Theo and Bee gave up their busy city lifestyles in 2014 to explore alternative living, and have lived in vans and boats since then without looking back! Along with their cat Ginjey Bear they have been driving around the world in their self converted Sprinter van. However, when the global pandemic hit they began converting their abandoned stone barn in Central Portugal to turn into a wonderful tiny stone cottage. Along the way, they have rescued a playful cat called Furrnando and have a wonderful flock of Chickens!

Theo, I'm commenting here, instead of thr the previous video, where you said you were Autistic. You are more than a diagnosis. I raised my 26 rear old grandson. At 5 years old he was diagnosed as Autistic. He would require 24 hrs supervision his whole life, wouldn't be able to balance a checkbook, marry, have children, etc....This was a Specialist! But I worked with Autistic people every day. I wasn't going to let a diagnosis define his life. He is married, has a 2 year old son, is in the Navy, & is a musician I'm so proud of him. And I'm proud of you.

Great video and I have high hopes the trees bounce back after given time to recover. On the plus side, the fire may have cleared the very flammable trees and shrubs which may help if there are future fires. If you do call for volunteers I would start with getting the irrigation systems back up so that the trees can be watered to help speed healing, especially if you again go into a very long drought. Thoughts and prayers are with you two!!

Your new property is a lot like you two. It's been through something horrible that has set it back. But it, like you, has all the resources it needs to rebuild and rejeuvenate itself: strength, will, and the life earth provides. The land is probably feeling a little battered and broken too. That mud is your decomposing, composted leaves. Great mulch to use for raised bed soil! I think with as heavily treed the property is and with deciduous trees that will be at least a twice yearly job. Cutting those low hanging branches is also part of your fire management strategies...even the ones not blocking the driveway path. Using them to provide your firewood kindling makes nothing go to waste. Thinking of Bea and wishing her peace of mind and a full recovery. My heart goes out to you both in dealing with your struggles.

Work Away is a brilliant 'volunteer' platform. Where both volunteers and people needing volunteers can post. I know quite a few Brits who bought properties in France have used this platform. If you can draw up a schedule of what needs doing, I'm sure you'll have plenty of volunteers wanting to come and help

Out of a lot of darkness there is a silver lining for the long term health of your property. You have the unusual and uninvited knowledge of how fire and water moves through your property in extreme events and what you need to do while building it back to make it more resilient for these future events.
