Here’s my performance of Allein Gott in der Höh’ sei Ehr’ (P.10) by Johann Pachelbel. This chorale prelude is based on the Lutheran hymn of the same name, which dates back to the early Reformation period. The hymn itself is a German paraphrase of the Latin Gloria in Excelsis Deo, traditionally sung in worship to give praise and glory to God.
In this piece, Pachelbel weaves the hymn melody into a beautifully crafted texture, showcasing his skill in creating flowing lines and balanced harmonies. The structure reflects a meditative yet joyful spirit, capturing the essence of the text it’s based on.
