Very nice review! I especially enjoyed all the 'junk' on your work-table ! ! The cassette tape-cleaner, AA batteries, various connectors (rf to cable, etc.) RCA phono plugs . . . . yup, all the typical annoyances that go with a 'work' table. take care, rh
@12voltvids14 күн бұрын
It's typical of anyone that has been doing this a long time. We all want a spotless bench but everyone starts to hate doing this work after awhile and when done, we are done and just leave the bench like it is till the next project. I don't know anyone personally over the past 40 years that actually enjoyed the work. Even when it's just a hobby. It's just something we do. Just like golf. Now come on how many people do that because they enjoy it. My dad absolutely hated golf and yet he went to the course almost every day with a dozen balls and came home with none and then bitched and cursed about the shitty game he had and then the next day he was off to do it again

Wonder what effect the use of a dimmer in line would have? Say with 400 watts of light bulbs for example.

Great video. I just got one of these units to support my insulin fridge in case of emergency. It is a small dorm style unit. About how long did it take to charge the unit off the AC power brick from depleted? I'm sorry if you covered that and I missed it.
@12voltvids Жыл бұрын
It was a little over an hour if i remember. I sold it after the video was done as i didn't need another one. I have about 8 of them here. I did cover that in the video as i timed full load discharge and charge.

I've got one of these and I've noticed the screen keeps coming on when nothing is plugged in to it. I've also noticed a green light flashing inside and draining the battery. I can't find a way to turn it of completely.
@12voltvids24 күн бұрын
That's why the destructions say to plug it in and recharge from time to time so you don't end up with a brick.
@Daveprince568124 күн бұрын
@12voltvids you missed the point of what I said, the screen keeps coming on and off when not in use.
@12voltvids24 күн бұрын
Didn't miss any points. Was just commenting that they need to be charged from time to time to prevent turning it into a brick. I have no answer to what yours is doing because I don't keep the ones i have no plans to use.

I'm looking to buy one of these and found your video extremely useful so thanks for that. I have a question about recharging the unit. Via a 10amp 12v cigarette lighter this gives 120 watts which I assume is the wattage that the unit will recharge at. If I recharge via 220 from an inverter or mains it will only recharge at 60w. Is that correct? I'm grateful for your help.

These heater guns are bad to use at ½ power, because you are running the resistive element over a diode. At full power, the diode is shorted by the switch. So yes, on ½ setting it's half the power, but that's because one half of the sine wave is blocked by the diode. You could say it's 50% duty cycle.

Another thing, according to the manual, the solar charging function can be monitored at your figure tips. Does this mean that this device is intended to be used only by pretty ladies with trim figures? Also, placing an LED on a board where nobody will see it is illogical.

Lots of devices have leds internal. For testing purposes at the factory. I have seen devices at work that have alphanumeric led displays inside the cabinet only visible when the top is off being maintained.

@@Douglas_Blake_579 yes we have all seen them go off like the vape pens exploding in people's pockets and homes going up when their ebike went up. These however use lithium polymer cells. The ebikes that went up in flames were usually customer modified to get more range.
