I think you’re missing the biggest thing that Spider-Man Noir. He holds onto the treachery cards, meaning they are no longer in the deck! I wouldn’t want to use him to thwart or attack. As long as he’s alive he keeps bad cards out of the encounter deck!

Way too slow though. You're basically using up 4 resources to keep a few random treachery cards out of the deck which would only potentially come up maaaany many turns later anyways. And it can also backfire, since he may store some easy treacheries that you DO want in the encounter deck, and suddenly you have made it more likely for the bad treacheries to get drawn unless you sacrifice him. Not to mention his effect is inactive unless you're playing web-warriors. This guy should be a 2 cost ally imho.

@@sAKecOkE It's not a forced response. If you don't want to store the treachery, you don't have to. But in general, skipping them would be inefficient. He could power up to 3/3 pretty fast against some scenarios and in heroic. But yeah... he seems ok. Fun addition for web-warrior decks. I think it would be pretty rare that I would bother using him to hold onto treachery cards simply to keep them out of the deck. Maybe in a big multiplayer game, where you cycle the encounter deck faster.

Yup, you're definitely right. Although regardless of how powerful that ends up being, I guess I find it less interesting to play the ally that way. But that's purely a playstyle thing on my part. It's still really interesting to have that option.

Really keen for this one, and funny enough is similar to the Moon Knight custom designed hero with the multiple identity cards.

For a bit of fun, this new Daredevil ally is not the same Daredevil from the main Earth-616 that we have on the justice ally and that people want as a hero. This is Daredevil from Peni's home universe of Earth-14512 Also the Iron Spider Sinister Six is from the main universe Earth-616 too, they've just put it in with Sp//dr because spider related I think. This Iron Spider is Miles Morales' uncle Aaron Davis, who is also in the game as his nemesis Prowler

Do you think Noir could take and hold some of those new pesky encounter cards in Mysterios deck that constantly gets shuffled in your own deck? He can just permanently hold and hid painful encounters for these new villains that cycle through their deck quickly.

Great review! It is an exciting pack to see FFG pushing the design space in interesting ways and I think all the aspect cards are great additions. Unshakable looks awesome for Hulk, She-Hulk, Thor, and Drax. I’m interested to see Forcefield with Groot as well. I enjoy seeing new cards that aren’t just “more powerful” but add niche and unique design approaches. I think that’s a really healthy way to grow the game long term.

The thing about Spider-Tingle is that you have to discard it before revealing, meaning that you might miss on it being a treachery. You need to have some sort of manipulation of source of information to make it really good.

I appreciate how unique this hero design is, although if I'm being honest, I'm not sure I'll end up buying this one. The most exciting card revealed so far for me is Thwip Thwip!, so I'll probably proxy that one. Everything else seemed merely okay. But, I'm encouraged to see how creative they are getting with new hero packs.

Superior Spider-Man!! I hope we get a proper hero pack of him, he is one of the coolest iterations of Spider-Man. SP//dr is pretty cool. I really like that they went all-in on the theme of jumping into a mech. As a Gundam fan I'll be picking it up for sure!

Based on the card count there seem to be 3 copies of all systems go. Also that mod Sinister 6 is still from the main 616 universe it’s just lead by Aaron Davis AKA Miles’s uncle AKA Iron Spider and has a bit different roster from the traditional sinister 6.

Spider-man Noir can just sit on Advances as they come out and remove them from the game.... Multiplayer he'll be king. I'm impressed by so much in this kit. A hulk fix, and interesting hero and great defence events from the spider-people! There's also potentially a Rocket Protection build hiding in this too.

Yeah I've seen a lot of the comments mentioning this and it's definitely true. Although I don't know why, but I find that to be a less interesting way to play Spider-Man Noir. Not saying it's not effective or powerful, but it's a less interesting approach to take with the ally than how I enjoy using my allies, I guess. But I'm excited to try it out either way and see how it plays with both approaches.

I honestly do not quite understand the negativity towards this hero. Yeah, she is a slow burn, but so is Iron Man, and that is still one of my favourite heroes. You can get the extra cards you need early game with the special ability and cycle through your deck quicker. I honestly love the idea of fewer cards but loads of resource generation, I wouldn't't want it for all heroes, but it works. I worded for Iron Man too, right? Love the new protection cards as well, I used to never play protection, but with heroes such as Drax, Ghost-Spider etc, its getting to be my favourite aspect. Ill def. pick this pack up as soon as it hits the stores.

For Rapid Deployment, I wish they would have added the word, "another" 3 threat from a scheme. I mean, sure we could deduce it means, "another", but does it matter if the 3 threat we remove is from a different side scheme? or it only applies to the one that we are currently activating against? Small things like that I find just throws a little slow down in the game play.

So bold, so unique! I love it. But I fear SP//dr will be doomed to mediocrity. Just hoping I'm wrong. A hand size of 3 in hero form is a hard pill to swallow. 4 is pretty crippling for most heroes, there's not one outside of Ant-Man (who also has a hero form with 5 and multiple sources of card draw) with a handsize of 4 even in the top 50% of heroes by strength, in my opinion. Arguably Thor against Mutagen Goblin, Zola, or Drang specifically. Maybe. So to have just 3? OOF. I understand the reasoning, and I think 'Aunt May & Uncle Ben' will be this deck's best card since it has a chance to effectively increase your handsize to 5, but it's just not reliable. Marvel Champions is a game of putting out fires while building up your board, and then, upon reaching critical mass, turning against the villain via spare resources/crazy combos. Each minion? A small fire. The longer you leave it, the more it keeps hurting you. Extinguish it instantly, before it can burn you, and you take 0 damage. It lives for one turn? It hits for 2 damage. Two turns? 4. Three turns? 6. Fire spreads, big number goes bigger. Hazard icon side-schemes are similar but worse - because it's a fire which sets new fires. This is all relevant because a small handsize means you won't always have the right solution, no matter how many resource generators you have. And if you've lost the game before you setup, all these potential resource generators don't matter. With such a small handsize, SP//dr is going to have a real struggle reliably putting out fires. Whether that's all of them in solo, or specifically for a role it's built for in multiplayer (clearing schemes, etc). The less cards, the less options. And that hurts. Just a pinch of bad luck and I see SP//dr's house crumbling. Daredevil is okay - good by the standards of most 2-cost allies, but excellent by Protection's 2-cost allies. Spider-Noir is just soooo sloooow. Imagine if you don't reveal any encounter cards with bad luck across three turns. However! I think the new Otto Spider-Man ally is going to be fantastic for Miles, Gwen, and SP//dr. With Web of Destiny and one piece of tech you can use (like Web-Shooters or Web-Bracelet), you're getting your tech readied and two cards drawn, and an ally who can thwart for 1 then block an attack. Otto Spider-Man is going to be a better Ironheart for the Web-Warriors - and we all know how good Ironheart is. Thwip Thwip and Spider-Tingle, as if their funny names weren't already giveaways (I kinda love them though), are for Spider-Ham. By damaging him for one, you gain a toon counter with maximum efficiency. Other than for Spider-Ham, they're a bit behind curve. Stunning two enemies is rarely necessary - sometimes it is, but outside of multi-villain scenarios, it's inconsistent. And, against Steady, a Tough is usually cheaper. The new Daredevil is a cheaper way to block, even. And, with bad luck, you're going to keep on hurting yourself with Spider-Tingle until you finally get a treachery. Better hope it's a bad treachery - because even Thanos has some treacheries which aren't so bad. Not being able to see what you're blocking has a heavy cost here. Forcefield Generator and Repurpose are the pinnacle of this pack to my eyes. If your hero likes tech, they'll like these. And most tech-heavy heroes can ready themselves. Rocket with CITT and I've Got a Plan, Iron Man with Arc Reactor, etc. Forcefield Generator is, when measured purely in cost to damage blocked, pretty awful - when Expert Defense stops 3 damage for 0-cost, 6 damage for 3-cost is bad. But the beauty of this card lays deeper with the aforementioned readying combined with Repurpose. Forcefield Generator never wastes its damage prevention, and that damage prevention helps trigger things like Unflappable and Desperate Defense. And then, with 1-2 counters left, you repurpose it. Suddenly, you're thwarting for 3 more. Do that and then ready to activate again, that's 6 thwarting. A 0-cost card and 3-cost card, to play both, is a total of 5 effective resources. 4 damage blocked + 6 thwarted is good for that. If you can push this to 5 damage blocked, and ready up twice? For 5 effective resources, you get 5 damage blocked and 9 thwarting. That's crazy good. Combine these with existing tech synergies and existing Protection cards that trigger from taking no damage? You're laughing. Special shout out to Groot, who, since the timing is the same (Forced Interrupt), can take damage on his Forcefield Generator rather than lose growth counters. This will be huge for Protection Groot, since growth counters are worth way more than 1 HP blocked. Their true worth is closer to 3 HP blocked, or 2 damage, or half a ready-up. In other words, a growth counter=one resource. Saving 6 growth counters via Forcefield Generator? You just turned 4 resources into 6. More than that, you enabled more of Groot's cards to be worthwhile playing due to having counters, granting him more flexibility with every hand, giving an additional benefit that's hard to quantify. Ensuring that 'I. AM. GROOT!' lands for 10 damage? This is huge. I can't help but wish Unshakeable was 0-cost, because, for Hulk, it should be. Thor? 1-cost is fine, especially as the recent Godlike Stamina card clears stun/confuse. It's still a great addition and they did well by making it a physical resource card. I hope they continue on this trend! Great video, can't wait to see the full review later down the line!

Really interesting but hand size is killer. The weakest heroes are often those with the smaller hand size and not having cards to deal with a changing game is probably going to be the downfall of SP//dr. In this instance, I believe Iron spider is Miles' uncle Aaron Davies.

First impressions are that she’s Ironman; slow start then deadly. I don’t think nerfing hand size is a wise idea, but what do I know? “Another Protection deck” gets said a lot lately. A nameless Daredevil seems sloppy. How it actually plays when out solo or with friends will be determined this summer.

This pack seems really cool, but the reason I'm in these comments is because of the encounter set. I'm super hype for this one. It's a bit more obscure but this is a Sinister Six brought together by the Prowler to steal the Iron Spider suit, which the Prowler then uses. Miles is the one who fights them and this was a big story arc since several of these characters are linked to him. The obvious is Prowler, Aaron Davis his uncle, who steals then dons the Iron Spider suit. The other one is Bombshell. There's two of them, one being a classmate and friend of his, and her Mom. The minion seems to be her Mom, who is the one who is deep into crime and forcing her daughter to also participate against her will. Her daughter can be seen on the Grand Larceny side scheme. Sorry for the exposition dump, but I'm so hype for this. Never did I expect to see this encounter set but it fits so well as a Morales villain, and it gives me hope that we may also see some of Gwen's villains in the future.

I like Spider-Man as much as the next guy, but I'm really not super into having this many different Spidey-based packs. It's just thematically not as much variety as Avengers, GotG, X-Men, or Defenders/Marvel Kinghts. Whether the packs are fun to play is a whole different thing, I'm just not loving the theme.

I actually love that we get a mix. I think they want this game to have longevity and if they started and continued with only delivering the most popular heroes, we'd quickly run out of the biggest ones and only be left with the niche or less popular ones. Peppering them throughout the year and finding interesting gameplay mechanics to make them more desirable is a pretty good approach, at least for me anyway!
