I don't feel that Tigerlily is standing up for herself in this situation. This was something that should have been researched before she came to his country and definitely discussed and settled before they were married. We've seen this same story over and over again on the 90 Day Fiancé franchise. We saw it with Mohammed and Nicole and was part of what broke up their marriage. We saw it with the girl with the dark hair (Kim maybe) who married the guy in India and didn't want to live in the same house with the rest of his family, even though that was their culture. (They argued about her clothes too - especially the jeans with the holes in the knees). These folks shouldn't rush into these marriages without fully knowing what they are getting into. Do research on the country and culture and find out what that looks like for the guy in terms of expectations. There are countries where it's not just about the guy's religion/practice/culture/tradition, etc., but also in these paternalistic countries, for women not to submit brings shame to the man - like she runs the household rather than him. She knew right before they got married that they had issues and things that they still needed to discuss and didn't do her due diligence. She always sweeps things under the rug but then complains about it afterwards. At her big grown age, miss me with that. And each time that she does it, it is so that they can have sex - that's was the reason the first day that she got there and the reason again in this episode in Turkey.

I also wonder if Adnan is the youngest of the males in his family. It seems like he is used to getting his own way. Tigerlily was in an interview and confirmed that he paid for that entire lavish wedding and all she had to buy was her dresses. He comes across as immature but also spoiled - even from looking at how his older brother was with him. The brother also confirmed the family's and/or culture's beliefs about how Tigerlily dresses, how long it took her to get dressed and how disrespectful it was for her to keep them waiting 4 hours in the car, etc. He and Adnan got into a bit of a fight, and he told him that it was his job to get Tigerlily in order now that she's his wife.
