Luffy knows sanji lied. Luffy doesn't care what obstacle he has to overcome to have his nakama on his journey. He wants his whole crew to do what it is they want and help them overcome any obstacle. However sanji felt that his weight is too big now and didn't want the crew or any other "hostage" to dragged down with him. Sanji resigned himself to this fate for the sake of those he care about despite his own will since he isn't strong enough to resolve it any other way... Luffy ain't having any of that though, luffy will go to the ends of the earth for his nakama. Even Sanji in this situation. Luffy lives free to do as he wants and so should his crew!

Don't think I've read a comment about it. But Luffy threatening to starve to death is a challenge towards Sanji. Just as Zoro who swore to never lose again... Sanji, with Zeff, swore to never let anyone starve to death and that's why they would feed everyone. Luffy basically is saying if you let me starve you're going against your entire life and disappointing your father Zeff. And honestly the fact that Luffy knows that and uses it against Sanji is understanding on his part.

Think big mum was being cautious around the Germa 66 because she thought that Sanji was one of their "precious" family members. The only people who knew otherwise was Germa66 themselves and Sanji. Technically it wouldn't be smart for the Germa's to expose themselves that they sent someone of no "value" to them to marry into Big mom's family, where Big mom won't have any hold on the Germa if worse comes to worse or smt like that haha (That's what it looks like for now). And as for the giants... well it's true that we didn't see any of em even those Totoland was supposed to be a country that unites all races.... But we'll see as the story unfolds ;)

I really dislike the difference between Luffy and Usop and Luffy and Sanji. Yes, it’s supposed to show his growth. But I still dislike how he beat the shit out of Usop for defying his orders and all but allowed Sanji to beat him up. Also how Usop had to ask for forgiveness and all while Sanji had no repercussions

The difference is that Sanji was blackmailed into doing it and that he didn't want to abandon his (mostly) scummy family to die. In Usopp's case, it was a difference in opinion about the fate of the Merry. Luffy is a great judge of character of his crew, he knew Sanji was forcing himself to fight, Usopp did not. Therefore, Luffy responded appropriately to each situation.

The situation was the same to him and was very similar. Usop had a very valid reason to his reaction, so did Sanji and even if Sanjinwas forced to, he still attacked their captain, allowing the enemy to capture him and Nami and abandoned the crew.
