I liked the idea of having that dedicated unit for the milker..good idea !

Great idea to have for milker in case of storms. I don’t mind these videos because I learn about the batteries & solar.

I can't find anyone who will ship to Hawaii. We're 2500 miles away from the nearest help too. I expect a lot of these power stations will be selling fast. With Aloha...
@CraigGrant-sh3inАй бұрын
Because of the battery or they just don't ship there? Do you know anyone on the main land that could get it and ship it to you? It wont be cheap but, you'll have one. @@normfromhawaii1173

While watching both hurricanes I thought about people having these. People that need insulin or other refrigerator drugs or a CPAP machine should have one.

That was a useful video! One of the best by-products of cows is defiinitely the dung. It has a high content of grass seeds in it so no bueno for the garden but running over the dried patties fertilizes your pasture nicely.

I have 2 - 100 watt solar panels charging my ice castle battery. Meets my needs, but my needs are minimal. You might convince me to get a battery generator some day. I have a 2400 watt Yamaha now that I rarely use due to my solar panel usage. Thanks for the videos!
@NorthernSeclusionАй бұрын
It is nice on the cloudy days to have the power station to maintain your Ice Castle batteries. Just added security and less need to fire up the generator.
@selms22Ай бұрын
As with all generators, a solidly connected ground is often overlooked. A grounding electrode is not important until it's needed, which is usually too late.
@richardchayer6597Ай бұрын
I have a 1000 watt solar generator and I use it every day for the last year or so. Might be time to up my game or watts as the case may be
@NorthernSeclusionАй бұрын
There is a real big difference between the 1000s and the 2000s. Things start up much faster when you get up into that 2000 watt hour category. The 1000s are nice though, you can just do so much more going bigger.

Very informative and entertaining, I just might look into one ,need to know more bout solar panels? Thanks Joe. Craig. Pa.
@NorthernSeclusionАй бұрын
I was totally stupid when it came to solar panels and solar generators etc when I started doing these but it is really super simple. If you have a 1000 watt battery and you have a 100 watt solar panel, that panel is putting out 100 watts per hour (at peak efficiency which you will never actually quite get) If your battery is 1000 watt hours and it is empty and that solar panel is putting out 100 watts, it will take 10 hours to charge that battery to full. If you have 2 -100 watt panels you just cut it down to 5 hours etc. If you have 1000 watts of solar panels, and everything is running at 100% efficiency, it will charge that 1000 watt battery in 1 hour.

I was wondering if you had a recommendation to get the most bang for your buck. You have several different power stations. Which do you like best? Or can't you say? Looking for something in case the grid goes down for days/weeks at a time.
@catswambo9706Ай бұрын
Haha I know what you mean with the 2lightbulbs. We live off solar and you learn. You know what time of day everything has its place. If its a cloudy day you don't waste with things that can wait for tomorrow. We don't get snow so solar and batteries work here. But you learn to live economical in usage.
@NorthernSeclusionАй бұрын
That is so true. You do not realize how wasteful a person is with grid power. Run that battery a few days and you get educated very quickly. Lol.

Hey Joe, I got a question? When Melissa makes butter does she make it salted? My wife won’t eat salted butter but I do. Thanks much for the video.
@NorthernSeclusionАй бұрын
She makes it both ways. About 3/4s is salted with sea salt (or something like that) and the other 3rd is non salted because some recipes call for no salt butter.

Why not get a 6 gallon water heater that runs off of 120 v. that way you don't have to tote from the house?
@NorthernSeclusionАй бұрын
It wont be long and it will all have to come from the house because of winter. On Tuesday morning all the hoses were frozen. Once we get all the water figured out (not this year) we will probably put a 50 gallon out there or a hot water on demand. We will need hot water for more than just the cow. The lines will have to be dug in underground below the freeze level.
@yellowdeer7163Ай бұрын

In the wintertime Mount panels vertically on South facing part. Then in spring adjust panels toget best sun exposure.

So basically a guy could run completely off of the power grid on a permanent basis if he had one of those batteries and a gas generator?

Solar panels would be a good thing to add to that so you are not running the generator as often.
