Oranges and Grapefruit boost ova production in roaches(and many other insects), it is not a myth but you aren't seeing any difference because your colony is pretty much perfect and so healthy. For anybody having a struggling colony oranges and grapefruit will turn it around in a heartbeat.
@TheOpelkoenjas
@TheOpelkoenjas 5 жыл бұрын
Indeed they do. Once you established a good running, healthy colony - this will be obtained after +18 months - oranges and grapefruit can be given as a treat once in a while and not as a daily food source. :) Cheers.

After seeing what you said about them playing dead I went back to check.. tricky little thing was alive and moving. Back in the bin for you my dear! I've never seen the smaller ones do this and this is my first batch of bigger ones. I'm working on breeding a colony since it's so hard to find them locally and I'm tired of buying them online. I’ve had a Dubia Intrusion for almost a year. I feed them to my bearded dragon, leopard geckos and scorpions. I keep them in a 45 gallon fish tank with fake plants, vines, real drift wood and a mulch floor. I actually love these little creatures! They are sooo easy to keep! They eat scrap fruits and veggies along with their roach chow. I noticed that they also eat the dead males. I got this intrusion with about 400 and now probably have about 500.

I’ve had a Dubai roach bin going strong for 6 months now and they live in a bioactive setup. I have not had to clean out their bin once. it doesn’t smell, there is no buildup of poop, the colony is thriving. Makes them a lot easier to take care of and eliminates the risk of some of them getting loose when I would be cleaning out the bin.

I cant tolerate insects, like any of them and ill faint literally if i see any of those near me BUT for some reason i like your videos. How can you do it? How can you just touch them like its nothing lol ?
@xylorimbal2925
@xylorimbal2925 6 жыл бұрын
Karla CG When you touch them for the first time it's not as bad as you think. I used to be very scared of these critters but when I touched it it was like polished wood. Btw if you touch a adult female on the legs to hard it spikes you. Dubia roaches are NOT the ones that infect the house. All they need to survive is time and high humidity. Sooooo don't give them time to infest your house if you live in warm countrys

When I was raising them to feed my animals and sell, I had to wear disposable gloves when cleaning or handling them as their pee made my skin itch. Add that with the fact their legs have those little hooks on them which can make little scratches on the skin, my hands would itch and burn for quite a while afterwards (even after washing them several times). Keeping on top of cleaning their frass is super important too. Wait too long and boy howdy, they'll STINK!
