Tom this is why you are more important than you think. This is normal behavior for most addicts. But they are so disparaged and so alienated that there are few avenues to express their feelings. Social media cant replace human contact. And legitimate rehabs are not that available. She is wrestling with the idea of rehab. It's called sick and tired of being sick and tired. All addiction and relapse involves HALT: hungry angry lonely tired. That's what she is experiencing. Now is the time for my "special sauce" I used as a rehab facilitator and recovering addict: And Then What?... No matter what they say, you always frame your response with differing versions of" and then what or and then what will you do? Addicts dont play the tape all the way to the end. This forces them to play the tape to the end. Which always is jails institutions and death. Always. It's a powerful technique.
@justakristina49354 жыл бұрын
Special sauce?
@calvinmurry10964 жыл бұрын
@@justakristina4935 as a rehab facilitator you devise personal techniques that encourages those aha moments of enlightenment. My special sauce was actually CBT. Cognitive behavior therapy. You see addicts don't think. They react. They want a hit of drug but they are unaware that they are walking 10 blocks in tattered shoes through a half foot of snow. Since I am an addict I know that the addict has already "ingested" the drug he is walking through snow to obtain. He is already doing the drug in his mind. He has gone from A to Z without any stops in between. But by saying to the addict in rehab: " and then what" he is forced to play the tape all the way to the end. This is when real recovery begins. So my special sauce was CBT. With a little Victor Frankl tossed in. Biochemical reactions within the body doesn't know the difference between a crack rock or a pack of suzy Q's. They are the same in the lady who wolfs down candy bars and the guy who sticks a needle in his arm. If you wish to recover you simply have to think. Before reacting. And thinking requires playing the tape all the way to the end.

I am so happy you are clean and doing well, but I can understand how these kids feel. They are angry, hurt and bitter. They needed their parents and no one can ever go back and give them what they needed and that is a heavy burden that they will have to deal with the rest of their lives. I am not trying to make these parents feel worse but they failed these kids as parents and “giving it to god” doesn’t seem like enough. In fact, it seems like a cop-out. The parents have to own the issue and do the hard work and show real remorse, communicate humility and beg the forgiveness of these broken kids. Probably they also must learn to forgive themselves. Wish you all peace and strength in 2020.

Couldn´t the state just offer rehab BEFORE they get to jails and end up on the streets? Would it not be actually cheaper (=more effective/economical) and safer for everyone around in the end?
