Thankyou for this comment I was too at a D at end of year 12. I didn’t really do any revision in year 12 to be honest just thought I would fly through it like I did my GCSE’s. Since beginning of year 13 I’ve been doing 30 hours a week of revision in chem and just praying it pays off in my mock next week

Thanks for the revision videos, they're so helpful! I was just wondering (at 17:00 of the video) for fragmentation of propanal and propanone, how do you know which major fragments will appear? For example for propanal, why is it less likely to create a CH3 and a CH2COH fragment?

You will get them, but because the other slices give you bigger m/z values, these fragments are the most common and what helps you determine the structure. A lot of alkanes and organic chem can have CH3 if you think about it, its about relatively to the whole molecule, what's most likely to be made- hence we look at the fragments and the numbers, and use this data! Just wondering at 22:00 with the distillation process, if your compound had a higher boiling point than the starting mixture, wouldn't you need to heat to a temperature below that of the product you want to remain the the round bottomed flask? Thanks.

Hi, thanks for the revision uploads. they are very useful! Is it possible to do a video on Grignard reagents for edexcel. I heard its one of those big topics that are likely to come up in this years exam as they are new to the spec. Any guidance would be wonderful!

Yes Grignard reagents are for Year 2 and I have not done revision videos for year 2 yet. That will be for next year.

C-H bond peak used to analyse for Alcohol? But isnt C-H in every type of Hydrocarbon

The O-H peak analyses for alcohols should be a broad peak in an IR chart.
