My parents didn’t have much money, I don’t remember being so focused on not having enough. We currently don’t have much money, we work less so we can homeschool our kids and be home with them. We don’t dwell on the fact that we have less than our neighbors who work 24/7 have new cars, a trailer go on vacation a lot. We trust the Lord to provide, we work hard and he has provided!

💜💓💜 You sound like a great parent. We chose to be home more when our children were little. It was worth every dollar we didn't have. Hang in there . . Later, you can work more, as they get older.

Took him 10 years to finish college. Took me 6 and 1/2 years, working, taking a smaller load of classes. Sometimes dropping out for a little while to earn enough money to go back. As the saying goes, where there's a will, there's a way.

I appreciate Allie's dad keeping it real when he talks about work struggles and married life. I've had some of his experiences in both areas. Like he said, a quality spouse makes all the difference. Some spouses become more supportive when career and money challenges arrive, while others attack and deride when times are tough. "The wise woman builds her house, But the foolish tears it down with her own hands." (Proverbs 14:1, NASB'95) "A fool always loses his temper, But a wise man holds it back." (Proverbs 29:11)

This has me crying!! I’m going to share this with my 16 year old son. He just asked me the other day why we don’t have enough money. We have to say no to so many things ( good, God honoring things) because of money. I had to have the hard conversation of how his dad ( my husband) never took providing for his family seriously, even though he’s a hard worker and goes to work every day. I think my son resents it too even though he’s an amazing young man!! Thankfully he’s showing a desire to grow, earn and work hard, in this area. I love your dad! What a blessing to have such an amazing man as a dad!!

Allie, I’ve been watching you since 2019. Pretty sure this is in my top five favorite episodes!! So amazing to hear more about your family and the things that you all have been through. And I’m sure my mom could definitely relate to how your dad felt with your brothers struggles as a kid. At least partially. my disability may not be developmental but, my mom fought like hell throughout my school years so that I could succeed to where I am now hopefully going to graduate with a bachelors degree and enter law school. So many of your childhood stories I can relate to. No pun intended.

I really enjoyed this episode Allie! Please have your dad on more often. I think seeing your respectful relationship helps restore faith in the family, and gives so many a real life example of God's love for his children, as well as showing how we, as his children are to respect and honor Him. #leadingbyexample #discoverpurpose #blessings #loveoneanother

Definitely spot on regarding not always waiting on God to tell you exactly what to do. I've found times in my life when I was doing that and stalling and eventually I felt in my spirit that God was telling me, "I'm not gonna make every decision for you. This is YOUR decision and if you choose option A in faith and you're doing it unto the LORD then I'll bless you. If you choose option B in faith and you do it unto the LORD then I'll bless you." Of course God leads us and guides us and points us in the right direction and there are certainly times that He will put STOP signs in front of you and other times when the Holy Spirit will nudge you toward the right or left but again, God teaches me with the analogy of a good and loving earthly parent. My mother and father taught me what is right and true and they gave me advice and were always there for me but there were times when for my own good, they would allow and tell me that I needed to make my own decision and they would love me through it and be there for me either way.

Hi. Ron Simmons here (hopefully better late than never). Lisa and I have set up a supplemental needs trust for Daniel to hold whatever assets he has including his inheritance as assets in this type trust do not disqualify him from Social Security disability beneftis. However, from a day to day management of his life we have an aid that works several hours a week helping Daniel get to work, shop etc. At the end of the day Allie and her brother, Justin, will have the responsibility of watching over him.

If you are a father, please show your kids love, and raise them up in the Bible. I didn't get that. My father was stern and hyper critical and as Catholics, we NEVER picked up a bible. Only in my 30's did the Holy Spirit get in to my head and turn me toward the Truth. In my 20's I did things I won't mention. I can't slough all of that off on to my upbringing, but to a certain extent, yes. Show your kids love, and study the Bible with them. I feel I was damaged by the lack of those things, and am so grateful that God came and got me!
