guided Imagery, Adverse Childhood Experiences and Trauma. I did a lot of reparenting (I'm sure there are videos on youtube for this). All of it was about dealing with the fear mindset from the past and assuring myself that I'm safe in the present and don't need to react that way anymore. There was a lot of visualizing key trauma in the past and mentalling assuring myself at the time that I am find now and making peace with myself. That has helped my anxiety go away. I had to get over my tired of being tired tantrum and being mad at still having to deal with this at my age, and understand my brain and why. That helped me focus and keep going. I wish you luck on your journey.

Although I find counselling helpful, the struggle I have is, with all this new information and self awareness, ultimately it's up to me to fix it all on "my own". And when you already feel very weak, vulnerable and sometimes incapable of helping yourself it seems to me unrealistic to me to expect me to do it all by myself! I almost feel like I need the counsellor to be with me 24/7 to support me as I'm trying my hardest to change old behaviours and patterns of thinking. Don't get me wrong, the hour I have each week with a counsellor is very helpful and supportive but it feels to me I need a lot more than 1 hour a week in order to change as a person.

As far as I understand how counselling works, it is a success when through working with the counsellor you are able to make beneficial changes outside of the session. The more you are able to sustain these changes, like in the way you think about yourself, or how you react to stress, the more confident you get in your ability to reach your own goals and live your life meaningfully. So counsellors are supposed to maintain a boundary to protect you from relying on them for your emotional validation, which is the opposite of helping you. Hope you hang on, increased self awareness is great and I'm rooting for you to find your way through your struggle

The views of Dr are elaborate and helpful. Human beings,if we perceive as a system, the systems always resist change.We are a complex system of biopsychosocial one.we dislike the unfamiliar and always like the comfort zone.Its an area of our amygdala through millions of years of evolution controlling our emotions like fear, anxiety and the like.We need support from outside (psycho therapy, motivation and unexpected circumstances ) come in to override the learned helplessness as Martin Seligman found out in his research found out as a barrier for treating depression.This video is inspiring,but very academic.Dr could make it more digestible for the common man through examples of case histories and enlarging on the Domino effect, brain hacks etc.I really enjoyed the video and its content. Moreover, your lovely voice is very soothing. Congrats for your commitment and deep knowledge.

Things falling apart again..but how if we now kmow and promise to ourself to APPLY WT WE KNOW TO ASSESS THE REALITY AROUND US WITHOUT DENYING TO OURSELF THE OUTCOME OF THE ASSESSMENT? WE are becoming LOYAL TO OURSELF right? So..DO WE WANT TRUST OURSELF AND SUPPORT OUR ASSESSMENT CAPACITY? WANT WE TRUST OURSELF?..There is lot to do, but you YOU ARE NOT ALONE AND YOU ARE DEFINITELY ON THE RIGHT PATH..GO ON, GIVE UP ON THE SXXTS OF THE PAST, NOT ON YOUR LIFE: YOU ARE NEEDED TO EVERYONE AROUND YOU AND LOVED..LOOK FOR THOSE THAT REALLY LOVE YOU, AND EVEN IF THERE IS JUST YOURSELF..YOU ARE ENOUGHT TO BE YOYR BEST FRIEND, AND PLS REMEMBER THAT JESUS OF NAZARETH IS ALWAYS WAITING OUTSIDE YOUR DOOR..woukd you like to let Him enter to heal you?..trust this YOU ARE NOT ALONE, we all replying to you see you and love you, even without knowing you directly, just cause all what you are through!!!♡♡♡♡♡ Trust Yourself and Jesus of Nazareth, restart from there! So many info here, that I will have to retouch my observations multiple times. Sure, lets look at the facts behind our feelings..lets say we feel to do not have been loved. Ok, with the professional we can verify if the facts /situations behind our feeling were motivating it..we can check with the Doc if those facts were normal within a standard level or hide some pathology..okay so we receive the definition of those facts as not normal, not in the average ..this means WE ASSESSED OUR REALITY CORRECTLY AND OUR FEELING WERE CORRECTLY ROOT. VALIDATION.. It is not that we are going to look for our failure in assessing the reality. We cant ho check the facts to gaslight how we felt. Our professional should validate us to support us in facing the agonizing thruth that WE WERE RIGHT IN CONSIDERING THEM BAD, SO OUR FEELINGS WERE AND ARE CORRECT..WT TO DO YO HEAL THIS WOUND NOW? Already calling this technique FACE PALM sounds to guilt trip the patient who went through this! I so would like the therapists could stop shift blaming and guilt tripping their patients!!! Lets never forget that the person that is now in the mental condition is there ONLY BECAUSE WHO CAUSES THE DAMAGE NEVER GO TO THERAPY..AND THEY ARE THE FIRST ONE TO NEED IT!The Kind agreable person has been only used and manipulated abused even via phisical threats, reason why in position of powerless adopted survival mechanisms of codependency..but pls Docs, DONT LOOSE FROM YOUR KIND THE FOCUS ON WHO STARTED THE NIGHTMARE!!
