But we *must* know the Word of God. The Bible is not boring! Worshipping and learning at church is not boring. It's also not supposed to be entertainment. I took a friend to my old church I thought was too liturgical and dry. But going back, thinking how many people in the world were singing the same old songs, reciting the Apostle's Creed, and taking communion meant so much! That scene with Little James really resonated with me. In May of 2019, I was diagnosed with throat cancer. I was told it was a mild cancer and had an 85% survivability rate. I was also told that there was a small chance of a relapse. If it did come back, it would be terminal. About q month after I was declared cancer free, test showed it was back. Two oncologist told me I had four months to live with out treatment and nine if I fought back. Jesus had a third option. He had my pastor gather up some men from church and performed an anointing ceremony in my hospital bed. My cancer was healed. Nearly four years later, I am still here and on paper healthier than I was before my illness. There were some consequences though. My throat and jaw muscles were damaged from the radiation treatments. I had to have a trach installed and a feeding tube. I've been on a diet of Ensure and water for nearly four years now. I often wondered why Jesus didn't heal all of me. The scene with Little James answered that question. When someone with my obvious medical issues can go out and witness to the lost, it brings even more glory to God. Sure I miss food sometimes but it never took my joy away or my faith. God is good and has provided everything I need. I am truly blessed. All glory to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The Chosen brought me to God. 8 or so months ago, I was feeling depressed. I was up and down. I was experiencing a lot of anxiety and uncertainty. I am 37 and have never read the Bible. I did not grow up in the church and only knew a little about God from the handful of times I attended Church with my Grandma or friend. I watched episode one and felt like I was being pulled in. After episode 3 or 4, I turned off the TV and went to find the Bible my Grandmother gave me 15 years ago. There was a bookmark that said "1999" to give you context, lol. I read the Book of Matthew. I cried, and I felt a deep sense of joy and peace. I started praying. I started listening to Christian music. Then I finally joined a church, and then a life group. Each step of the way I felt closer and closer to God.... Things started happening that I can't explain... My heart started to feel full... I don't know why... I don't know how... my anxiety went away. And when I do get an attack, I call on Jesus, and I feel peace again. I can stop awful thoughts from consuming me now. I am a sinner. I am not perfect. I am a work in progress. I don't deserve His blessings. But I will never go back... Thank you, God, for never giving up on me! And if you're reading this and have never read the Bible or dropped to your knees to ask for help - I urge you to try it. It's okay if you don't know ANYTHING about God... I thought I did, but I did NOT. It's OK if you join a life group and have never read the Bible - because the people there will be so happy to help you! They will guide you, they will pray for you, they will root for you. I love you. All things are possible with God. May He turn to you, and may you feel His love because when you do.... you'll forever be changed. 🤍🤍🤍🤍

My biggest issue with Dallas is that he seems to be unaware of the major theological differences between Christians and Mormons if he is saying that we believe in the same Jesus. I worry that his lack of understanding of these fundamental issues may affect how biblical his show is Edit: I think Dallas has to understand that while the Mormons believe in the same historical Jesus (so we can agree completely on the ministry and life of the Biblical Christ), they *do not* believe in the same Christ who by nature is the eternal, uncreated Lord God, one with the Father and the Spirit, coeternal and coexistent. This is of eternal significance because Jesus said “unless you believe that I AM you will die in your sins” (John 8:24). You *cannot* get the deity of Christ wrong. He is not a spirit offspring of Heavenly Father and mother who became a god-He is the one and only God who is without a beginning or end of days! @cindybin2001 You seem lively enough to humor me with a question Ive had for a while about the LDS…what’s your answer to the fact that the worlds leading theologians and Bible teachers affirm that what Mormons believe is not the Gospel of Christ and is false teaching/heretical? Im asking seriously, not to attack your beliefs or anything, but Ive wondered to myself over the years, “what would it take for me to accept that what I have put all my faith in was false?” The answer I’ve come up with is that experts on that faith (Christianity) would be able to convince me if I were in wrong understanding. So I guess, if I were LDS, and every Bible Scholar on the outside of that religion/denomination agreed that it was false teaching (or any other faith practice, not exclusive to LDS) I’d like to think I’d be able to believe them. Now here’s where I attempt to show you the Truth…I have had several studies and many talks with members of the LDS (one of my best friends is LDS), and I’ve come to understand that the teachings are not Biblical. I can understand accepting the idea that further revelation was given, but I can’t accept that a new revelation would ever contradict or change God’s historical Word/the Holy Bible, which the BoM does. Are these things you’ve given thought to or concerned about? Or, maybe you have an answer for? Again, serious questions Ive had in my own contemplation, and not an “attack” on you or your beliefs. So, if you’re willing to or can answer, thank you. If not, thank you anyways ;)

I agree! What is missing to me is his Magesty! The old film Jesus of Nazareth, in my opinion, presented Jesus with respect, honor, and dignity. The Chosen is a completely different presentation. It is another artist rendition of Christ. At the end of the day, the producers will be held accountable as we all are for what we do with the good news of Jesus Christ. I believe Dallas and the other creative writers have simply taken a more down to earth approach to make relatable the "possibilities " of what it may have been like to live with Him and serve others. In the beginning, Dallas made it very clear it was a use of creative license along with scripture. I do not like the series, but I know it has encouraged many to seek Jesus Christ in the Scriptures The Bible, not the Book of Mormon, or other books out there. 🙂 Having said all this, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has produced, in my opinion, a very accurate film on "The Life of Jesus Christ," according to the book of Luke. KJV Bible. It is done very beautifully. Though they also use artistic license in this film in a couple of places, for the most part, it is verbatim of the Gospel written in KJV. You can check it out on KZbin, under channel called wildwood. 😀

Then in verse 10 ( there is only one chapter in 2 John), it says not to receive them into your house ( and I would think that could also mean to not let them into your life either- as well as not let their doctrine, literature or teachings in). The Bible CLEARLY states not to add or take away. “Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.” (Deut. 4:2.) This show is warm and fuzzy, heartwarming and everything that makes people feel good. Which is why it's so dangerous. I watched the first episode of season 3, and I was so disappointed. Most of the whole episode is complete make believe. And because it makes people feel good, they want to believe what they are watching. And can you ask Dallas why he uses satan as a advertisement?

Thank you for giving this brother a chance to answer directly many of the rumors and even slanderous things being said regarding his personal character and his project. I see the perspective of “artistic liscense” and his not wanting to be called Christian programming to be his way of delineating between factual content and that which takes artistic liscense with scripture as its main reference point. I worked in film for over a decade, and so happy to see the point brought out ( that many criticize ) that those involved in the cast, crew, locations & sets that were rented ( mormon owned ) somehow discredited the whole show and content! This is absurd! Allie herself even admitted involvement with non Christians and that in no way shapes her content /as long as / they keep a backbone and fear God over man! As long as Allie, Dallas, and any others are in total control of writing the content being made...and Dallas directing that content through talented but unbelieving actors...this show may not only be used by God to draw viewers to Himself, but those working on the show also! With all due respect you do realize their are two executive producers that are LDS and a Chosen advisory spiritual advisory board made up of LDS and Roman Catholics. These are facts you can look up yourself. And to think this is just some “show” like the Simpsons or Family Guy and should be treated similarly in terms of “creative license” is preposterous. I’m sorry my friend, but if anyone wants to present Jesus to the world, you better darn well be presenting the correct one, God is a jealous God. Why else would you do it in the first place? We’re warned not to go beyond what is written for a reason (1 Cor 4:6) specifically in the context of not leading people astray to follow after others. The definitive proof of what is happening with Dallas is he has partnered on a very spiritual and Biblical matter with people with a different Jesus and a different gospel. Dallas is deceived and sincerely deceived at that, he needs prayer to get out of this mess and stop deceiving others. I care enough about you to stop and tell you the truth, God bless.

I watched the first 2 seasons and loved it. I then caught an interview with Jonathan and at the end he led people in praying the rosary and still another time he was on a commercial advertising that he would be praying and for anyone who wanted to, to join him. Because he is Catholic, it will be easy for him to influence people in joining his church. Fans really do love him...some have taken it to idolatry. The Catholic church is a works-based religion and do practice idolatry. Praying to anyone other than the Father is sin. I can no longer watch the show. As a long time listener, thank you for your pursuit of truth. As Christians, we must stand shoulder to shoulder as brothers and sisters in the faith… in this battle, we cannot afford to take time splitting hairs over exact points of deep theology. As a Christian, and a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ , moving forward, our conversations need to be focused on the common ground we share, acknowledging Christ as the Savior of all, and the being we both strive, albeit imperfectly, to become more like in this life…the one from whom we both seek redemption, hope, mercy, and strength.

Latter-day Saints are not Christian. Joseph Smith was very anti Christian. According to Joseph Smith, Christians are deceived by Satan, have the spirit of the devil in them and are anti Christ. "All the creeds of Christianity are an abomination." John Taylor said that Christianity was a perfect pack of nonsense. Christians don't believe the first lie of Satan - "Ye shall be as gods." They also do not deny their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and say he is a created being the brother of Satan. If you read your Bible, you would know that you aren't a Christian.

@pixie8653 Жыл бұрын
And that is the problem. We are to have unity in truth. The Mormon Jesus is definitely not the Jesus of the Bible. I am guessing that you, like Mr. Jenkins, don't know that. Mormon Jesus: created being; spirit brother of Satan; polygamist... Mormon Jesus' father: also a created being, who has sex with his own wife--creating spirit children, i.e., Jesus, Satan, us... How did Mormon Jesus get here? God came down from his heaven and impregnated Mary... Don't believe me? Look it up. Also, having lived and worked with Mormons (great neighbors & co-workers, but horribly lost), I can tell you that they do not believe in salvation through faith. They have salvation through works. And, they they get baptized for dead people. They keep detailed genealogy records so that they can get baptized for those who have died--which somehow helps get them to at least some level of heaven, even after death... One of their favorite sayings is this: "As man now is, God once was: As God now is, man may be.” Mormons--lovely, wonderful people. Lost and on their way to a Christ-less eternity. And while I believe that many Catholics are saved--despite belonging to a church that has theology that contradicts the Bible (and they just don't know it, because most Catholics never actually read the church's doctrinal beliefs)--but the Catholic Jesus is also not the Jesus of the Bible. The Chosen promotes meditation and prayer with Roumie, who advocates addressing prayers to a dead man--Padre Pio. I will just stop there.

I have been in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for over 60 years. I am an ordained bishop in the Church. I have studied the doctrine very closely. I have never, ever perceived that the Church is "works-based" as you have stated. That is not what we believe or what we teach. We have only ever believed, and only ever taught, that it is by grace that we are saved. That IS the doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Yes, God expects us to live according to His law, and He expects us to have our faith accompanied by our works, but it is by His grace that any of us are saved. I'm not sure how you were led awry on this, but please know that the formal doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is that we are saved by grace, that being the Grace of Christ. Also, for clarity, we DO believe fully that Jesus was and is God just exactly as it reads in John 1. How you think we do not believe in John 1 is a mystery to me. Please make sure you have the correct doctrine if you are going to tell people what you think we believe. We may actually have more commonality than you realize. God bless you and may the Grace of Christ fill your heart with charity for ALL of God's children. Luke 9:49 And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us. Luke 9:50 And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us. You can know for yourself what the Church of Jesus Christ believes by going here. www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2023/10/51nelson?lang=eng

@novotraxsmartcity622 What do you think of the information below? This is not compatible with orthodox Christianity...not one bit....and it is indeed works based. Your definition of "grace" is not grace at all. LDS use the same terms but have a completely different dictionary. Do not be deceived Christian reading this. And to you novo, your sin against the One True God is not testing Joseph Smith and LDS doctrine with what we both agree is God's first revelation - the Bible. Brigham Young (Mormonism's 2nd president-prophet): “He is our Father-the Father of our spirits, and was once a man in mortal flesh as we are, and is now an exalted Being.” [Journal of Discourses vol. 7:333] Joseph Smith (Mormonism's founding president-prophet): “it is necessary that we should understand the character and being of God, and how he came to be so; for I am going to tell you how God came to be God. We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity, I will refute that idea, and will take away and do away the veil, so that you may see. … he was once a man like us; yea, that God himself, the Father of us all, dwelt on an earth, the same as Jesus Christ himself did” [History of the Church, Vol. 6:305-306.] (From the famous King Follett Sermon) “When we lived with our Heavenly Father, He explained a plan for our progression. We could become like Him, an exalted being… Joseph Smith taught: ‘[God] was once a man like us… God himself, the Father of us all, dwelt on an earth, the same as Jesus Christ did’” [Gospel Principles (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2009), 275, 279.] [(cf. Teachings of Joseph Smith, 345.][Also History of the Church, Vol 6, 306.][Also King Follett Sermon, Ensign, April 1971] Milton R. Hunter: “Mormon prophets have continuously taught the sublime truth that God the Eternal Father was once a mortal man who passed through a school of earth life similar to that through which we are now passing. He became God-an exalted being. … He grew in experience and continued to grow until He attained the status of Godhood. In other words, He became a God by absolute obedience…” [The Gospel Throughout The Ages, 104, 114-15.]

The brother of Satan can not be God. The first spirit to be born in heaven was Jesus, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 129). Jesus and Satan are spirit brothers and we were all born as siblings in heaven to them both, (Journal of Discourses, vol. 6, p. 8; Gospel Through the Ages, p. 15). *** No one is born a child of God. It is something you become. John 1:12 Ephesians 2 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. The Bible is clear that all people are God’s creation (Colossians 1:16), and that God loves the entire world (John 3:16), but only those who are born again are children of God (John 1:12; 11:52; Romans 8:16; 1 John 3:1-10). Romans 9:8 says that “it is not the natural children who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring.” Instead of being born as God’s children, we are born in sin, which separates us from God and aligns us with Satan as God’s enemy (James 4:4; 1 John 3:8). Jesus said, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me” (John 8:42). Then a few verses later in John 8:44, Jesus told the Pharisees that they “belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire.” 1 John 3:10: “This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother.” We become God’s children when we are saved because we are adopted into God’s family through our relationship with Jesus Christ. (Galatians 4:5-6; Ephesians 1:5).

The LDS church does not teach grace alone. We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel. - Article of Faith #3 Book of Mormon For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do. - 2 Nephi 25:23 "One of the most fallacious doctrines originated by Satan and propounded by man is that man is saved alone by the grace of God; that belief in Jesus Christ alone is all that is needed for salvation," (Miracle of Forgiveness, Spencer W. Kimball, p. 206). The Bible Eph. 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. *********** Jesus' sacrifice was not able to cleanse us from all our sins, (murder and repeated adultery are exceptions), (Journal of Discourses, vol. 3, 1856, p. 247). I John 1:7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. ********** Good works are necessary for salvation. (Articles of Faith, by James Talmage, p. 92). The Bible Romans 3:28 For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law. Titus 3:5 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, *********** There is no salvation without accepting Joseph Smith as a prophet of God. (Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 1, p. 188). The Bible Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me." - John 14:6 *********** "This grace is an enabling power that allows men and women to lay hold on eternal life and exaltation after they have expended their own best efforts," (LDS Bible Dictionary, p. 697). The Bible Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. *********** There is no salvation outside The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" (Mormon Doctrine, p.670). The Bible And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name (Jesus) under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved. - Acts 4:12

Another struggle I had is with those intimate scenes between Simon and his wife, No matter how important it is to show how holy sex is, we should not push these real people (actors) to do those intimate scenes. Afterall, they are real people and real scenes. The enemy is always tricking us. Would anyone of you allow your wife, sister, mother and daughter to do these acts just to show the sanctity of marriage? I won't. I have stopped watching "The Chosen". Please think about it. Edit:- No comparison to Songs of Solomon, because that's a written narrative. But, these scenes are done by real people, not even married, it is physical, open your eyes. I won't say much, it's up to y'all. I felt wrong inside, I've repented, I'll simply enjoy my "Bible", still awesome. Be blessed, Brethren 🤍

This. This is speaking truth. The Holy Spirit in me made me feel so uncomfortable with this. It wasn't necessary in the show at all and made me realize how little of the goal of this show is to glorify or honor God. We shouldn't be surprised. "If the world hates you remember it hated me first." The sweeping popularity of the show is directly in opposition of the Bible stating over and over how the way is narrow, and few will find it. This man openly admits to just wanting to tell an entertaining story. He glorifies himself. Supporters of this show are deceived. But God can use even vain things for His good. So we pray for them and pray our Lord Jesus, the REAL Lord Jesus, not Dallas' fake but charming Jesus, comes soon. Maranatha.

It’s been so long I forgot all about that one. I remember thinking the exact same thing. It was very inappropriate to put the actors through that. And you’re completely correct to clarify about SOS.

My then girlfriend now wife and I both looked at each other at that part and knew it was time to turn it off. The alarm bells were ringing. There were other little scenes where we just looked at each other too. Peter repeatedly mocking John the Baptist as "creepy John", Matthew telling a clueless Jesus what to say for the sermon the mount. I can't believe how many self professing "Christians" are ok with these things. You are totally correct. A show made by genuine believers seeking to honor and glorify God would not include such things. But it is clear this show is a man centered attempt at manipulating people emotionally, nothing more.

Sharing appreciation for The Chosen (not scripture, but an uplifting show) is great way for Christians of all sects to focus on what they have in common instead of their theological differences. Catholics vs Protestants, Evangelicals vs more authoritarian churches, Trinitarians vs Mormons. What we all share is a love for Jesus and his Grace, his Atonement. And that includes the Mormons. To exclude them would be Pharisaical. There are many mysteries about God. We are in sin if we think we know everything and thus judge others who are trying to follow Jesus.

Thank you! I saw a few KZbin channels against the chosen but they played clips w/o context. I was drawn to yours because it was a full interview. I believe he was sharing his heart. I'm glad he has moron friends and I hope he's able to witness and influence them and their beliefs on the subject of Jesus.

Unless he pulls some crap last season I don't think any tricks are coming. He's kept it very far from any denominational or doctrinal bias that I could perceive. It's way better than anything else on television.

His LDS friends do not love the same Jesus of the bible - if they did, they would not be LDS. He sounds like a universalist to me. There are no exceptions, as he’s trying to say in this interview, that are in the Mormon church, and are followers of the real Christ - otherwise they’d leave the cult.
@SincerelyHannah92 жыл бұрын
I agree. The lds church has the same historical Jesus but not the same theological Jesus-which is how Micah Wilder (a former mormon) has explained it an interview with Melissa Dougherty. But to get the deity of Christ wrong is to imperil your soul😣
@montegtaylor2 жыл бұрын
Did you listen to the interview? He said his friends are not hardcore LDS. I understand the LDS - can you give an example of an LDS Jesus in the Chosen vs the KJV Bible Jesus? How have they influenced it? Thanks.

I'd like to say that Mormons have a rough time of it when they leave. They lose everything...including their families. It's very difficult. No. I'm not one, but I've known people that were in that situation.

You are in error. 3 “To the angel[a] of the church in Sardis write: These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits[b] of God and the seven stars. I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead. 2 Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God. 3 Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you. 4 Yet you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes. They will walk with me, dressed in white, for they are worthy. 5 The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life, but will acknowledge that name before my Father and his angels. 6 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. ------- Even in a church that is "Dead" there are still the possibilities of people who are still among them for some reason who have not agreed with the teachings. Does Jesus say "If they actually love me they will leave?" ---- No he does not. Stop assuming things.
@valeriehancock17242 жыл бұрын
@@gracekelehar4014 yes, that’s understandable. I’m sure it is not easy, but overtime they are drawn out of it. If they are convicted by the Holy Spirit and saved, they will not stay in the Mormon church, just like others saved out of Catholicism or hyper charismatic churches.

One of my favorite "Christian" movies is "The Resurrection of Gavin Stone" and I was one that bought a ticket. That it wasn't a huge success is as much an act of God as "The Chosen" being a hit, as both are equal in production quality and content. Thank you for this interview. I wasn't sure what to make of some of the "bad" Christian press surrounding "The Chosen" but have much more clarity now, especially given the heart of Mr. Jenkins so transparently and beautifully revealed here. Very moving.

Anytime anyone says you might be painting with a broad brush you need to be careful of what they are actually saying. The Bible has no broad brush when it comes to salvation and our Savior Jesus Christ. I love how Allie corrects him instantly when he’s crossing a line she’s not willing to go. Especially the part where he wants to make the position that mankind is behind the miracle yet she cuts him off real quick to say but God didn’t need anyone for His plan to work out. That’s where he almost stepped into Word of Faith teaching that God is limited to work without man giving permissible access to earthly things.

@@pettifoggingpharisee considering how many interviews I’ve seen of Dallas unchecked, Allie did better keeping him in answering harder truths.
