About All In The Family:
One of the most acclaimed comedy series of all time, All in the Family with Archie Bunker as the irascible, highly opinionated, working-class family man who viewed the world on his terms and his terms only. When not arguing with his liberal son-in-law, "Meathead," Archie took refuge in his long-suffering wife, Edith, who tries her best to understand Archie's conservative ways and outdated beliefs.

Mike and Gloria were never right for each other. Gloria was still Archie's daughter, and while she was not conservative like him, she allowed Mike to inculcate her with all those left wing views with which she never really felt comfortable. In the end, they cheated on each other, Mike for good by running off to a commune with one of his students. The man simply hated work and responsibility, and he probably lazed off at the commune while letting all the others do the chores.

So you basically hit below the belt Mr stivic if it was not for her parents money you would not have graduated dearie. sad she cheated is not the way but to all find out in the end you basically used her, used her parents your marriage and then leave do not blame Gloria for taking yall son and leaving Edith help bought you some time to get it together but we all know how that went. Without All in the Family, there might not have been a Married with Children. Prior to this, you had Ozzie and Harriet, Father Knows Best, Leave it to Beaver, Bewitched . . . innocuous programs that did not acknowledge what was happening in the world outside the film studio. Producer Norman Lear grabbed the audience by the lapels and loaded up the episodes with current events: Watergate, Gay Rights, Women’s Liberation, the Sexual Revolution, Racism, the Vietnam War (US involvement continued until 1975) . . . Plus, adding sound effects like a toilet flushing - it had never been done. If the humour falls flat for you, well, it falls flat. But the outrageous humour on TV began with these four characters.
