I had a coworker like that. Sensed something was wrong with her and was right (due to a number of reasons which I encountered and based on what other peole told me they experienced with her as well). Still she won't stop bothering me when I clearly avoided and portrayed that I dont want to have a conversation with her. In the end she got mad because of it and even gas lighted me, made me believe everything was my fault. She had this constant need to make everything okay when clearly its okay to know that not everyone feels the same way and its just making them more uncomfortable.

Children also call people like that as a more casual way of saying sir/ma’am and they can’t remember that adult’s name. Even though none of us liked Brian’s behavior with this girl so far, his mother could have used that lunch to give him a chance and actually talk to him. I had a similar experience years ago. My partner at the time insisted we go meet his parents in the Netherlands and stay at their house. His mother was awful to me-she ignored me, didn’t speak to me, and made me feel unwelcome from day one without ever giving me a chance. Later, I found out she blamed me for her son’s breakup with his ex, even though I had nothing to do with it. She also didn’t like that I was divorced and had children. It was really painful and unfair for me

I think the bottom line is that she's just not into Brian like that @ all & saw this as an "opportunity" as well as resources 🤷🏽♀️
