Good video, when you rewired from 230v on/off to opentherm did you also put back the link wire inside the boiler ?

Has anyone used Opentherm on the Baxi 600/ 800 using Drayton Wiser? From what little info I've found, it seems you need a 2 channel model, as Baxi need an input of 50 degrees for the hot water, even though you only need Opentherm to control the heating flow temperature. Is this right in your experience? Thanks for these videos Allen, they're not just informative, but your style is easy to watch and listen to. Well done.

I have a Baxi 800 system boiler with Drayton Wiser, I spoke to the technical line about a year ago and they said I can’t use open therm with my set up. Seems a shame. I imagine with a Combi it’s possible.

@@AllenHart999 Thanks Allen. Like so many things at the moment, this industry is a state of flux (no pun intended). Opentherm is the current 'great hope' of the industry, but not everyone is signed up. Whichever controls you buy now could end up as the Betamax of the future.

Hi Allen! Thanks a bunch for your videos-they've been super helpful! I'm gearing up to switch from a Room Stat to OpenTherm on my Ideal Independent Combi 24, but I've hit a bit of a snag. Right now, my setup goes from ROOM STAT/TIMER to the thermostat, using the boiler's timer clock. But, I noticed there's no link in the OPENTHERM connection on the right side panel (next to WEATHER COMPENSATION) like you showed in the video. From what I gathered, the first move is to unplug the harness behind the boiler's timer (not covered in the video) and connect it to an unused harness nearby. I guess this will disconnect the timer, and link the circuit to allow OpenTherm. After that, I'm supposed to unplug the two wires from the ROOM STAT/TIMER connection on the left side panel and stick them into the OPENTHERM connection on the right side, just like your video. I also need to flip the cables from COM to OT in the room thermostat. The only thing tripping me up is whether, after doing all this, I should pop the link back in the ROOM STAT/TIMER on the left side or leave it empty. Would really appreciate your help on this-it's the last piece I need to get OpenTherm up and running. Thanks a ton!

Hi, I’m about to try the exact same.. the way I’m going to do it is to leave the thermostat connecters free from the thermostat on the boiler and just connect them on the other side to open therm .

Hey @@rich8561! I have installed it like this, and it seems to work well. At least, the boiler gets the signal to turn on when the temperature is below the set temp on the thermostat.

I advised a landlord with 3 HMO's to install Hive stats in his houses in multiple occupation and take out the existing wall stats and timers from the front panels of the boilers. So that he could control the time parameters and target temperatures for heating. His tenants were running the heating 24/7, 365. It was costing him an absolute fortune. He really didn't want to penalise his tenants by putting up their rent, to cover the rise in gas prices. So, by taking control of when the properties were heated and negotiating and consulting with the tenants, he could come to an arrangement. Spoke to him the other day. If tenants couldn't afford the rent, would he file for and force eviction? Regrettably, he said he may have to consider that option. I asked him if he would enter into a Faustian pact with SERCO. Who would guarantee his rental income and manage his properties and would even cover costs for repairs from even malicious damage, if he chose to accept SERCO's offer and have refugees as tenants. He said... "NO!" He'd bend over backwards to try and help students, young professionals, those who could not afford a mortgage or were working away from home as much as he could. The landlord is himself the son of a refugee. Greek, Cypriot. I'm worried. Again!

Alan I have just bought a SALUS RT520RF THERMOSTAT . GETTING CONFUSED HOW TO WIRE IN TO A MAIN ECO BOILER. I CAN GET POWER TO THE RECEIVER BOTH LIGHT ARE ON SOLID, BUT WHEN I INCREASE THE TEMP TO TEST IT WOKING BOTH THE BOILER HAS A LOOP AS DOSSE THE RECEIVER . CAN YOU ADVICES ME . Hi Allen, good timing with this video. Last week I helped by son swap out his Danfos thermostats for wired Tado ones. We set them to com and N.o. I say them because this is a two zone system with an Ideal combi boiler - could be the same model as the one in the video (Barratt newish build if your familiar with what system they install). So would you just wire both Tado's to the one opentherm block? Has the data from each thermostat a unique identity? also do you have to put the red link back? Thanks.

I loved all your videos over the years and this one didn’t disappoint. Very good! You always come across honest. Keep up the good videos. I have a problem you might be able to help with. I have a Ferroli optimax HE25S gas boiler it’s about 12 years old now. The mother board had a intermittent problem, it would stop for no reason. I’d take it out look at it (no signs of damage) and refit It. It would work for years, I thought it was a cracked PCB. However I ordered a new PCB (DIMS23)for a UK supplier and when I fitted it comes up with an error code F37. No program book came with it and the supplier has no idea. Would you or your contacts know how I can change the program or have a programming book? Many thanks and a happy Christmas to you and your!

@@psi10001 Thanks Rod, I only get that code with the new PCB and not with the old PCB. System pressure is ok at 1 to 1.5 bar. I think I just need the program book to set the new one. Thanks again for your help.
