Click on the object in the frame editor, go to the Run Time Options tab under the Properties window, and uncheck Follow the frame.

Does anyone know of a great way to pause movements? I tried this method and it works great, but...anything using CTF movements continues. For example, an enemy "launches" a bullet. Everything stops when the main group is deactivated except for the flying bullet. Of course, this could be used like the Mega Man 1 bullet cheat. Any ideas? Thanks

Hello, I just started using fusion 2.5 and have been following your videos for most of my learning. I followed the first 2 videos on making a platformer so far then followed this one on adding a pause menu, using the hard code option. I got it functioning for the most part other than once I hit the pause button my object attached to the PMO movement just fall's through the platform. I tried searching the comments here and around the fusion site but was unable to come up with an answer. Do you have any ideal on what might be going on? Thank you for your time and the great videos!

But it can't be paused if it is using Clickteam Fusion Movement, such as the Platform Movement.

Everything works fine, but I have one problem in the pause. When I click on pause, all stops except for vehicles that move from top to bottom. If specifically, they do not stop immediately when pressed, but after moving from top to bottom. How to fix it???

Well, that depends on how you have your vehicle movement coded. Is it a behavior? Is it a built in movement? The hard code method I showed will not work with built in movements by default. You will have to set the movement to STOP when you trigger the game pause. If it's a behavior you will have to do the same thing I showed in the main code (disabling a group of events) but do it in the behavior that controls the vehicle movement. I hope that makes sense.

when I click on pause, so I made to the cars stopped, but I do not know how to do that when I press play to continue the movement of vehicles. in my case, when I click on the pause it stop, and when i click on the play this frozen and unresponsive.

I know this is old, but if you can reply (awesome videos btw), hard coding pause like this also cause custom engines to stop working (fast loops more specifically, custom platform engine using fast loops stops working after deactivating and then reactivating the main engine group, where the custom code is). everything else halts and starts again, but fast loops stops from being called after reactivating their groups :(

Hey AlmightyZenTaco...thank you for the tutorial, but it didn't really cover a menu at all...it just covered how to pause your game. How would you create the menu itself and have the menu show up? I assume you'd need to create the menu in another frame and overlay that frame on top of the currently paused frame? Can you help with that?

I'm going to be honest here, I don't really know what you are trying to say. Do you mean a bridge that gives way under the weight of the player and other objects, bending and swaying with physics? Or do you mean like a drawbirdge that goes up and down?

Not that I know of. I just grab the corner, wait for the scaling icon, and scale it.

I'm honestly not sure. I don't think there is. The cursor is controlled by windows itself, though I guess you could make a secondary cursor that sometimes follows the windows cursor and other times does not. Why do you want to jump the mouse cursor around?

You mean like a zoom? Unfortunately Fusion does not have a good way to do this. You can with some objects and a little elbow grease, but it is not something I have looked into. Honestly it should be a simple viewport adjustment, but fusion 2.5 is built on really old code so hopefully this is updated in fusion 3.

I wish this had a .mfa to look at. I'm working on something like this using loops to turn off and on my groups. I can get it to pause, but it doesn't unpause. No offence, but the checkmarks are horrible to see what you put in them.

Let me see if I can translate what I have to words on youtube. This is the order it's in in my code. I have a couple of String changes in too but that's only for my debugger to watch if it works (redundant with player movement pausing, but still I want to see if the string changes at all). I left those out here (Then realized I made them part of the code string, so put them back. Group: "Pause_Loops" on loop: "UnPause" Player: Set (String name "State") "Not Paused" Platformer movement: unpause movement (For testing) Gears: Activate group "Pause_Controls" on loop: "Pause" Player: Set (string name "State") "Paused" activate group "While_Paused" Platformer movement: pause movement (for testing) Deactivate group "Pause_Controls" Group: "While_Paused" Upon pressing escape + Player: State = "Paused" Gears: Start loop "UnPause" 1 time(s) Group: "Pause_Controls" Upon pressing escape + Player: State "Paused" Gears: Start loop "Pause" 1 time(s) As soon as I can get this to work (and pause my player, then unpause him, I can put the rest of my groups in. (Edit note, I forgot to put in the player states that control things better, but still don't work. I added them now, in case you read this already).
