Years ago, on our farm, we used what we called a stone boat. Simple tool. We took a piece of plywood, added some eye bolts and chain to attach to the tractor. It was flat and dragged behind the tractor. It could carry anything. In your case, using the ATV, you could add extra eye bolts for straps and carry the tanks up closer to where you need them.

How is Bee doing, Theo? 🐝🌻❤️ Definitely look into purchading some kind of digger for your new property. Also, would putting an additional 5000L tank about halfway down the mountain help with your water situation. Having to haul 3 of the 2000L tanks with the ATV is goingto be daunting enough. If you have an extra tank at the midway point it should help in case you have an issue, I would think.

Cut damaged ends of pipes off straight. Use a pipe collar to join two pipes together with pipe glue. Don't try to melt pipes, won't have strength. Clean joints are strong joints. In the long run its less expensive and maintenance intensive to do the job right and less expensive in the long run.

Red poppy Ranch just put in water tanks above his home in Idaho and he dug into the hillside behind him and used railroad ties to make a building to put the tanks in and then he put dirt up against all the walls to protect from fire freezing all that stuff you could use Rock to make walls around your tanks to protect them from the next fire if there ever is one

Great work Leo. Buying a digger is maybe a good, there's a lot of land there, you will use it again and agin. If you no longer need it, sell it, but i doubt you ever will. Carry on carrying on.

Theo, I can well imagine you feeling overwhelmed with the amount of work needed to be done! I think of the people who moved there initially, and them setting it all up in the beginning, and in a way you're the one who's 'new' and renewing the land and property. Yes you've have a mountain of work, but equally, you have the time, there is no rush! You have the rest of your life to fix it all up and make it even more amazing that it already is.
@Seelieness2 жыл бұрын
See if there is a company or person in the area who digs wells and hire them to come up and dig out the dam. I have seen others in Portugal hire people to rescue wells and grade land and it was surprisingly affordable. Of course I don't know the cost of one and it could very well be a great tool for the farm? It would allow you to solve this water situation faster at least. You have done a superb job by yourself so far but I urge you to get help with this mammoth task.

Tip that I've learned from the many forest fires in Portugal.. don't cut the trees until the next spring.. a lot of trees (even the trees that are not fire resistant) will come to life in the spring 💪

Post forest fires the rainwater run off can be a major problem for years. You need to find ways to direct that runoff so as to not lose soil. So berms or devices to absorb and direct the flow are necessary. planting grasses in the fall will also obviate runoff during the coming years faster than trees. Yes you are in need of a tracked backhoe.
@melinayorke74622 жыл бұрын
Theo, you lovely guy, I think you need to get yourself some hip waders👍😃. I think that a digger is a must have for the scale of property and the work it will require over the years. Very best of luck to you and Bee💗

Great idea of buying instead of renting a digger but get the track done before trying to get it up there hahaha (as if you didn't know that already).
