I wonder how the on stage mix was like, seems like a tough gig 😅

Interestingly, none of the bootlegs have the same sound or the incredible precision of the AFE album. I know it is possible to do some incredible things with production, but to that degree?

I've read that the late Juicy always had heroin, and that's one reason they liked having him around. I agree completely, he does not sound good with the ABB at all. But they continued to have him set in over the ensuing months. In fact, he played at Duane's final ABB concert, as heard on the CD The Final Note.

I think Willie Perkins said that in Alan Paul’s book one way out. Juicy was also a good friend of jaimoe’s from his time touring on the R&B circuit. And you’re right, they never gave up on the experiment. Had Duane only hired King Curtis and the kingpins!

Juicy was awful. Ruined some songs. And then they proceeded to release Down in Texas with him AGAIN! With terrible sound quality. Shouldn't have been released

The less Juicy that sees the light of day, the better. To my ear, he just has no feel for the band’s music.
