40:56 The judges do have a "resistance to the traditional". The "traditional" artists never win and it is rare to see one in the top 3. She is right! They'd rather pick someone using kindergarten colors creating a mood than someone with an amazing ability to paint an actual PORTRAIT. But I do admire the artist, all of them!! I think the judging criteria should be "who do the judges think the Queen would have picked to paint her portrait?". I think that would be fair for all types of artist and hold to some kind of standard.

'Traditional' style: Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, Medieval, Baroque, Neo-Classical, Romantic, Pre-Raphaelite..? Sadly for you, Thomas Kinkade died some years ago.

Frances should call the police. She was robbed from the position of finalist. I REALLY REALLY REALLY dislike all three judges. I wish they'd change the "experts" every season. These three, especially Katherine, are beyond annoying.

When I was in college, I had a friend who was a very talented artist who did a self-portrait in a quarter of the time allotted in this show. She was in the doldrums at the time and not at her best and it was better than anything you typically see on this show. The judges should take a clue that the average person who the portrait will want a fine art portrait or something of a Christian Hook caliber, not something that could get free if they sat for an art school.
