I swear to Christ, Gene and Paul are going to monetize their deaths by selling Gold, Diamond, Platinum packages to their funerals. This would include a personal photo with the corpses. Afterwards, they'll both be buried with the cash.

Creatures was also my first and favorite concert in Toronto. Great memories. I agree they were hungry, especially coming off the Elder. The Millennium concert was also mentioned and I was at that show, it was in Vancouver New Years Eve.

I've been thinking perhaps the AI Avatar stuff is just KISS testing the 'waters of probability'. It's already died on the operating table in KISS Fandom. Yet, if you recall the '98 Psycho Circus tour tried a 3-D concept in arenas and stadiums. It had a very limited affect, better suited to large theatres and small hockey arenas. The ABBA AI experience was created in a stand-alone arena in London England. A touring version of the ABBA avatar show has already been deemed too cost prohibitive. The notoriously cheap Gene and Paul show will NEVER financially support a long term project like that. My lifelong love affair with KISS since '75 ended on Saturday Dec. 2nd just before 11pm when KISS disappeared into the mists of time. Now it's time to LET IT BE.

@johnpatterson4272 Some great points. People also neglect to mention that ABBA, a very popular act at the height of their fame and after their break-up, hadn't toured since 1979, so a huge demand existed from multiple generations of fans for a live show. KISS on the other hand have literally just finished touring everywhere for the past 15 odd years.
@johnpatterson4272
@johnpatterson4272 Жыл бұрын
@@m.b.boyack2228Very true, ABBA left the stage before video cameras, CDs, cell phones, the internet and live-streaming. The broader scope of their fanbase did not have such an ardent need to own everything with an ABBA label on it. Since the early 80s there has been a growing (almost pent-up) anticipation to see ABBA reform much like Led Zep. We all know that will never happen now, for ABBA fans it's the next best thing to being at a live show they will otherwise never see.

I'm a big Kiss fan. The avatar thing is a ridiculous way to end their final show. It's fine if they want to do that along with comics, movies, appearances etc., but those are side issues. I saw this tour when it started in 2019 and assumed it would morph and change along the way. For their last two shows the fans deserved more than what they got. They deserved a great opening act (something Kiss used to be the kings of but have fallen off big time in the last 15 years or so), maybe a few changes in the set list, a nice little appearance by Bruce Kulick and at least a mention of the late great Eric Carr. KISS tours seen - Creatures, Lick It Up, Asylum, Crazy Nights, Hot In Shade, Kiss My Ass, Reunion, w/Motley, w/Leppard, Freedom 2 Rock & Farewell 2019.

I'd give my 5 cents to "when I decided not to see KISS ever again". I was born in Ukraine, KISS have never played there until I guess three years ago, before the war. Anyway, my anticipation was growing and growing since 1988... finally, at some point I moved to Germany and that huge European tour in 2008 was the first time I saw the band. Paul's voice was still okaish but my mistake was that I bough tickets to 3 shows in the row. I was happy and stuff but I couldn't miss the fact that every step they were taking on the stage was scripted. I mean, 3 shows were 100% identical. Same speeches between the songs, same - to the detail - choreographics, same EVERYTHING. No real feelings, no sincerety, no rock'n'roll, all 100% staged. When I saw them for the third time in Stuttgart it was like watching robots going through a program. I could just stay there and predict every move, like "now Paul will go to the right and wave his hand... and now Gene will go to the left and point his finger in Tommy's direction..." Probably, I could bet for the next thing they would do and make some money that night. I saw them two times more (2010 & 2013) just because of a stupid hope it would be a different thing but no. Say anything you want about Ace but he's rock'n'roll, he still plays and acts like a human being.

@@83marceloa Correct... I have a couple of friends who are not KISS fans and just bought their tickets a couple of years ago to see KISS live for the first time in their life. They were very enthusiastic. Like wow, it was so cool, that guy flew over our heads and that guy with the tongue spet blood and there were so many fireworks... I was like aha, cool, good for you, man. I didn't want to spoil their party. My pain can be understood by the true KISS fans only.

You are so right about the staged movements. You can predict every word and move they are going to do and live rock is not precisely about that. It's a big disappointment because its soo unnatural. Four lifeless robots. I have been following them since the 70s but I lost quite a lot of interest a long time ago. Maybe because Ace is my favourite character (and his guitar playing was one of my biggest influences). That, the staged movements, selling from condoms to coffins etc etc. I don't know, they became a bit of a joke. Once said that they are an historic band and deserve all the credit for their great music and innovation. All the luck to Ukraine. So sorry about that stupid war. Best wishes from Spain! 🤟🏻🎸

I think most likely they will end up doing a hybrid type show which features both a digital recreation of classic Kiss AND a cirque de soleil-type tribute show with live performers riffing on the personas, while mixing in some superhero story/narrative. In other words, think The Beatles' "Love" meets Abbaesque meets a Marvel Imax movie, which absolutely could work, and people would definitely pay to see if done well.
@ChampippleD
@ChampippleD Жыл бұрын
I don’t know why you think that’s most likely. Abba doesnt do this and they havent mentioned anything about it.
@glennpagemusic
@glennpagemusic Жыл бұрын
@@ChampippleD I didn't say Abba does this. I said Kiss will most likely borrow elements of Abbaesque, and mix it with other things. They haven't said exactly what they're going to do; I'm basing this on my intuition what people around them (if they have good people around them) will advise them to do. They can't do a strictly "Abbaesque" type show, because Kiss isn't the same type of band as Abba. Part of the appeal of Kiss has always been seeing human performers become seemingly "superhuman" spectacles on stage - in a concept similar to cirque du soleil, but in rock and roll terms. The digital avatar concept is far more suited to recreating people who always represented themselves as real people and always appeared as such (like Abba or Roy Orbison), but can no longer perform regularly because they are either too old or actually dead. Once you go the full "cartoon" route (like the Kiss avatars) you've abandoned a big part of what makes a band like Kiss compelling. It's cool to see a real guy shoot rockets out of his guitar or a bass player spit fire or a lead singer fly out over an audience. You can still do all those things in cartoon form, but it comes a completely different experience when you lose the real life Clark Kent in the Superman scenario. That's why I believe Kiss will end up doing a hybrid of a few different show formats.

Ralph I had a similar Ace show experience. I’m a long time blue Kool aid drinking Ace nut swinger. Saw him earlier this year in Bristol, Va. His backing band held him together but Ace fucked up common vocals and chords. I brought my brother and it was embarrassing. I saw him back in ‘94 in a small Rochester club and he was amazing.

doc mcgee turned chiam and stan soft. Ever since the reunion it’s been lazy. They come back and don’t update their look. Same old costumes. New record to sell to support the tour? Nope. KISS changing their look always got people talking. Doing the exact same show for me is a major turnoff. Have to 1. Breathe fire(check) 2. Smash guitar(check) 3. Split blood(check) 4. Play rnran last with confetti(check) 5. Paul zipline (check) 6. Same setist(check) They can’t do any new shit because they believe they have to do all the old shit and there isn’t any room for it! They flat ran out of ideas. I was lucky enough to see “Just 4 Fun Tour”. Unbelievable. My city it was a club and they couldn’t fit anybody else in the building. Hot floor I remember. Hi Ralpf, Wayne, Tony and Kiss-Fans! I have to post my statement here again: It´s realy a shame.....especially the last show....... I don’t like the virtual crap Avatar band they created, but younger fans (I am 55 by the way) might do….especially when they’re not longtime Kiss-Fans and don’t know about the history of the band. My thoughts about the final show: 1. What a shame! a) no word about the great Eric Carr (RiP) and Mark St. John (RiP) b) no word about founding members Ace Frehley and Peter Criss c) no word about Bruce Kulick and Vinie Vincent. But performing songs that were written by Ace or Vinie is ok for Paul and Gene!?!?🙄🤔😎💰 2. It was a “normal show”, like the last 100 or 200 shows they did with that lineup. Nothing really special. 3. No respect to the former members by Paul and Gene at all. The money is the most important thing for them…💲💰 and it seems to me that Paul is the person who wanted most to keep the former band members out of the final program. A very unworthy farewell of “the hottest band in the world”! Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪👍🤘 Keep on rocking!👍🤘🎸 P.S.: Ace - Rock on! You are the only real Rockstar of the band - and Gene and Paul know it! Looking forward to the new album “10000 Volts”🤘⚡👍

I supported KISS and was interested in them for a long, long time, both as a rock band, and as theatrical form of entertainment. Even through several line-up changes. With make-up, without make-up... it didn't matter. However, in my opinion... in terms of newly recorded music, 'Revenge (1992)' was their last good record. Everything after that has pretty much been pure junk. In terms of live performance... I lost total interest in them after Peter Criss left the band in October of 2000. Ace Frehley continued on with them for about 6 more months for the final Japan and Australian legs of the 'Farewell' tour. But for me... I put a definitive end to my interest in KISS as Oct. 7th 2000 in Charleston SC. when Peter destroyed his drum kit at the end of the show. So for the past 31 years they haven't produced any good music, and for the past 23 years... their live performances have been a farce. The original line-up Gene / Paul / Ace / Peter kicked ass from 1973-1981. The various replacement players did a great job from 1982-1995, keeping the music solid and the performances exciting. And although the 1998 'Pshyco Circus' album was a terrible failure, both the Reunion and Farewell Tours between 1995-2000, feature all of the original members, was the last truly exciting and authentic chapter of the band. The rest of it is just a slow death to an old dream. R.I.P.
