My father and his family hailed from Alligator, Mississippi.. My great-grandfather's church he pastored was not far from the old train station.. The area with the City Hall and grocery store was called 'Uptown' because it was away from the residential area.. There's another sign high up on two poles with 1 light over it announcing ALLIGATOR along hwy 61 when you arrive driving down from Clarksdale...

We lived there back in the early 60’,dad passed away and we moved back to Chicago in1970 after our father’s death we lived as your coming into town turning left and follow that road you can see to the left after that slight curve keep going straight the first little road to the left about half a block down to the left was our little pig farm and huge vegetable garden right behind the cotton gin, as you go back into town that corner that little corner ,it was Robert & Ronny Favas store the next store to the right of that was Mr.Kaplans clothing store then the one next to that was the towns Post office our box was # 133!awseome beautiful town we went to Duncan Elementary,in the next little town of Duncan & and highs hoop in the following little town of Shelby!

Alligator Ms , money Ms are areas in the Ms delta. Nice towns. Georgia Alabama Lousanna Tx Carolinas Virginia go see all those great Southern towns in those states as well. Arkansas Tennesee. Down home folks. Check out the old general stores, the Annabella homes, go to Jones Bbq in Marriana Arkansas. You be surprised.

If they think That town is small go to W Va & check out the hollers in southern W va & East Ky. Way up in the Appalachian mountains.?those tiny community’s in the coal camps.

Shubuta has a higher population but looks the same. All boarded up or fallen in business on a single row. When the lumber quit mass production up there the town dried up

Now it’s full of crime, unemployed and drugs. Most people that have homes are the elderly that was there during its heyday
