The reason why they would compete is due to the finances the clubs would gain due to playing in the prem. Both clubs are massive and known worldwide. They both are very unique for both the right and wrong reasons however it attracts a lot of attention. Big players have said in the past how ibrox and parkhead have the best atmosphere on European nights so playing for them in the prem would be huge.

I’ll sum it up for all of the doubters. Celtic and Rangers have been to three uefa cup / Euopea league finals in 2000s. They’ve done this on peanuts, players costing 2 and 3 million pounds, you look athe English teams that have even struggled to compete at that level with squads worth close to a billion in value. The point is how attractive Celtic would be to the world’s top players given the testimony of those who have experienced European nights in Glasgow. Celtic , given the finances and level of competition , would be as attractive a proposition as Man Utd, City , Liverpool et al. That’s where the history tradition and global reputation of these clubs would pay off ; Glasgow is football city and this is where the greats will want to play. Try it and see!

Big fish in small ponds 90 % of Prem teams have massive support and great histories plus the further North you go in England the harder it is to attract the best players so I can't see many wives or girlfriends ( who always have the final say ) wanting to freeze to death in a Glasgow winter .I also think the fans would hate it, Celtic and Rangers fans have grown up winning trophies season after season so I'm not sure if fighting for a top ten finish every year would be what they would want.

What Ally should’ve pointed out is that the atmosphere that would be generated in the Prem week-in-week-out by the Celtic and Rangers fanbases would be unrivalled and hugely effective. Both teams could add at least 30K seats to their already large stadiums and still fill them. The passion, colour, and noise, (combined with exponentially increased finances) would elevate Celtic and Rangers above other similar level teams. It would also lead to a higher calibre of player choosing the Old Firm over other teams who can offer similar wages.

Every year Celtic sell 55,000 season ticket and the waiting list is around 30,000, how many clubs in England have 55,000 season ticket holders ? Celtic have said that if they ever play in England or a European league comes they will increase the stadium capacity up to 83,000, at the moment no club in England has a stadium this big. There are around 680 Celtic supporters clubs around the world. There are more Celtic supporters clubs in London than Chelsea have, or Tottenham have. I live in Alicante, Spain and there are 5 “PROPER” Celtic supporters clubs within 25 minutes drive of each other. I can’t find one single English supporters club. Did you not know that Celtic hold the record attendances for every competition in Europe, so it doesn’t matter the population of Scotland. Scottish cup final 147,000. European cup 136,000. Scottish league game 118,000. Biggest travelling support in World Sport.

Fan base from both clubs is far bigger globally than most teams in England bar Liverpool, man utd etc . That means with that support naturally already there it would be easy for a buyer for each club and on a level footing being player I think they would in a few years be up in top 6 . @@johntate5050 It’s not “if” it’s a fact that you can look up. Celtic don’t have access to the TV money that England and the other big leagues have access to limits the income. Celtic have to cut their cloth accordingly to the income for the SPFL which is around £2m per year compared to the teams relegated from the EPL that get over £100m. That’s where the disparity comes in. You put Celtic and Rangers into the EPL and watch top players go to them purely to play in the derby and if they could match the wages of the English teams players would flock there. 60,000 fans in Celtic park every week to watch them play St Mirren when Manchester City can’t fill their stadium for a historic 4th title in a row should tell you a lot.

The only reason, Rangers and Celtic may want to be in the English leagues is money, Scottish clubs get 0.01% of the cash England gets, and that's why they cant compete against English clubs in Europe. the bubble may burst in England, they get billions to show case the worlds best players.

REALITY CHECK FOR ALL CELTIC FANS: 1) If Celtic had a global fanbase they wouldn't need the EPL. They'd be generating their own Sky income via the millions of fans paying to watch the SPL. 2) La Liga has 2 big clubs & they're the 2nd biggest league in the world. The Germans have 2 big teams, the French only have 1 and yet both are among the biggest leagues in the world. If Scotland had 2 giant clubs they'd also have one of the biggest leagues in the world. 3) Celtic supporters clubs are tiny. Without exception they are just a few dozen ex pats in each club. They amount to a few thousand fans. Big clubs measure their fans in millions not dozens. 4) Irish bars aren't Celtic bars 5) When you played Sydney in Australia, Celtic expected to cash in on Ange's popularity but the stadium was practically empty. 6) Celtic Park is littered with empty green seats. You can only fill your ground when you play Rangers and European clubs 7) The 1960s are half a century ago 8) Celtic don't feature in the list of best selling replica kits globally. Fans buy kits. 9) Celtic don't feature on any surveys to find the biggest clubs in the world 10) As much as you want to be English, you will always remain Palestinian. 11) No other club has to resort to paying confused Thai children to support them in order to try and generate a global fanbase. 12) Celtic, a club like no other......thank God! One's more than enough.

Let's put aside egos and inject some realism into this debate. The reason why Celtic & Rangers dominate the SPL is because they have a colossal financial advantage over all their rivals. The gap is gargantuan. Celtic's market value is £116 million whereas St Johnstone's is 6.5 million. The 3rd biggest club Hearts come in at £20 million. This is why Celtic and Rangers dominate the SPL. Celtic wouldn't have this advantage in the EPL. For the first time in their history they wouldn't be top dog and even when they had EPL money the finances of Celtic and the other clubs would be pretty similar. The gap between the top 10 EPL clubs isn't that great. So why would Celtic magically succeed and even dominate on a level playing field? It's totally illogical. The UK's biggest club, Man Utd haven't won the title for 10 years and they finished 8th this season. The truth is celtic would struggle like fcuk and their fans would soon become angry, disillusioned and frustrated. they're used to winning everything domestically and that one season when rangers won the title Celtic fans went into meltdown. Neil Lennon even received a parcel bomb ffs. Imagine how they would cope if they went ten , twenty or thirty years without winning anything. Imagine years failing to qualify for Europe. Arsenal haven't won the title for 20 years and it took Liverpool 20 years to re-win it. Celtic fans would hate the competition and the reality of life in the EPL because it's not easy street like the SPL. I also find it staggering that celtic fans would even contemplate joining the EPL given their hatred of all things English.

It’ll never happen but if it did the financial backing with the fan base and history celtic have …it’s a no brainier they would be top 6 every year. People look at the hypothetical under the basis Celtic walk into the prem with the team they have now. Get real…not one team in the PL have the same team year on year. Money changes everything….
