boy you and Bob don't mess around! Glad you found another toy that you can rebuild into another good workhorse. The more and more complicated the new stuff gets, the more and more I like still working and keeping my old crap running. Have a good one Tim

Thankyou Nelson!! To me this was a simple project lol we've done so many we barely even keep the bolts separate anymore 😆. And not having to basically engineer the thing like we did with big Mike and Franky really makes it seem like a short project 🤦♂️. Everything bolts back together..... I almost forgot what that was life for a while 😆 thankyou for always being here my friend and the kind words!!

Overhauls take a lot of work, but it's nice knowing how many "new" hours the engine has again.

It sure is. I like buying tractors like this, it's nice to get one that just runs but knowing the engine is good for many hours is up there.

The rear cam bearing in my 301 was the same way. No hole in the block
@TimothyFluegel2 жыл бұрын
Isn't that weird. Every other engine I've done has had the hole there 🤷♂️, it was the best looking bearing in the whole cam is the strangest thing.

So if you engage the PTO constantly, except for connecting and disconnecting the PTO equipment shafts, all will be good.
@joemorse2572 жыл бұрын
Thres a disconnect lever to shift it in or out with the engine off, then you can leave the main lever engaged when you're not using the pto
@TimothyFluegel2 жыл бұрын
Yes then of you have the update on the front you don't need to worry about your thrust bearing. Yes an extra lever next to the seat that is an update as well for turning the pro on and off the only time you disengage the factory pro lever is to tune the other lever on and off.

They make a special tool to adjust the clutch if it doesn't seem right. You'll need to borrow it from an AC dealer
@TimothyFluegel2 жыл бұрын
Ya I found that when I was reading how to adjust it in the book, I thought o great, 😆, but I just measured like I do with any other clutch and it feels great 🤷♂️. I figured I won't mess with it, if I lose a throw out bearing I guess I know why though huh lol
@petepeeff58072 жыл бұрын
Basically a 980 fiat with an Allis engine. The Fiats have a PTO disconnect like a Ford or Ferguson. In operation you disengage the PTO there and then release clutch bearing pressure when not using PTO. Or just let shaft spin. A lot of people couldn't get the hang of this and burned up throw out bearings. The Fiat made Olivers were this way and got a bad rap. Also early 50 HP Kubotas and others. Works ok just engage PTO when not using PTO. Counterintuitive I know.
@TimothyFluegel2 жыл бұрын
😆 it is definitely counter intuitive. After having it all apart and seeing how it all works, it's easy to remember for me I guess. This one has the pto cut off on it as well, just like you explained with the fiats.. and its not adjusted correctly. The last owners must have adjusted it out and turned the tractor off to engage the pto.... would explain why the starter and flywheel were trashed 🤦♂️ so when I get time I get to split it again. I forgot to flip the ring gear as well so, it is what it is 🤷♂️. Thanks for watching pete!

I just noticed the tractor has fiat wheels just like the Fiat 880 DT, It's 5 cylinder counter part and the Fiat 980 DT tractor 😂

@TimothyFluegel2 жыл бұрын
1000 to 1500 in labor, you'd have around 2500 to 3000 into the overhaul, considering it's straight forward and nothing needs to be machined.

I have A 6080 with A 301 and much better working engineThe 4 cylinders always blow up
@TimothyFluegel Жыл бұрын
You must really push them the 433 is an amazingly reliable engine. It's a 301 with 2 less cylinders and a balanced crank with a weight balancer. More reliable than the 6 cylinder if they are used correctly, just because we can weight it down and pull at 20 foot disc with it does not mean that we should 😆 now I bet that 301 would handle it awesome in that little chassis until the rear end gives up lol. But I can't lie I was contemplating hard on putting a301 in this one. Just decided it would have higher resale value this way of I decide to sell it.
