Allen just watched your video and noticed when the electrician was talking about his test it looked like the gas meter had no bracket yet it had an anaconda feeding it to the ecv and lead off the out let did you remove the lead for fixed pipework as per regs ?

@@AllenHart999 Allen apologies its In bs6400 clause 8.2.7.2 so it's not a regulation its advisory so my apologies It says that a meter shall be supported so as to restrict movement and I was not being funny but an anaconda and a lead outlet dose not restrict movement just my opinion did not mean to offend I just remove the lead and repipe with rigid pipework if I come across a meter with no bracket Kind regards

Thank you for your inspirational video. Having completed 24 years military service at the age of 45. (Still fit and healthy, have another 60 years in me!) This is my resettlement training choice. Gas Safe registration once complete will be a fantastic achievement and I hope, will provide a foundation for entry level employment and a bright future in the civilian world. Where I can still contribute to society and hopefully supplement my military pension. Thank you once again!

Great job Alan ,so many cowboys about these days . Did have a look at that air separator. Think it's curing a problem that does not exist on pressure systems ,If a pressure system that has been correctly installed and commissioned is giving up air constantly then it probably has a leak somewhere . I always thought it unnecessary for boilers to have auto air vents which are problematical as well .The Dutch boiler manufacturer Intergas just had a manual vent placed at the top of the boiler which worked fine .Have you come across them only 4 moving parts The water heats via a coil similar to the instantaneous multi point water heaters of old . I watched the video to the end also The best always cost s bit more but most of the time it's money well spent!

If you are installing an unvented cylinder above the highest outlet on the system. You should install, an anti-vac valve. Some Worcester cylinders have them incorporated on the combination valve. The cylinder can implode, due to siphonage. as your man stated. The valve should be installed on the outlet pipe. Allowing air to enter the system. This disrupts the siphoning. Due to negative pressure in the cylinder. The anti-vac valve opens, enabling air to enter, the system. I hope this info makes sense?

You dont need to mains Feed a Combination boiler, i often keep the CWST and fit a pump, then the customer can have better flow and pressure

Detest combi boilers! Give me a tank any day. Modern pressurised cylinders are in another league to any miserable combi, both in terms of performance and overall user experience. Fortunately many developers finally seem to understand that combis are not great in family homes and are installing megaflo type systems now. Sadly, too many homeowners don't realise the drawbacks of combis until it's too late and the things are already installed. Every single property I have owned or lived in with a combi has had issues with it. Needless to say I rip them out now as a priority when doing a refurb.

So let me get this right, you doing a refurb right and the young lad working with you says, hey boss there's a brand new Vitodens 200-W in the airing cupboard and you reply... Get that dirty stinking combi boiler on the skip now... But boss it's brand new... I don't care if it's gold plated son, it's a combi, skip NOW 😂

Hiya Allen. How do you work out how much expansion is required in a heating system. As in do they spec in boiler manufacturers instructions how much there ev can cope with. Is it square literage as would you measure that beforehand. You could put so many gadgets on couldn’t you descaler , magnet. Mini shock arrester cold water filter. External expansion vessel. Ever fit them all. I love the idea with full ball iso valves on pipes to. 👍 😊. Harry.

Also. Is that a Nordstrom power flusher. Do they all come with the magnets built in. 👍. So cool.

Great improvement, but should we really still be swapping out hot water tank systems for combis when heat pumps are the future, in 5-10 years you'll be putting a tank back in?

Hi I've just started watching your video's, I'm due to have my gas fire back boiler replaced for a combi in the coming weeks. I'm so worried about this because the hot water tank is in the living room and obviously the boiler will have to be relocated, and as I live here and can't move out I just overwhelmed by the thought of the work moving my belongings around. Anyway great video's.

Is there an advantage to using 22mm tee with end cap on the flow and return? I always use 22mm - 15mm drain off and connect to that. I guess advantage with the 22mm tee used in this video is that you can then use 22mm hose when flushing? Anyone got view on this finer point of installation in this vid. Great and informative video BTW. Cheers.

Great video, well done. What is the name of that part that cover/isulate the flue pipe? 26:40 is it a flue liner? Or should I use a superfoil pipe wrap? And then decorate arround with plasterboard...

Sir being a formally qualified spark, I worked regularly with a plumber, who taught me a lot about your game. He didn't have a gas sniffer. But you appear to have a water sniffer. Do you know how these bits of kit work? Great videos btw. ( I got sick, so had to retire)
