I’m from Little Rock and live in Lonoke. Both of which are only 45 minutes from Pine Bluff. Pine Bluff has been crumbling for the past 20 years but in the last 7-10 years the place has basically become abandoned. No jobs, cops don’t even patrol certain areas. I definitely wouldn’t wonder around at night because the whole area gets extremely dark. A lot of murder in Pine Bluff. People used to call in Crime Bluff

I am from Dumas which is thirty minutes south of Pine Bluff and all of those vacant lots that have bushes used to have big buildings. The majority of that area has fallen down. I wish it was like it was in the sixties and seventies. It is so sad.

This breaks my heart. I was born and raised there. LOVED IT AS A KID. VERY happy times. I went to Headstart 3rd grade at PineCrest, all the way to the 8th grade there at Dollarway. Jr. High. They merged the High School into Pine Bluff High. We moved to Chicago in 1976. I lived next to UAPB formerly AM&N College. I have came across some of my childhood friends here in Chicago. I even worked with one. We were next door neighbors. I remember downtown SO WELL! My oldest sister left from that Greyhound bus station with her husband back in 1968. I was a little kid. She was our Chicago connection. She lives in Vegas now. I lived at 1103 N. Hazel Street. It's a parking lot now for Pine Hill Church. So many fond memories to many to count. It was a classic Beautiful neighborhood city. Thanks for the Video and the stroll down memory lane. It was hard to hold back the tears. As the song said "Those were the days my friend I thought they'd never end!!!🙇♂🤦♂🤷♂🙋♂😪💔💞

I guess I see things differently than a lot of ppl. Pine Bluff felt a lot the same way that Nola felt to me. It felt like home. Felt familiar. Felt comfortable like an old warm blanket on a rainy cold day feels. I’m from Memphis but have lived in Arkansas for a while. My husband owned a gas station in PB and I still get excited and full of anticipation every time we decide to spend the day there. I have never felt unsafe. The ppl remind me of Nola with the same vibe and friendliness. The cupcake shop downtown…omg…heaven. I see so much history, culture, and potential from the way I view it and to me that is very very appealing. The city has personality and character and I feel like it’s been given a bad rap. I hope to buy an old abandoned house there soon and would definitely live there. Oh yeah that train that comes thru the town. I mean what’s not to love ❤❤about

I grew up there. My family came there after the civil war and some kf them are still there. My grandfather was murdered in one of those shops downtown in 1977. My parents left in the 90's when a lot of the industry started to leave. The city makes it difficult for new business to come in.

Hey I'm from Pine Bluff. If I knew you was coming I would met up with you to tell you a bit about PB. Rich's you could get a burger and drink for $0.79 back in the 90s. You should've went to Charro's. So good. I could've gotten you into a few of the buildings there, showed you some houses, and maybe even the Pines Mall. That place use to be popping when I was growing up. You was close to my dad's jewelry & pawn shop. Did you see the Sunbeam girl swinging at the end of Main St? It was opposite of the courthouse. She's old. I'm watching you go thru the mall now. The building you entered from use to be Walmart. There was 2 theaters there. I have alot of memories there. Anyways if you have any questions just ask. Maybe if you come back I can show you more with some history behind it.

I was born and raised in pine bluff Arkansas went to school at Whitehall and watson chapel. It used to be a really good town but a lot has happened throughout the years that caused it to go down hill. Whitehall is the nicer side of town. Anyhow. There actually supposed to be working on the town and trying to bring it back. We have a casino here. and lots of other stuff that's coming to town. There actually going to tear a lot of them abandoned buildings down and replace them with all new things. A lot of people like to put the town down and say it's dangerous but it's not as dangerous as what people think yes there is crime here but there's crime all over the world. No place is safe. Now days. Little Rock has more crime then pine bluff does see it all the time on the news. Anyhow if you ever come back to town hopefully things will look alot different by then. Hopefully better.

When my daughter was in the high school band of another town in south Arkansas, there was a tradition of the band taking the 3rd quarter of a football game off to get refreshments and wander around, often meeting members of the other band. In Pine Bluff, the band director had them stay in the stands and refreshments were brought to them. It was too dangerous just to walk around at their football stadium. That danger is why the city has declined.

The population is 41K. And you couldn't find ONE?! There aren't squatters. Squatters need food. Where are squatters going to get food? What happened? As usual, big corporations closed their shops and left town, leaving people nowhere to work. Lots of people left, but it's the PROPERTY OWNERS that left that mess.

I grew up and live about 50 miles south of Pine Bluff and it was the place to go back in the 70's, 80's and early 90's for the mall, stores, and civic center there. Which about all is gone except for a few stores scattered around Walmart. We now refer to it as Crime Bluff and usually just travel through on the way to Little Rock and rarely stop unless a necessity. It is really sad how the town has gone down due to how the locals treated it. People got scared to go there because of the crime and vandalism!
