When i think about new heroes, i think more about new machanics, rather than pure hero excitement. And of course Wolverine looks interesting based on an ally card. Then i would like to see Rogue with her power stealing ability, nightcrawler's teleportation, or Angel/archangel with two hero forms. Mystique maybe?

The X-Men that I am excited for are Wolverine, I want to see how they implement his healing factor as a hero, Professor X, a reverse Hulk but decent, and nightcrawler. As I'm sure you've read a million times by now, The response on Kitty Pryde's Solid Mass Form is option. Does this change your opinion on the character?

The 'response' on Shadow Cat's Solid Form Card isn't 'forced', so you can choose whether to flip or not. The 'response' on her Intangible is 'forced' though.

Shadow Cat is Kitty Pryde. Shes been in 4 of the movies. She was played by Ellen Page in X3 and Days of Future Past. They just didn’t call her Shadow Cat.

Something interesting to note that I think you misread on Kitty's Mass Form card... while the flip from Phased to Solid after attacking or defending is a Forced Response, the flip from Solid to Phased after attacking or defending is a Response (so you can choose whether to do it). Also, Kitty and Pete are two of my favorites and personally I think it makes a lot of sense to release them together in a box since they're one of the most prominent couples in X-Men history (even if they're a bit on-again-off-again) next to Rogue/Gambit and Scott/Jean. So, I'm VERY excited about this box!

As a child of the 90's X-Men cartoon, I've spent almost my entire time playing Marvel Champions hoping for the X-Men to be added to the game. The X-Men have such a diverse and interesting array of characters, and I feel like that really opens up the design space for them to have some unique and interesting mechanics like what we've seen with Colossus and Shadowcat. Cyclops is my favorite, so I'm glad we're getting him right at the front end of their introduction. As far as the other four that they're going to introduce, there's an exactly 0% chance that Wolverine and Storm aren't in there, so I think the last two would be some Gambit/Rogue, Nightcrawler/Psylocke, or Ice Man/Dazzler(maybe Jubilee?). The fact that there are so many legitimate possibilities just makes this such an exciting time to be into this game!

Those are solid picks. Angel, Iceman and Beast are the other classic X-Men besides Cyclops and Jean Grey, so maybe they will go that route.

i read xmen from 1985-1995 and got many back issues. I would say that these two characters are very very well established x-men characters, and are two of my favourite, especially ShadowCat. Both have been around since the early days of the second wave of x-men (late 70s). Kitty was even the focus of an X-men cartoon that never got made (look for X-men cartoon Pryde of the x-men on youtube). She was also played by Elliot Page (formerly Ellen Page) in X-men 3, and did appear in X-men 1 briefly (played by a different actress). Colossus shows up in a couple X-men movies as well as Deadpool. Definitely a great character. Famous for his "fast ball specials" with Wolverine. His appearance in the cartoon doesn' t match his importance in the comic. He is a base x-men (when the roster was expanded) and not just "some guy that shows up occasionally" Definitely excited for both of these. Also, these two characters had a romantic relationship for much of the comics, I'm not sure where that stands now as I'm not up to date with current x-men stories.

As an old-school-Men fan, Colossus and Kitty Pryde feel like pretty good picks for me, given that as you note they'll save the biggest names for individual packs. Kitty features in some of the all-time classics like Days of Future Past, and Colosssus looks very cool from a design space. I'm sure others will have different opinions, but from the purely character (mechanics aside) side, these guys excite me more than folks like Spider-Woman, Groot, or Spectrum. That being said, still extremely pumped for Jean Grey, and hoping we get some mechanically exciting versions of Storm and Professor X one day.

SO excited for this and so pumped for everything they’ve previewed! Can’t wait to play this one and can’t wait to see the previews for the X wave. Colossus is looking like one I will highly enjoy and can’t wait to see what Cyclops looks like. Plus still so many more good X-men that FFG can use. If you never have, consider watching the 90’s X-men cartoon! I grew up with it and it’s gold standard for X-men in my opinion. It will really make you appreciate the characters and their stories. It’s better than the movies.

Perseverance is a card that was in a previous pack(s). It's extra good for heroes with multiple hero forms. I think it will still also be useful to Colossus despite his single hero form just due to his tough card mechanic. Maybe 2 copies max though?

My guess is the way they'll solve Shadowcat's abilities being niche is by introducing various ways for heroes to give those keywords to minions/side schemes in exchange for some benefit. We've already seen one with Gate Keeper. I also wouldn't be surprised if Kitty has an event that allows here to search the deck for a side scheme or minion and put it into play in exchange for some reward like card draw so that in scenarios that do have guard, patrol or crisis she can guarantee she's able to use her effects.

I run a deck for each aspect, Come September they are all getting replaced with X-men, I'm happy that so far they all seem pretty good but it wouldn't matter, I'm hyped to be playing the X-men, Aggression X-men look really interesting so far I mean many of those cards combined with existing, We might be looking at a new style for red that is truly ally focused like Blue but well dmg dealing rather than recurring, You won't be able to spam them from the grave but they are going to be hard to kill in the first place and hit really hard

I love the fact we are gettingg X-Men! To me this is a reason to get in to Marvel Champions, as I wasn’t as fond of Avengers, Guardians and the likes (I always read Spiderman and X-Men comics). Hearing also there will be six heroes released for X-Men I jumped the gun and went ahead getting Sinister Motives for some spiderman love together with some scenario packs. So whatever comes after I am hoping to have 2 nice “sets” with Web Warriors Miles, Gwen and Penni and a lineup of X-Men. Only needing the standard encounter deck from the core to get them on the table :).

Having some A- list baddies. I'm so glad they've gone with these two classic love birds. They're pretty integrated in a classic line up. Through multiple iterations they (like nightcrawler) keep cropping up. The first class (beast, cyclops, iceman, jean, and angel) had a new team and out of them Wolverine, Colussus, nightcrawler and storm stuck. Then kitty cropped up, and then the next batch of new mutants had rouge gambit (and Psch-loke?) stick around after that. New characters come and go... but they remain pretty standard. Now if they pull out Banshee and Sun spot and the Dazzler then the Jurys out for who they'd pull in.

I'm glad we got Colossus and Shadowcat in the actual Box set I wasn't thinking they would be in the box but I'm not gonna complain because I love how they adapted them as heroes. I personally think the other four will be Wolverine, Storm, Rogue, and Gambit. You can't have Rogue without Gambit and vice versa. They are both extremely popular and considering that they what Fantasy Flights is doing with dual drops it would make sense. Wolverine is an obvious lock there is no way we aren't getting wolverine and I'll make the same argument for Storm.

Exciting? Absolutely! Early on Colossus has my attention simply for fun shenanigans with Tough. I foresee many card draw builds from him. Whether MG will be awesome or not remains to be seen (I assume it will be good). It takes the MC community to really dig down into a design. The real make or break will be the villains. I’m hoping for more story. I’m expecting more faffinage with tokens and no more tokens to take up the slack. I’m somewhat disappointed that FFG isn’t declaring that with X-men we also have Core Box #2. You would think that would be a great way to entice the cohort of X-fandom into LCG. And they didn’t put Gambit in a card game. Sometimes I despair for humanity.

There's an interview somewhere that discusses how the only pack they can assume everyone has is the core set. And that can inform what they include in other packs and the amount of copies and so on. But they can't assume anyone has any other packs or cards. If they had two different core sets and you didn't need to own both to play, it would put them in a tough spot design-wise with not being able to guarantee someone has the original or the new one, when deciding what cards go in what packs. I think that's their main concern.

Acute Control "After you ignore the guard or patrol keyword on a minion, exhaust... -> deal 2 damage to that minion." So... What if there are say 3 minions with Guard. You ignore the Guard keyword, exhaust this card, now Acute Control is doing 2 damage to each minion!?!? Is that the way it works? Could be a minion board wipe if played correctly. The same could be said for Intangible Interference... What happens when more than one card has the crisis icon? Does it hit all of them?

I was excited until I saw that it looks like they're using current incarnation for the characters costumes instead of what they looked like at the height of their popularity in the 90's. Colossus is the closest one, but it looks like everything is going to look like current costumes. I mean Cyclops looks horrible in his current costume compared to his classic 90's design. I mean, if they wanted to really capitalize on X-Men, they should have gone with their most popular looks, which is when they were most popular and selling the best....which was the 90's...which is a proven fact from the X-Men comic book sale records. The X-Men books are struggling now so it makes zero sense for them to go with the current looks.

It too bad you are not familiar with the xmen comics. Colossus & Shawdowcat would not be my choice to lead the way. Not on the level of othe xmen.

Yeah I wish I had been into them and reading them growing up! Maybe one of these days I'll dive into some popular comic storylines featuring them.

Gotta be honest, disappointed. I knew they were gonna milk the great characters of x-men, but damn. I'll prob skip this cycle and wait for the next x-men cycle before I start pulling the trigger.

Which characters are you most wanting to see as packs from X-Men?

I've been reading X-men since the early 90's. And this does not make me feel like they are going to do the X-men right. Wolverine should be Collossus's favored ally, and they should have a team-up card called "fastball special." Litteraly, the most famous tram-up move in all of Marvel. And Kitty Pride (my favorite X-man) should be any other aspect than aggression. I would pick leadership. But they are cleary going for more of the Clairmont Era of these characters. In which, she should be justice, for the same reason that Black Widow is justice.
