Arguably, the most talented rock band that ever existed. That's a high bar, but the Allman Brothers are in the conversation.

"(T)he most talented rock band that ever existed" would certainly be a vigorous discussion 😉. The Allman Brothers Band would, as you rightly say, be in that conversation. Personally I would have to say it would be the Allman Brothers with Duane to truly apply. And full disclosure 🤣💯🤣 I would have to lobby for Rush in that discussion, they'd be right up there, too.

You could play any song from the At Fillmore East album. It's arguably the greatest live concert recording ever.

Their live shows were legendary, as they often played for hours, occasionally well past midnight. A total jam session. Still one of the very best live albums to this day. It was this exact period we in New Orleans started referring to the Allman Brothers as “The House Band” for a venue called “The Wharehouse,” because they frequented the place so often. Nice choice guys, back like I never left! 👈😎

Yeah, I remember because I was there at The Warehouse, too. Down on Tchoupitoulas, talkin' and signifyin' and groovin", man, I loved it. I saw the the last show there (Talking Heads) in the early 80's, although I didn't know it was the last show at the time. I think it opened in 1970, if I'm remembering that correctly. Different times for sure in the 70's.

@@biff9999 Your right about all of it. In 1970 they had also secured two contracts to perform, with Jimi Hendrix. His passing in 70, of course meant New Orleans never got the opportunity other cities did. The connection to a Chicago promoter was instrumental in steering groups playing Chicago to come play in the Big Easy. We got to see a ton of great bands up close and cheap. Saw Jim Morrison and the Doors do their last show there before his passing, Bob Marley to name a couple. Good times for sure.

"Trouble No More" is an upbeat blues song first recorded by Muddy Waters in 1955. It is a variation on "Someday Baby Blues", recorded by Sleepy John Estes in 1935. The Allman Brothers Band recorded both studio and live versions of the song in the late 1960s and 1970s.
@JimiBurleigh

This is the live version from their album "At Filmore East" that came out in 1971, literally just a few months before Duane Allman was killed in a motorcycle accident. They had originally recorded it for their debut album, released in 1969. The song was written by Muddy Waters, if you want to check out his version. Or the Allman Brothers Band studio version. Spoiler alert 😉 the live version is better. That stunning slide guitar is the late Duane Allman. Personally I would argue that the "lightning in a bottle", as BJ so aptly phrased it, applies to the entire "At Fillmore East" record. It ranks highly amongst the greatest live albums ever made in my opinion. To wit, I would strongly suggest you listen to "Whipping Post" also from the album "At Fillmore East". You really should take the time to listen to the entire album as it was released, you'll not regret the time spent.🤘✌️ Tioraidh an-drasta 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Trouble No More was written by Muddy Waters. He was one of the famous Mississippi delta blues artist. The Allman Brothers covered a bunch of song by blues artist of the 30s, 40s and 50s. Like Elmore James, Muddy Waters, T Bone Walker and Sonny Boy Williamson just to name a few.

I am too young to have seen the original lineup of this band. I was 13 whe n Duane passed and Berry was gone a year later. I did catch them live plenty of times and was fortunate to see one of their last shows at the Beacon Theater with originals Gregg Allman, Butch Trucks and Jaimoe along with Warren Haynes, Oteil Burbridge and Derek Trucks. They were fabulous!

It doesn't get any better than this! This band is in a class all by itself. The concert this song is taken from is regarded by most as one of the best live performances in music. The concerts span sold out consecutive days at the Fillmore East. Blues, rock, country, jazz, you name it. OG

BJ and Asia, so glad you reacted again to the Allman Brothers. I agree with the others that have commented. I think you will enjoy the instrumental In Memory of Elizabeth Reed. But you need to react to the live version from the Fillmore East album. Duane Allman’s guitar solo in this song is arguably the greatest of all time. He sheds!

Fun fact: That photo wasn’t even taken at Fillmore. They had to stage it, after the fact. Another fun fact: There was some frustration and tension, at the shoot. Some were not cooperating, and they were struggling to keep the shoot together. At just about the breaking point, Duane spots a person , he knows to be a dealer of certain contraband. He jumps up, runs out of shoot, makes a score, and comes back to his spot. Look closely, at his cupped and hidden hands. Look at all of the others, looking at him, and laughing at what he just did. Camera goes “click”

Wrong Album Cover. Should be the Eat a Peach Cover. Several Blues musicians have interpreted and recorded variations on "Some Baby Blues. Muddy Waters calls his 'Trouble No More' and Big Maceo titled his 'Worried Life Blues'. Be that as it may they all derive from Sleepy John Estes' 1935 classic 'Someday Baby Blues'."

You know it's amazing about these guys you know they had that little something extra that's really something you can't put your finger on but it's you know they're doing this really great blues music but it has this other thing I don't know what it is man and my dear girl but it is just that little extra something they're mixing a little Latin and a little Jazz and a little some other new thing that they came up with they're just their own original something or other I love hearing those drums so you got I think it's I can't remember Butch trucks and then you got Jamie on that brother is playing his butt off and you can hear Duane Allman he's the fella playing the slide guitar you know it's so cool is his slide that he uses is actually you know it's a glass slide but see back in the day they had this medicine called Coricidin I think they still make it now but now it comes in a plastic bottle but back in the day it came in a glass bottle and it was just perfect you could put that bottle on your finger and now you've got the perfect slide and it really plays excellent but you can't get them anymore except for the fact that some company figured it out and they started making replicas of those Coricidin bottles so that musicians can use that okay you crazy kids
