Awesome catch and cook Rod ! Ceviche is so fresh and light, brings the full taste of the fish ! Tip on those banana bunches , break the bell off the bunch after all the hands have come through, it'll maximize the bunches growth and help deter pest or disease that might affect the bananas. Happy fishing mate !
@rokkitkit6 жыл бұрын
Yea I was wondering if I should cut it off or leave it... I cut the fist few bunches we got but left them this time. Will cut them now!

Sick as always, rod. Quick tip from someone who always never has a gaff. If you tail grab them the opposite way from how you did it, your grip is muuuuch stronger. So have him swim towards you. Grab his tail like you’re shaking a hand. Head back, tail forward.
@rokkitkit6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Fred, makes sense, will have to try it that way.

Great video, Rod!! Love the catch and cooks you do too... your recipes are always great and highlight the quality of the fish! Have you ever thought about doing more 'how to' style videos? I noticed that many your videos that are of that kind are some of your most watched, and I think that your audience (and those that aren't yet subscribed) really love that kind of content. Your mackerel rig video, for example, was awesome and the viewing figures are good. You could do stuff like: how to read a sounder, how to set up your kayak for fishing, how to fish with live bait etc.. it's just a thought. Either way, I love the videos and the quality content. Keep it up! Hope you get the Fishflicks gig too!
@rokkitkit6 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate, yea I should look at a few more "how to vids" will keep adding them when I can for sure. If the Fishflicks thing come through Ill hopefully have the time to smash out lots of them!

Try salting the chopped fish first for at least 30 minutes. Proceed to do all that you did with the exception of the sugar. Instead add fresh squeezed orange juice. It takes the edge off of the lime and gives the dish another layer of citrus.

@rokkitkit6 жыл бұрын
Are they not as tasty? I would have thought they would be similar.
@RikkiTikkiTavi2906 жыл бұрын
No, unfortunately they are extremely oily and fishy tasting, at least in my opinion and lots of others. Small ones are ok but the larger ones are usually only eaten smoked. The meat is very gray and nothing at all like wahoo or your spanish from the looks of it. We have a spanish mackerel as well but it is small and looks alot like your spotties. It is pretty good eating, along with Cero mackerel which are by far the best eating and also small in size.

Great fish, what do you look for weather wise for good fishing? High tide? Barometric? Or just a day off and take your chances
@rokkitkit6 жыл бұрын
Peek of either end of the tide is always good. First light and fading light. But hey sometimes you just have to give it a crack when you can... I'v caught fish in the middle of the day when you would have thought there was zero chance.

My 5ti is a great sounder but I would not recommend a touch screen for the kayak. It just gets so wet all the time and make it hard to use without wiping down all the time. on a boat they are awesome sounders. Apart from the touch screen issue the sounder is still coping all the saltwater and has not missed a beat.
