Smaller churches are often served perfectly well by an analog mixer - they are much easier to train people on (especially those who are visual learners) and those who learn on analog can easily switch to digital later on. Those who learn on digital often have difficulty visualising signal flow and hence need help when switching to analog.

I asked Allen and Heath support about the pre-mute aux out and they came back quickly saying that there is a jumper mod that a service centre can perform to make the aux post-mute aux. It's shown on the schematic in the manual. If it weren't for that, this would be a great mixer. Meanwhile I have to work with what I have... mics will all need mutes and gooseneck mics can't be on foldbacks I guess... wait til the 1 year warranty runs out and bust it open!
@GLBProductions Жыл бұрын
Interesting information! Pre- and post-mute aux sends have different uses: pre-mute is the standard for recording, where the artists need to be able to hear themselves even if what they are playing is not being sent to the recorder. It's also the standard for in-ear-monitors. All the best with your setup!

So, at the 9:00 minute mark, you talk about the 100Hz HPF but using your voice as an example probably didn't do it justice. What I have found is that it removes the rumble from an exhale very nicely since that portion of sound is down in the double-digit Hz range. After watching your video to understand my ZEDi 10fx, I tried a few different scenarios and said breath rumble, fluorescent hum, a dryer, all were impacted by the switch. You just have to be conscious of what you could remove, especially in a studio.

1 second ago GREAT little mixer with just one snag - the channel aux (monitor send) output stays on when you mute the channel. I had to open up the mixer and move a few wires around on the channel PCB's to mute the aux out when the channel mute buttons are pressed. I probably voided the warranty when i did this. USB recording out works GREAT, though there are a lot of USB mixers out there these days.

@GLBProductions Жыл бұрын
Hi there Martin! No please do NOT use a 3.5mm to XLR male adapter - you will lose information when you hard-wire the two stereo channels together like that. If you want to save a channel then use a signal combiner such as a stereo to mono DI box - there are several of those available on the market such as the Radial ProAV1 or Whirlwind PCDI.

@GLBProductions3 жыл бұрын
Hi Damian - if the echoes are caused by the physical size of your church there is nothing you can do about that on the mixer 😉 Highly reverberant spaces like that need to be addressed by a combination of good system design, speaker choice and placement as well as managing people's expectations.

Hi Bruno! I'm from Argentina and your videos are awesome, really clear so I would like to ask you to explain how the dbx driverack pa2 works. I'm starting in the business and I'll buy 2 mains R112, 2 subs R118, 2 amplifiers and a mixer mg166c, all yamaha. I read about dbx pa2 and it has really good critics so I'll buy it for crossover, eq, anti feedback. The thing is I don't know how to use it in a proper way. The driverack has a speaker list where you can select your speakers and your amplifiers to save time in the configuration, if my speakers don't show I'll have to select 'not listed' and the dbx would take a 'default setup' or something like that. In summary, a good tutorial about this driverack would be really really helpful in order to configure perfectly the PA. Dbx pa2 has lots of features and there is no video in KZbin that is worth it.
@GLBProductions7 жыл бұрын
Hello Sil nice to hear from you. May I suggest that before you buy the driverack PA2, you ask the store you are intending to buy from if they can provide training for the product? If you are getting into this professionally you need face to face training on the processor from somebody who can answer questions and help you set it up for your specific system. Even if the store cannot provide training, they should be able to make arrangements with your country distributor for it to be conducted.

Bruno brother I have a question,why I am use geq in pa setup instead of active crossover & what is the difference between this two things?
@GLBProductions7 жыл бұрын
A graphic EQ is a big tone control device, used to adjust the sound of your PA system. An active crossover is a dividing network used to split the fullrange signal coming from your mixer into different bands (low, mid, high) to be send to different types of speakers. They have two different functions, and you often use them at the same time.

These are all in the same class of mixer, but they differ in detail, as you have noted. Look very carefully at the features offered by each manufacturer and decide which one suits your needs best. If possible try and examine the mixer physically in person to see which one you prefer. One significant disadvantage of the A&H is that it has no 1/4" main outputs, only XLR - this can be a significant problem for some users!

Hi, thank you for the video. I have a zed 10. I have look everywhere but can‘t understand the recording out RCA. I figured out how to send my analog signal into my daw, routing thru the mains and the fx and aux out. This is not the clean sognal For the clean signal I can do it thru the inserts, first stage of the plug. Is this rca copy of the mains or I can use it as an extra „aux out?“ For example channel 1 and 2 thru the mains, hard pan left and right... for the channel 3 and 4, I‘d use the fx out and the aux out, with the faders out. 3, I‘d use fx out with closed aux and faders, for the 4, I‘d use aux out with the faders and fx closed. This way I can rout 4 channels at once into my audio interface. I was wondering if I can rout the stereo channels thru the rca output without having an interference from the mains One last question is you use this „y“ cables. U also mentioned doing this and address it to a di box or splitter. Could you please clarify what and how I can use it? Thank you so much for the video! Much much appreciated
@GLBProductions5 жыл бұрын
Hi Ed, the record out is a separate post-fader bus that is fed by the same switches that control the USB out. So it is affected by both fader and pan control positions. It is not a copy of the main mix unless the selector switches are set to 'main mix' ie both switches OUT. If you need more detail than this I strongly suggest that you write directly to A&H and describe your specific set up and what you are trying to achieve. I don't understand your question about Y-cables - could you please be more specific.

This setup with an external power amp is actually more common - powered mixers tend to be restricted to lower power applications. Most mixers do not have built in amps.

If you were mixing live and had subs in the main mix, you would hear the HPF engaged vs non. PS, you _did_ have some LF cut during your demo.

I'm buying a mixer in a few months and I have been looking at the Zed-10FX, which is quite similar to what you are explaining. I've been also looking at a Soundcraft Signature 10. Do you know how the 2 compare in build quality?
@GLBProductions7 жыл бұрын
That's a good question - soundcraft build quality has always been good and in my experience their analog mixers last a very long time even when used hard. However the signature series is relatively new (introduced in 2015) so long term reliability is yet to be determined. I would say that you would need to look at price, feature set and very importantly service and support in your area before making a decision.
@jeromemckenna71027 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply. You've given me a lot of useful information. The prices for both the Zed-10FX and the Signature 10 are similar and their features are similar enough for my purpose. Your information on the difference in construction between the Allen and Heath and the Yamaha MG series is what has pushed me in that direction. I am replacing an old Yamaha unit (the Em1400 a powered mixer), so Yamaha was the place I started.

I’m trying to add fx pedals to affect all channels. I didn’t it easily with Mackie Mix8. I just bought Allen&Heath Zed 10x. I can’t seem to figure it out. :( please help ).

On that mixer you can use the main mix inserts to add effects pedals to the mix.
@aidanvinum6 жыл бұрын
GLB Productions How...exactly?
@GLBProductions6 жыл бұрын
Using the insert cable that I show in the video, connect the output of the insert point (tip) to the input of the first pedal and the return of the insert point (ring) to the output of the last pedal. Note that this will only affect one side of the stereo signal (left or right, depending on which insert point you use).

i'm still quite confused as to how many usb channels can be sent separately into the computer (DAW)

It's bi-directional so two channels in either direction.

Hi Ed, these mixers are very different in terms of their channel count, number of subgroups and outputs, type of EQ and physical size. They are all decent boards and I might choose any of them depending on my needs for that job. I think you need to define your own needs more clearly in order to help you make that choice.

The USB interface on that mixer is similar in that you have buttons to choose which outputs are fed to the computer. Audio is returned to the ST3 channel only.

@@GLBProductions I was getting cross track recording due to the stereo return the loop back through main L R outs for monitoring. To prevent this would you suggest having my return St3 routed to the channel fader or aux 1 aux2 for alt output.
