Military Surplus Packs: Patrol Pack vs. Three-Day Assault Pack

We picked up a Military Surplus Patrol Pack and a Three-Day Assault Pack from eBay and decided to show what each of them offers and look at the similarities and differences.

We tried to fill each pack with a similar amount of gear, so you can see how they stack up against each other.

I love the 3 Day Assault Pack! I used this in Iraq during combat operations. I had in it was another spare 100 OZ water bladder, spare 5.56mm bandolier, striped down MRES for 24 hours, poncho, poncho liner, extra batteries for my NVGs and combat light, flash bang grenades, and other stuff for 24 hour operation minimum. Very comfortable to wear on my Interceptor Body Armor. It was an assault pack when ever for patrols and in fire fights to carry without being burdened but have the stuff you need for moving and shooting.

I like how the UCP backpack has the front pouch zippered unlike the woodland. I still like the woodland camo more.

Ambulance_Boy FYI, that configaration comes with woodland camo as well. But personally, I like the older style, that extra padding on the shoulder straps are so much nicer.

I got a 3-Day Assault Pack from my son when he came back from Afghanistan. It’s a very comfortable backpack, even carrying 50 pounds of gear. I keep a 72 hour kit in mine. 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸

First was the patrol pack in woodland, then was the jumpable patrol pack with the smaller size, but many of the features of the assault pack. I've seen the jumpable patrol pack in woodland and three-color desert. Finally was the assault pack in woodland, desert, ucp, and finally multicam.

I just bought the one on the right, mine has been through 4 tours in the sand, really worn but everything works.

You missed it but the patrol pack has top flaps for a radio antenna or drinking straw by the drag handle

Nice vid, i have the Marine ILBE pack plus the Patrol pack for the Marine ILBE, and my Moll-ll is my bushcraft bag ,but im still looking for the 3 day pack for it thank you for the info.... good Lord you take out for dogs it's hard for me to keep track it to out there in the woods.. lol

To be accurate, the bandolier isn't designed for AR15 magazines. It's designed for 30-round magazines for the M16 or M4 ;) Thanks for the video. I'll look through your other videos.

That UCB pattern sucks and is too light reflective . Rit dye in apple green or dark green is the way to go . Great video and thanks .

#FayetteNam Designs The ACU assault pack is significantly bigger than the woodland camo Patrol Pack. The difference is like a kid's packpack versus an adults backpack. No Joking. The two packs really are that different and the ACU pack is larger. I have both and the woodland camo one I hardly use anymore because it is just too small.

No, the woodland pack is the molle i patrol pack. I guess to put it in order would be Alice pack, cfp 90, molle i, and then molle ii. The acu pack is the molle ii assault pack. Both are made by SDS.

Daniel Hinkle There’s another woodland Camo patrol pack that attaches to the cpf 90. As far as I know, the main difference between the two patrol packs is the one that goes with the cpf 90 doesn’t have the Molle webbing on the side.

Both are GI issue. The woodland pack is the very first gen. It first came out as part of the RACK, ranger assault carrying kit. The when the mills ruck changed, they went to the model the is cut like the acu. It was produced in woodland, 3 color desert, acu and finally Scorpion/multicam
