I get the same look when I need to order parts, but my wife asked this morning, only half joking, if we could buy a Ferret recce car that is up for sale and she had her own Lightweight and 90…

Reminds me of my parents picking up their brand spanking new V8 110 county back in ‘83, managed to get all of 10 miles from the dealership before getting a puncture.

Enjoying the series a lot and learning about old Defenders (my main motivation for watching). Thanks for documenting and sharing! Greetings from a 1996 ROW Defender owner living in Suriname

Congratulations on making it back successfully. We have followed the journey with interest and looking forward to your upcoming content. Car journeys are just that but a long Land Rover one is definitely an experience / adventure!!!

YOU MADE IT ! Well done . BTW , a round object like a Screw or Nail tends to HOLD air . Very slow leak , and not a huge concern . Just monitor it daily . The Valve stem was almost certainly where the Air got out quickly . Those Stems should be Replaced whenever a New Tyre goes on .

Well done on nursing that back to Blighty, very lucky with the tyre valves. Really enjoyed following you on the trip, look forward to future videos

Great journey, I am sure you are pleased you were back in Blightey when the tyre needed changing, so much less stressful. I work on a golden rule in psi/ mph, never drive more than double your psi in mph. So you had 16psi, it would be safe to drive up to 32mph. I think you were already at the services so it wasn't a problem.

Incredible journey nursing this old lady back from Armenia, against the odds she made it! Look forward to seeing what happens next. I had valve end come off completely on a routine tyre check of my Lightweight just before a short journey. The valve may have been 20 years old or 1 year old cheap rubbish it had been driven like that just days before, really quite scary, had it happened at speed with my young son onboard we will never know.

Well done on making it back. Probably the valve. I had similar with mine back in August, two full days off road in North Wales, came home and shoved it in the garage all fine, went back two days later and it was flat as a pancake, was the valve. Local tyre place sorted it for me free of charge!

I’ve really enjoyed this little adventure, congratulations for getting it back to Blighty, very admirable, the only downside is that I’m now scouring the internet for a Defender once again 😀

When I get any Land Rover (I have had a few) the first thing I do replace is tyres. When I got my Wolf HS90 I bought a full set of G90s and had them fitted. I know that seems overkill, or maybe throwing cash around, but that is your first contact with the road. Braking, cornering, in adverse weather - it pays to be safe, as it could save your life or others lives. Great video though!

That could have been a major problem but glad they held on until the end (nearly). Looking forward to seeing what you do with this vehicle now. I am sure at some point the gloss paint will be sanded down and painted over 😝

In the last scene, is the RHD a result of the selfie camera creating a mirror image or have you already done a conversion from LHD to RHD? Not that I am aware that you ever intend to make such a conversion, nor do I think that you should do so. Regardless, congratulations on completing an epic journey from Armenia to the UK. For someone like myself growing up in the 1970s and '80s, such a trip from the depths of the former Soviet Union was completely unthinkable and if I'm honest, I don't think that many during the aforementioned time period were even aware of the different names of the Soviet Republics with the exception of Ukraine, Georgia (thanks to Eduard Shevardnadze, the last Foreign Minister of the USSR), Belorussia (as it was known then), perhaps the Baltic States and of course, Russia! The rest were largely oblivious. Even today, many of these countries remain off of the beaten track, although it is only a matter of time before they too attract more and more tourists, other than the overlanders. You have done this journey just in the nick of time to see that part of the world which somewhat remains a snapshot into a bygone age. I envy you, although I was in Czecho-Slovakia on its last day of existence and consequently in Slovakia on its first day of its newly found independence.

Had exactly the same problem with the valves on mine. I put it down to the fact that tyres on these cars are not changed as often as ‘normal’ cars. Just goes to show the valves do not last as long as the tyres

i had same thing with my tyre the other day i used the weight of the jeeps disc on it to pop the tyre off the rim and stuck a new valve stem in easy when you have the gear in stock

At around the 5min mark, are you paying to put air in your tyre???
@MrDvdelft3 ай бұрын
That Tdi was always going to make it back without too many issues. That's what these cars do... It's hilarious that you pay for air in the UK - I remember my first encounter with that sort of nonsense way back in 2002. Paying for air? Seriously? No-one in Africa would dream of charging for air... In Mozambique you can get a puncture fixed for the money you pay for air in the UK...
@andrewjones-productions3 ай бұрын
That surprised me too! I don't think we used to pay for air back in the 1980s and we most certainly don't pay for it here in Japan!

Why do so many people take the chunnel. The ferry from calais is just as good most of the time with the chunnel queues and much cheaper. I never made it through the chunnel in less than 2.5 hours

Sea sickness?
@knackeredrovers3 ай бұрын
@@gshort4707The ferries have exactly the same queues for customs/passport control, and in addition to the aforementioned seasickness issue, it’s also a big tin can full of screaming kids on a peak season crossing. If that wasn’t enough, there’s also the issue that half of the boats are run by those shysters P&O and I’d sooner build a raft than give those crooks a penny of my hard earned…
