improving the very last creek crossing to our camp on the Mountain Block. The Allis runs out of fuel and gets parked up for a bit.

Amazing what you can get done with that old machine. It’s good you feel well enough to get out and fix up this crossing. Of course we know heavy rains are going to wash that crossing out again and again. It’s good too your wife is able to do the video and narrative. And ding it very well.👍👍

If you have land your always got something to fix up or do something on and I guess my creek crossings are one of those things. Gives the Allis something to do and opportunity to take video. So win win 🤔😂😂

@@mountainblokemoments yes sir, I’ve got about 2 miles of old old fencing of cedar posts that have seen better days. Way too expensive to have a new one put in so I just keep fixing it with mesquite posts cut here. The neighbors bull doesn’t help either. Like a 2000 pound Angus monster. When he get “ lonely “ that fence is nothing. 👍👍

@@timbow50 yes I’ve owned an Angus bull myself, thankfully all our neighbours are commercial stock breeders as well as they got quite a few “free” services from our bull. I got rid of him when we bought the mountain block as he wasn’t suited to it and I couldn’t give him the supervision he required.

I might end up putting a causeway in that crossing. As a lot of water comes down out of the mountains, carrying a lot of debris that would take out any bridge that I could build.

Friend of mine had 3 all is Chalmers scrapers that had been thru a lot. When he got them the oil looked very beat. They changed oil and one by one blew them up on the first job. He paid about scrap price for them and they finished the job so he was happy. I was disappointed. That they got ruined. They were very cool.
@mountainblokemoments
@mountainblokemoments Жыл бұрын
So many good old machines get turned into scrap 🤷 I guess that’s just the way it is people can’t justify spending the money on them to keep them going or get repairs done. I’ve got an inter tractor that I’m not sure what to do with. I can’t justify spending money on it at the moment🤷🤷
@johndoe43
@johndoe43 Жыл бұрын
@@mountainblokemoments that guy with the scrapers started on one engine but stopped. He said he couldn't get the parts. When he changed oil I recommended runing them for a while with no load and then changing oil again but they didn't do that. I can't be sure that would have helped but the oil that came in them was unbelievable. That they ran and got the entire job done also unbelievable but their demise got me. The engines were their only failure. Every thing else functioned very well.
@johndoe43
@johndoe43 Жыл бұрын
@@mountainblokemoments also on your inter tractor try to lube down the cylinders and whatever you can so you can work on it later. And on parts don't give up too early. I think the scraper guy may have done that. I mess with old jeeps and have found a guy that makes trans and transfer case parts that are extinct. And his parts are as good or better than factory. He is a genius. Finding him was the hard part.

Hey boss, have you got the service manual for this old sob? Just thought i'd comment that the finals on these get a bit of slack in them, and to tighten them up you pull the outer cover and remove some shims or something similar its been a while. You probably already know but if not might be wise to check them out, its free to tighten them up to spec and very much not free when a final shits itself 😆
@Mekzuc91
@Mekzuc91 Жыл бұрын
Thats why these tractors have a bad rep for finals, some people never adjust them and they fail. If you adjust them periodically they last just as long as a caterpillars.
