Add to that, beginning stages of cataracts, lightly abraded cornea due to no tear oil production, and dirty glasses, and I’m surprised the subtitles didn’t appear like headlights in fog.

The 60FPS version is much much better for the motion subtitle test. My Odyssey G9 did surprisingly well against the test, aside from the fully vertical dimming zones. That being said, the right-most dimming zone was lit up the entire time due to the branding logo in the corner.

Am I genuinely the only one who didn't know what I am supposed to be looking for in most of these tests? 😂 First of all I sometimes couldn't tell what segments are b-roll and which are tests. The "this motion should be smooth" one was clear enough, but it might help if you explained (for example) what blooming is so we can look for it? 😂

My Panasonic TC-P65ST30 plasma made in 2011 has been my living room workhorse. This test showed no issues at all. I'm truly amazed at how well it's kept up over the years. My 15-year old big screen Panasonic Plasma shows no burn-in, no dark spots, nothing. The only thing we did to it a couple of years ago was to put a non-reflective sticker on the front. It's still a space heater while it's running, but other than that I have no complaints. And it's *not* a smart TV, which is hard to find these days. I won't replace it until it petrifies.

2009 Panasonic 42 inch 1080p 60hz NeoDPD plasma tv. No burn in or image retention, no dirty screen effect, hardly any blooming, motion smooth as it should be, and most importantly, though not in this test: realistic skin textures. I got a Sony Bravia KDL-40R553C (40'') from april of 2015. Been using it daily as a computer screen (5-15 hours a day) and the only thing I've noticed (prior to this video) is a screen burn-in of the Windows Taskbar, a clear and very noticable line when the screen is gray. Though it is not that bad of a burn-in! Nice to see that my almost 7 year old TV still has no problems with frame-rate, banding nor DSE!

Alright, so for those of you that are freaking out because your monitor isn't tracking smoothly even though you just bought it, let me just reassure you that this video is basically a giant misinformation piece. I tested the video on a brand new very high end monitor, and on my last monitor, and the test was the same on both, so I was curious, and well... If you go to 2:18 and go frame by frame you'll notice that sometimes the text does not move per frame, it is still for 3-4 frames at a time, and then continues to move, and that is causing the janky movement that you THINK is your monitor. Its the video, not your monitor.

This is the KZbin compression
@RFC3514
@RFC3514 Ай бұрын
@@Littlebrownchicken - Compression won't have any influence on frame rate, unless your computer is so slow that it can't decode the video fast enough. If you're noticing discontinuity during that part of the video, it's more likely that your network connection is just not keeping up with the video. Rewind a couple of seconds, replay it, and it should play smoothly (because by then it will be cached by our browser).
@Ranstone
@Ranstone Ай бұрын
Just tested. Not an issue. Every frame has equivalent motion. It is likely your video codec being outdated, and reading the P and B frames wrong. Compression into P and B frames (FYI you too @RFC3514 ) does have influence on framerate in extreme cases, as it messes up what to draw and when. The video is 100% correct, but so are you, as this has nothing to do with your monitor/TV screen, and is a codec or driver issue on your end. Update video codec and drivers and you'll be golden.

Hi there, thank you for this handy video, I recently changed my 3 Yr old LG C9 in for. a lovely new Panasonic Jz1500, it's a wonderful Oled, which is just a bit brighter and has a few more options for picture settings than my older C9, I. needed a. break from LG as I've had so many although the C9 was my first oled, whilst waiting for the Panasonic to come I. had to use an older lcd, and I couldn't bear it after using OLED,, there's no going back, as for the test, my tv being Oled did wondefully, it's a very expensive TV as the C9 was when it was new, but it's a lovely upgrade and doesn't have the clunky home screen of the C1, thanks again for you're brilliant videos

Tried it again on a rather old NEC Spectraview 2690. Another tough bastard. You only see the slightest end-of-fluorescent tube darkening, but way less than those dark corners on the Sony. More like a 10% brightness reduction in the blue from the edge to x=30, and then from x=30 to x=1890 it is totally stable, only to gradualy go down a bit towards x=1920. The darkening is so even, one could easily mask it in software.

2 years old 42" LG C2 got as a monitor for my pc. Autodimming turned off since the beginning, turned on at least 15 hours/day (except when i'm on holiday), gaming + movies + yt at least 5-6 hours daily, rest of the time running ribbons screen saver. Still perfect, no issues.

Thank you for this. You wouldn't happen to know why comments are now unavailable if casting to Chromecast ultra? Noticed this about a month ago. My 900h has some vignette some blooming, but colors and bright white look great. Motion looks perfect to me. Same as a year ago, with similar test. Hoping to skip over OLED, if this one will hang in there for 5 more years or so. Hate the remote, love the quick as... interface from this mid-range LCD. Upscales everything pretty well. Some content on Apple TV, and Netflix look awesome enough 4 now. The 2.1 is fixed. I'm good with this placeholder TV. (Fingers crossed)

I have an LG C7T. This 60 FPS worked a lot better for motion than the 30 FPS. I noticed more on the pink colour that there was a You Tube burn in up the top right. I ran the Pixel Refresher in settings and it fixed it. Thanks for this video. Now I can monitor that burn in to see if it returns

Sony X900F I’ve owned since 2018, only thing I have are slightly dark corners, but thats it, no other issues, kind of surprised honestly.

Sony Bravia KD-50X85J. Did very well in everything except I noticed the very corners are noticeably a bit darker. TV was bought to use with my PC and PS5 back in early 22- so 4k 120hz. Used every day.

Useful test. I've got an old one. LG webOS TV 55EG920V-ZA. Clean screen, runs a bit slow and has quite a bit of burn in now from console and PC use/gaming, etc. Still great for movies that don't put up solid colours, sky boxes, etc, 🤣

I still have a Vizio from 2011 that is a work horse. No burn in, no visibly dead pixels, no dark areas. Looks as good as the day I bought it.

Using LG 48CX as a PC monitor, all motion interpolation disabled and this 60FPS is so much smoother. After 2 years use no issues. If anything this test highlights how good LG OLED panels are. I think Gigabyte use OLED and their OLED are 50% off at the moment. (Q1 2022).

Thank god i found that the issue was the video not the TV. The rectangle was glitching while moving fast and it turns out it was because it was not 60fps. All is pretty ok for a cheap TV (TCL 50"P735), the movements are pretty smooth

There's a song called Singularity by a producer called Stephen Bodzin. The film clip that goes with the song makes my TV screen sort of glitch out, it's like it uses too many pixels at once or something. The film clip is on KZbin

About 15 yo Sharp Aquos LC-37D62U here, works almost perfectly. The only thing is that the corner are very slightly darker, but it's only noticible with white screen and you realy have to look for it. Also a little bit of brighness dimming when the small square is in the corners. Otherwise I am amazed by the quality of it compared to my much newer TCL tv

Hi mate only just come across your vid this one and the original. I’m so glad I did as with it I’ve found on my right side of screen there is a black shadow from top to bottom. It’s not visible when watching or playing my series x but now I know it’s there it can’t be unseen lol. I guess a call to my insurance company is due. Oh yeah it’s a Hisense 43” Dolby vision smart to. Thanks bro again great video

So I have a slightly different problem than what you show in this video. My TV is a 2018 LG 4K, it's nothing high end or special...but I like it. But my issue is similar to the dirty screen effect, except instead of dark spots, the spots are like a blue-ish/purple-ish hue...extremely apparent on white backgrounds. I've seen people say it's failing LED's, but I can never find a clear answer.

Mine is an LG Super UHD. after the test I noticed the bottom of the screen, perhaps about a third. is a lot brighter than the rest. The colour test showed horizontal lines on the red, blue and purple screens. Any idea what the problem is?

Hisense U7K 55inch... noticed a bunch of dirty screen on the previous 58 TCLs that I took back... I have a bit of shadow in the middle of the screen but only subtlety on the white but is a bit more noticeable on the grey... none on the rest... When should I actually worry and should I take this back to get a new one? I have only had it for 4 days I have 11 more days to return them...
