New subscriber 🎉 Alocasia Black Velvet looks lovely 😍 My poly hasn't flowered yet. "Oh wow, it's thick" 🍆🤭😇 Five of my six black velvets flowered for Christmas 🎄 Took time to read comments and your replies. And agree...choice is the owner's. I chose not to cut my flowers. When I cut the flower off my Rumpelstiltskin Alocasia, it grew another flower in the same shoot within 5 days. I was shocked as hell 😮 My motto is to let them be. Just be aware because flowering means your plant needs more nutrients. So, when I notice any of my babies starting to flower, I know it's time to water & feed. Thanks for sharing! I ❤NYC

You are adorable! I just acquired an alocasia poly that is in flower and didn't know what to do - thanks to you, now I know to cut it off. Thanks Eugene, I'm going to enjoy spending time with you and your plant babies. I'm in Calgary, Alberta. It's so dry here. Humidifiers are on for my plants all day. First world problems.

Loved your video! Liked, commented, and subscribed!😂😂 I was wondering if I should cut the underwhelming flower on my black velvet (so afraid to hurt her, lol), and this video gave me the courage to do so. Thank you, and I look forward to watching your channel.

I just cut mineoff aswell, are the seeds inside the flower part. I'd like to try n grow one from seed
@genegenelovesplants1766 Жыл бұрын
@@ErinJoy-sh2qw seems like there are two answers they grow from corms (i knew that one lol) what i didn’t know until today (thank you ver ver much) they produce seed pods as well. Place them on top of soil lightly dust them with a medium. Make lightly damp. Once the seedling appears (may take 90 days) plant them in indirect light 💡

My Polly hasn’t flowered yet, but my black velvet flowered right after I got it. I was so confused at first. Yours look gorgeous!

Yeah it looks like the plant is pregnant hahahaha i clip em right off. let that good energy go to the plant not the flower.

I love your alocasias! They are doing really well. Out of curiosity, is it possible to substitute cutting off the flowers with feeding the plant a tolerable amount of nutrients at a higher frequency during its flowering season in order to ensure that the plant has enough energy to support flowering and developing more leaves during that period?

The flowers for some plants aren’t so Pretty and serve A very specific purpose (You can absolutely keep them if you want. (Some People don’t want to keep them and that is also ok) they tend to take a lot of energy from the plant.the choice is totally yours.

@genegenelovesplants1766 Жыл бұрын
Same rules cutting back the flowers allow the plant to stay healthy. They aren’t in the wild so they flowers only serve an aesthetic purpose. Btw my alocasia black velvet just produced a flower. I’m gonna keep it and see how it affects the plant.

You know TBH my Alocasia Poly would do the same thing until I neglected it and let it do its thing. I never paid attention to temp or watering I just let it be. Now that im studying more I pay more attention to all the things. Also know that theyre tricky buggers and sometimes they will drop all of its leaves like mine did right after this vid. but they usually grow back.
