Had a F2 fault on that generation boiler a few months ago. Boiler would light but go out. I did all usual checks gas vavle injector venturi cleaned heat exchanger checked flue and condensate but not sorted. I just did a training course with Ideal a few days ago and we were instructed to do a resistance check in the spark generator in megaohms. I was unaware of this at the time of break down but the Ideal trainer told me that unlike the next 2 generations of logics the flame rectification was tied in with this particular 2009 model combi's spark generator. Totally surprised me because the boiler would ignite but as i found out it did so with a fault included in with spark generator. You live and learn i suppose what made it worse was that it was located in a busy hair salon. One thing that i find with the Ideal logic installer and servicing manual is ther are no part numbers included in the parts legend page?. Great videos Alan kevin👍👍👍

Had this on a Remeha Quinta pro. Worked fine then an hour or too later ignition issues. Tested fine when cold but ignition transformer bolted to side of exchanger, not great 😀

Hi what if the display is lit, but the boiler doesnt ignite? no blue light is showing any more and no heating.

I’m having issues getting my ideal boiler to run the hot water independently, I don’t know if I’m doing anything wrong. I’m setting the thermostate to were it clicks 😢 heating works just fine any ideas ( I had a gas service guy here today but I turned the thermostat off again and no hot water will kick in again)

In general, find heat exchngers last longer when weather compensation is connected. The heat exchanger operates at a lower temperature most of the time.

Thanks Kevin and Allen, very informative videos. I've came across a few logics that have a howl/wailing noise which appears from the venturi area, sometimes helped with venturi cleaning out but not always and often intermittent with no fault codes. Do have any tips on identifying the cause?

Will be a dirty injector or gas valve issue. Go for injector first. If you can’t clean it. Replace it

Ive done a few of these faults. In every case if the boiler/fan/venturi are clean then its been the gas valve, particularly bad when on low rate, sometimes leading to a flame loss error due to the unstable flame. They can rumble like crazy on low rate.

Unsoldering the fuse and inserting a new one is not a great task and would save a lot of money on a new pcb. What size is it, and where are they available? Most probably available in any electronics shop. Bad design in that they do not have a replaceable cartridge fuse. In fact a fuse carrier and replaceable cartridge fuse could be soldered in. Two wires soldered in, with an inline fuse carrier.

It’s not just the fuse. You still need the harness and transducer. At a manufacturer level, we don’t repair as a replacement is a much more reliable repair. But I agree with you that if you have the expertise then replacing the fuse is much cheaper. However I bet most plumbers won’t.

@@kevincranfield5235 Kevin, I am aware the harness and transducer needs to be bought. But the heavy expense of a new pcb can be avoided for a small cost and and 15 mins of time. If the fault reoccurs or other fault blowing the LV fuse, the fuse can be easily replaced. I do have the skills to unsolder a component on a pcb. ;) In fact most plumbers could do it using a soldering iron and long nosed pliers to pull the ends on the fuse out one by one. Or in this case cut out the fuse, then solder the fuse holder"s wires to the lugs sticking out you used to do the test with the meter. BTW, a place in Watford, CET LTD, does reconditioned exchange pcb's. Inc' Logics. Cheaper than a new one.

Hi Kevin, I had this fault today, low voltage fuse blown, green stain on transducer. Cleaned up connections on harnesses and transducer with oil spray. Replaced pcb and everything works OK. Made a jacket for the transducer with insulation tape. Thanks for the video

I have an ideal and the other day my boiler was serviced, since then I turned the heating on and it went straight to 4 bar pressure in 5 mins Plus I’ve started losing pressure gradually, over the past months the pressure has always been bad and I’ve had to refill

Hi Kevin, I have a logic that makes a rumble sound only on first fire, then it's ok? I've flushed the heat exchanger, checked the burner and condensate, still does it.... only on it's first ignition sequence, any ideas? Gas rate and combustion readings are fine.

almost certainly the gas valve. its a known issue. Put it in service mode low rate and if it rumbles then change the gas valve. hope this helps

If it’s the 24v Honeywell gas valve, then it is quite possible as there is a small white plastic cap inside which regulates the throttle on minimum fire which sticks. It allows too much oxygen and not enough gas to flow and therefore the flame extinguishes and try’s to relight itself on the burner which creates the sound. If it is an older model with a different valve then it could be the injector or flue seal etc etc. hard to say without being there.
