Southern Rock is as amazing now as it was then. Born in 74 to hippies who all played bass in bands. These are my roots. First concert was Greg Allman in the 80’s, my uncles opened for him so they got me bars . I wept when he passed. I’ve raised my children on this sound, and now a 6 m/o grandson will know his roots. Skynyard, Allman Bothers, Eagles, Marshall Tucker, etc. Few musicians now can hold a candle to these true musicians. Shout out to the Swampers! ❤️

When I was a little girl, maybe 3 years old all the way up till my daddy passed in 2010 when I was 22, the one and only song I would ever request from him, my most favorite song he would sing and play his guitar to, was this one. He would ask me which song I wanted him to play, but he always knew my answer was going to be this one. What would drive a 3 year old to want to hear this song? ... Idk either, but this song was, and will always and forever be, my most absolute favorite. I'll see you again one day. I love you daddy.

makes me think of my Daddy. he passed away several yrs ago. It was an honor to know my Dad and be a part of the Ole Mans life and it was a true honor to be a part of his passing. He was a legend. No body messed with the ole Man. All though he would give the shirt off his back and buy tools he did not even need just in case one of the neighbors needed to borrow anything. Just like helping people. A True Harley Rider at its Best. I loved going up to get his trophies when he showed his bikes. He was a classic just like this song! They called him The Ole Man out of respect however his nick name was Big Moe. He had a heart of Gold and in the end days, we made a pack. He said KC when it gets back you gotta let me go. I said Daddy, ill take to as far as I can to the Heavens and ill let you go into Jesus's Arms. He said he heard the thunder and Chuck was leading the pack. My Brother, and he was ready. He passed like a Man of Honor and a Man of God. I love you Daddy!

Something about this song combines happiness and sadness that makes it Just Right. Joy and mourning and a yearning quality. A little insight, but not too much; not beating it to death. My mom was named after this song. Her dad had bad ptsd & was abusive after being in Vietnam. But listening to this makes me feel like he had a heart in there somewhere. My mom waited until I was about 22 to become a full blown addict. I'm 27 and I haven't spoke to her in years. Even though we live in the same neighborhood and I see her out sometimes. I know avoiding her is best bc she isn't her anymore. But...when I get to missing her. I put on this song & cry a little. Man...she was named after a song that once fit her well

How lucky can I get? While in college,30+ years ago; my boyfriend had tickets for two back to back concerts. The first night we saw The Moody Blues. Fantastic show. The following night we saw The Allman Brothers. Wow! We had good seats. They were smoking that evening! They played for almost three hours,with two encores! Without a doubt- The best concert I have Ever Seen. I remember it,like it was yesterday. RIP- Gregg,Duane,and Butch.You were The Best.. add to that Barry.

Well all I can say is that my wife and I saw the Allman Brothers several times and I went with my sons to see the Gregg Allman band a couple of times and the one thing that stood out was these were musicians and not just people hoping to be rock stars. Pure quality first time and every time.

This song brings back so many memories. I was born in 1973 and had an Uncle who was just 13 years older than I (may he rest in peace). We spent a lot of my childhood together until he shipped off to the United States Air force in the 1980's. We always remained close and always kept in contact even through the distance between us. He was my best friend and a huge influence on my life, my musical taste and my love of music. This was a favorite song of his and we used to listen to it in his Volkswagen bug while cruising through our little town. When I got pregnant with my daughter I had a heck of a time deciding on a name for her. Knowing this, he called on the phone one day and reminded me of this song and the good times we had while listening to it. Needless to say my 20 year old daughters name is Malissa (spelling variation on my part) LOL. I sure do miss him a lot!

What is it about this song....timeless. I have a Sunday afternoon playlist when I'm just watching the sun, drinking coffee, and just sitting in a park watching others. This is one of those songs that just hits it....Not sure what "IT" is but it's a song I could listen to again and again.

I love Melissa. This is the name of my sister. We listened to this song together as children; I was jealous. How wrong I was, to be jealous. Had I any idea we would lose her so young, I would never have been so petty. I love you baby girl you will always, always be in my heart. My dear heart. I love you so much baby sister. Too soon, too soon.
@nicnicollet4497 жыл бұрын
The Allman Brothers are the last people I know to speak her name. My family hasn't been able to talk to her. That's why I moved far away from them. I figured, if they were ignoring that she died, than they were also ignoring me. It's easier to be ignored when you live far away. You can chalk no one caring to, "oh, well I live too far away ." so. It still hurts.
@carriestetler59337 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry. What you're saying here is so sad. Mourn and love your sister even when others can't. Maybe some day your family will be able to do the same or help you understand why it was so difficult for them. But no one can erase your love for your sister and your memories. Peace to you.

As you can see, I've heard this song many many times. I was born the year Duane passed. I was named after my Grandma, who lived in Chocran GA..bout 40 miles from where this song was recorded. I used to jest and say " coincidence, I don't think so." But of course it is a coincidence. A bittersweet coincidence. ❤️
